Allison's POV:

"Olivia!" I keep twisting the doorknob until suddenly it finally turns all the way. I push open the door to see Olivia on the ground with her hands close to her chest as she looked around frantically.

I crouch down to her level, cupping her face to look at me but I jerk my hands away due to how cold she was.

"She's freezing, Dad. She's cold as ice." I try to turn her on her back but my dad beats me to it by cupping her face to look at us, but her eyes still darted everywhere as if she was avoiding to look straight. "What's happening to her?"

"Olivia, you have to trigger your powers." He sternly says as she still looked around the room. "Come on, look at me!"

He pulls out his knife from his pocket which causes my eyes to widen.

"Dad, what are you--" Immediately I'm cut off as he plunges it on her side. "What the hell!"

"She has to turn." He yells and starts to twist the blade in her stomach.

Her eyes flash orange and she instantly sits up, causing my dad to pull away. She yanks the blade out of her abdomen and tosses it to the side, clutching onto the wound in pain with tears in her eyes.

"D-Did you see them?" She shakily asks with a whisper.

"Who?" I say and try to scoot closer to her but she flinches back, almost as if she was afraid to even touch me.

"There were five of them." She breathes out. "They...wore black. I couldn't--I couldn't see their faces, they were covered." She stutters and closes her eyes momentarily as her hands dimly glowed on the wound before she pulled her hands away to show that the wound was gone.

"What do you mean, like masks?" I ask.

"Almost like a demon one, but I-I could see his eyes. They were greenish yellow. Like a...like a firefly." I place my hand on her shoulder to squeeze it in comfort and this time she didn't pull away.

My dad sits up from his spot and walks up to my window. "Security system wasn't triggered."

I furrow my eyebrows as I watched him move my curtains to check outside. "Then how did they get in?"

"They didn't." Olivia spoke clearer. "It was like they came out of the shadows."

My dad stiffens as soon as she says it, showing that he knew what could've attacked her. "Do you know what that means?"

He looks up to me with hesitation. "Um...I'm not sure." He picks up the knife from the ground. "Listen, the two of you...I need you to keep this quiet for a few hours."

Olivia props her elbow on her knee to hold her head up. "From everyone?" She finally looks up from the ground to meet his eyes.

"Just twenty-four hours."

"They could've killed her, dad." I say, annoyed at the fact we couldn't tell our friends.

"But they didn't." He says, cleaning the knife with a cloth. "And I think there was a reason why."

"What do you mean?" Olivia asks, wiping her eyes so no more tears would fall.

"I think they might have been after me."

Olivia's POV:

After last night, all I could think about were those...things. The shadow ninjas that held me on the ground and practically stared into my soul, making me fall limp on the ground.

The part that scared me the most was that it was the same shadows I saw in that vision. The same one I saw when that shadow showed me in the dark room.

That meant that it was going to happen soon, but how soon?

"Yeah, you're not allowed to talk to Kira from now on."

I blink a couple times, seeing Stiles giving me a stern expression. "I'm not allowed to talk to her anymore?" I ask the two boys in front of me, watching as Kira put away her things in her locker. "Why's that?"

"Her name was written in a coded message telling Barrow to kill her. And when Scott was at Kira's house, he knocked Scott out and abducted her, taking her to the substation where he used to work." Stiles explained and I turn to Scott, giving him an amused look.

"You were at her house?" I tease and instantly his face begins to flush. "Good job!"

"I wasn't done explaining!" Stiles raises his voice to put my attention back to him. "When we got there, he basically tried to fry her with the live wire and honestly, I thought she was dead as soon as it touched her, but I was way beyond wrong. The girl was literally absorbing the electricity with her bare hands!" He explains as he aggressively moved his hands while he did so.

"So that explains why we have no power." I say and he nods. "Then shouldn't we make sure she's okay? She's probably freaking out about her powers. I mean, I used to be in her position when I was new."

"That's because you're different. Until we figure out if she's just another psychotic monster that's going to start murdering everybody, I vote against any and all interaction." Stiles says and I glance at Scott who was already staring at Kira with a saddened expression.

"What if she's like us?" Scott asks, looking away from the girl.

Stiles incredulously turns to him. "Did you not hear what I just told Olivia?" He points to Kira. "That girl walked through 1.21 jigawatts of electricity. She's not like you guys."

"Okay, then I'll just bring up what I told you when we first met." I say to Stiles as I shove my notebook in my backpack. "You're not the boss of me so you don't get to tell me what I can do." I pat his cheek before I walk to Kira who was barely shutting her locker.

"Hey Kira," I greet which causes her to jump. "how's it going?"

She clutches on her things tightly. "Are you sure you want to be talking to me?"

"Why wouldn't I want to?" I ask as the both of us continued to walk in the halls.

"Did...Scott tell you? The thing?" She awkwardly trailed off but I shrug.

"He did but I promise you, I'm not gonna avoid you." I explain and she gives a small smile. "Just because that whole thing happened, I still think you're pretty cool to talk to."

"Thanks. You're pretty cool too." She says but then looks down shyly. "Does Scott think the same?"

I give her a teasing smile. "Does it matter that much of what he thinks about you?"

Her face instantly flushes. "I-I'm just curious. My dad invited him over last night and things were okay until...you know."

"Well, I'm gonna be honest with you," I start off. "when he told me about what happened to you, he was scared out of his mind of the possibilities of you being hurt. He basically searched the whole city."

Her eyes lit up. "Really?"

"Really." I smile. "So don't worry about explaining to him about what's been going on with you. It'll give you an excuse to talk to him."

She softly chuckles. "Okay."

"You're going out for your date night with Allison on Halloween?" I turn around from the mirror to see my mom leaning against the door frame. "Where's Isaac?"

"It's some Halloween party that Danny is hosting." I shrug and face the mirror again to finish applying mascara. "And Isaac left awhile back to go help set up."

I was wearing a simple white cami crop top with white denim shorts. Lydia had let me borrow some of her clothes since I didn't have anything that would particularly work under the blacklight.

"What about your plans for you and Allison to stay here?" She steps inside and takes a seat on the end of my bed. "Weren't you planning to spend time with her here? You and Isaac stayed up all last night putting up the fairy lights."

"Don't remind me." I mutter, stretching my back a bit since it was still sore from untangling the lights. "I think Allison wanted us to go to the party together as a couple for the first time."

"Okay well...since you and Allison have been together for awhile, we never got the chance to have that talk--"

My eyes widen and I feel my face begin to heat up. "Mom!"

"What? You and Allison are teenagers so who knows!"

"Oh my god, can we please talk about something else?"

"Look, all I want you to think about is there's a time and place. Your first time should be memorable, not at some party." She crossed her arms. "Thank god I don't have to worry about you ending up on shows like sixteen and pregnant—"

"Okay, okay! For gods sake, another topic!" I exclaim.

"Fine. You're still not iffy from the last time when you went to a party?" She says and gestured to the two pumpkins that sat on the beanbag chair. "You already bought the stuff for the pumpkins."

"I am, but Allison really wanted to go." I close the cap to the mascara and place it on my desk. "I don't mind doing what she wants especially since..."

"Since what?"

I sit down beside her and look down to fiddle with my fingers. "What if you saw something that involved losing someone you cared about?"

"Olivia--"

The front doorbell rings and I quickly stand up from my bed. "Forget it. I'll text to let you know if I'm coming back home or spending the night at Allison's." I grab my house keys from the desk and slip on my white shoes before leaving my room.

"Wait we have to talk about this.l!" I hear my mom call out from behind me. "Is this about Allison?"

I open the front door with a smile as soon as I'm met with my girlfriend's face.

"Hey." Her eyes trail up and down until she locks eyes with me. "Wow."

"Too much? I can go back and change—"

"No, no, no. You look great." She reaches for my hand and squeezed it with an assuring smile. "Beautiful even."

I feel my face flush. "T-Thanks." I gesture to her attire. She was wearing a black skirt and a buttoned-up flannel with black boots. "I can't compare to you though."

She chuckled softly. "Oh stop it. Ready to go?" She asks and I nod. She looks behind me and waves with a smile. "Hey Ms. Flores. Happy Halloween."

I turn and see my mom lean against the couch. "Happy Halloween, Allison. Make sure you guys don't get home too late."

"We won't." I say and nudge Allison's arm. "Come on, let's go." Allison waves goodbye before I shut the door behind us.

"I can't wait for tonight." She swings our hands as we walk to her car. "Especially since it's technically our first date."

I grin. "Me too."

She lets go of my hand and walks over to the drivers seat.

I get inside the passengers seat and she starts the ignition as soon as I buckle my seatbelt.

The drive to Derek's loft was somewhat silent since the music she was already played lightly in the background.

I glance at Allison and see the serene expression plastered on her face as she drove. How could I be so lucky but unlucky at the same time? Is the future where she dies even true?

She momentarily glances at me and smiles before looking back to the road.

"You're staring."

The sound of blade slicing through Allison's abdomen and the agonizing scream that escaped through my mouth started to overwhelm me. I could barely look her in the eyes anymore and the heavy feeling against my chest wasn't helping.

I awkwardly turn forward. "Sorry I--"

She takes a hand off the wheel and interlaces it with mine. "Never said I didn't like it."

Why would someone who's too good for me have to be the one to sacrifice herself? She should be the one to live her life. There has to be a way, but I have to remember the specifics of that night so there could be a way to change the outcome.

But how?

The car comes to a stop and I realize that she already had parked the car in front of the loft. Was I thinking that much?

"If someone gives me a cup that has pink juice in it, I'm smacking it out of there hand." Allison says as we both got out of the car. "I don't want a repeat of last time." She locks the doors and hands the keys to me since I had pockets.

I softly chuckle. "I'll drink water if that's all they have here."

She interlaces our hands once more as we walked up the stairs inside the building. "I just want one normal date night without worrying about some creature that could be a threat to us."

"Maybe things could turn around?"

"Wishful thinking." She rolled her eyes playfully.

As we got closer to his place, the both of us could hear the music thumping from inside which causes me to furrow my eyebrows.

"Are you sure this is a blacklight party?" I hesitantly ask and gesture to my outfit. "I don't want to be the only one that's dressed in all white. My arms feel so...exposed." I rub my arms self-consciously.

"Lydia told me it was. Once we get inside your outfit's going to glow." She wraps both of her arms around my neck. "You'll look great."

"But you're not dressed for the party!" I say, gesturing to her flannel and black skirt. "How's that fair?"

She gives a teasing smile before leaning in to peck my lips. "You'll see." She unwraps her arms and pulls on the handle to slide open the door, but my eyes immediately widen at the sight in front of me.

Dozens of people painted with several neon patterns that illuminated from the blacklights, were dancing away without a care in the world as the DJ played one of the Bloody Beetroots songs that practically blared in the loft.

"Believe me now?" Allison shouted with an amused expression. "You blend right in."

"I admit, Danny did a good job setting this whole thing up." I shout back in hopes that Allison heard me. "But if Derek was here, my head would be on a spike."
