"Goooo, Weiss!"  Yang cheered as Weiss stood ready with Myrtenaster in her hand. Blake Belladonna waved a small flag labelled with the team name nodded "Fight well!" She said, sounding enthusiastic for once. Ruby raised her hands in the air with excitement "Yeah, represent teeeeam RWBY!"  She yelled

Weiss Schnee lowered her rapier and looked over at her "leader"

"Ruby! I'm trying to focus!" 

Ruby immediately cringe and said, looking sheepish "Oh, um... Sorry..." 

Port blinked "Allllright!" He said, walking next to the cage, he pulled out his axe and proclaimed "Let the match... begin!"  The professor swung down and broke the padlock with a single blow, dropping the cage door and revealing the Boarbatusk inside, which immediately charged at Weiss. She used Myrtenaster to deflect its attack and roll to the side, readying herself for its next move. The Grimm stands a distance away from its enemy, seemingly studying her. 

Port laughed "Ha-ha! Wasn't expecting that, were you?" He asked, clearly amused

Rubys silver eyes widened slightly "Hang in there, Weiss!" She called

Weiss charged towards the oncoming Boarbatusk, sticking her blade straight at its skull until they meet, unfortunately Myrtenaster became caught in the beast's tusks. Weiss held on to the hilt, and was tossed around as she struggled to get the rapier back. 

"Bold, new approach. I like it!"  Port said with a small smile concealed by his moustache

Ruby kept watching "Come on, Weiss, show it who's boss!"  She cheered, only for Weiss to turn to glare at Ruby. the Boarbatusk, seeing an opening, turned its head and ripped the sword from her grip. Myrtenaster landed far away from its user, who is knocked back by the creature's tusks. 

Port looked at Weiss "Oh-ho! Now what will you do without your weapon?"  He asked, just as Weiss looks up in time to see the Boarbatusk to charge again, rolling out of the way just in time to avoid getting trampled and make it crash into a desk. Weiss rushed at her sword and practically dived to to get it back in her hand. 

Ruby chimes in again "Weiss! Go for its belly! There's no armor underneath-" 

Weiss turned to Ruby "Stop telling me what to do!"  She exclaimed. Ruby looked hurt at Weiss' rebuttal. Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk leapt into the air and rolls into a ball, spinning rapidly in the air and landing on the ground, it started gaining speed before it launched itself at Weiss. Weiss instinctively activated one of her Glyphs  and blocked the roll, leaping up into the now-black snowflake symbol and turning it blue again so she can drive the blade into the Boarbatusk's stomach. It squealed and fell silent while Weiss gasps in relief. 

Port clapped"Bravo! Bra-vo! It appears we are indeedin the presence of a true Huntress-in-training!" He complimented as Weiss stood up at attention from her exhausted position and Ruby continued to frown.

Now it was Y/N's turn, the boy walked down into the combat area, instead of getting changed properly he had just removed his blazer and tie and unbuttoned his top button on his shirt. He seemed oblivious to the stares he was getting, most either directed to his rather prominent muscles or numerous scars on his arms. He clenched his fist and the stone glowed "Alright, let's get this over with teach" he said, ready to face his opponent.

Port nodded and slashed open the second, larger cage, revealing an alpha beowolf. Y/N just smirked and fired a purple blast towards it before it could even leave its cage, the beowolf gripped the sides of the cage as Y/N took a step forward and intensified the beam, purple sparks started to spit from the sides of the Beowulf's injury as the beam started to worm its way all the way through. The beowolf gripped the sides of the cage in an attempt to keep itself from being knocked back inside, however when Y/N finally stopped, the Grimm fell back of its own accord, the large crater that had been bored through its chest finally taking its toll. It started to fade into dust as all Grimm did when they died and Y/N pulled his fist back by his sides.

Port stared at it for a moment with his eyes wide before turning to the rest of the class "I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and... stay vigilant! Class dismissed!"  Weiss changed her surprised expression at the totally one sided match to a glare directed towards Ruby and turns away, she started walking hurriedly to the exit past the rest of her teammates. 

Jaune Arc watched her leave and looked at team RBBY "Sheesh, what's with her?"  The remaining members of team RWBY look at each other with the same question.

Ruby turned a corner and manages to catch up with her.  "Weiss!"  Weiss groaned mentally before turning around "What?"  She asked

Ruby looked at her "What's wrong with you? Why are you being-" "What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you?" Weiss interrupted suddenly "You're supposed to be a leader, and all you've been so far is a nuisance!" 

Ruby scoffed "What did I do?"  She asked incredulously. Weiss folded her arms "That's just it - you've done nothing to earn your position! Back in the forest, you acted like a child, and you've only continued to do so!" 

Ruby blinked "Weiss, where is this coming from? What happened to all the talk about 'working together'? I thought you believed in acting as a team."  She exclaimed before once again Weiss cut across her again

"Not a team led by you. I've studied and trained. And quite frankly, I deserve better." She turned her back to Ruby again who tried to reach out but dropped her hand with the following words

"Ozpin made a mistake."

Weiss started to walk away as Ruby looked dejected. From nowhere, Ozpin who was standing right behind Ruby with a coffee in one hand and his cane in the other suddenly spoke up

"Hmm... Now that didn't seem to go very well."  Ozpin said, not seeming to be affected by Weiss's words Ruby who looked doubtful, almost on the verge of tears suddenly spoke quietly"Is she right? Did you make a mistake?"  She asked Ozpin who laughed slightly "That remains to be seen." 

Weiss was still walking around the halls, most likely to cool her head until she came across a balcony where Professor Port was watching the sunset over Beacon Academy's rooftops.  Weiss approached him "Professor Port!" 

Port turned to look at her "Ah, Miss Schnee! And to what do I owe this fine pleasure?"  He enquired.

"I... I enjoyed your lecture!"  Weiss stammered

Port nodded "Of course you did, child; you have the blood of a true Huntress in you."  He said

Weiss smiled a little, seemingly pleased at the compliment "You really think so?" 

Port nodded "Most surely!" He said before noticing Weiss' small frown and lack of eye contact

"Hmm... Something's troubling you."  He said Weiss nodded slightly "Yes, sir..."  he said

Port nodded "Dear girl, confess to me your strife!"  He said

Weiss took a deep breath "Well... I-I think I should have been the leader of team RWBBY!" 

Port was silent for a moment until he speaks finally "That's preposterous!"

Ruby looked at Ozpin "What do you mean?"  She asked in surprise. Ozpin looked at the small girl and smiled "I mean, it's only been one day. Ruby... I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, and child on this planet. But at this moment, I would not consider your appointment to leader to be one of them." He leant in so he could look more directly at Ruby "Do you?"  He asked

Weiss went from being unsure to now getting angry "Excuse me?!" 

Port looked at the girl "I've believed in Professor Ozpin for many years, and the man's never once led me astray!"  He said confidently Weiss folded her arms "So you would just blindly accept his decision even after seeing how exceptional I am?"  She asked incredulously only for Port to reply "With all due respect, your exceptional skill on the battlefield is matched only by your poor attitude." 

"How dare you!"  Weiss seethed, only for port to blink "My point exactly. I see a girl before me who has spent her entire life getting exactly what she wanted." He said. Weiss crossed her arms, looking defiant "That's not even remotely true!" However under the teacher's gaze, she reluctantly relents "Well... not entirely true."

Ozpin looked at Ruby "Being a team leader isn't just a title you carry into battle, but a badge you wear constantly. If you're not always performing at your absolute best, then what reason do you give others to follow you?"  Ozpin asked wisely as Ruby looks thoughtful at his words, before smiling at him.

Port looked at her "So the outcome did not fall in your favor. Do you really believe that acting in such a manner would cause those in power to reconsider their decision?" He asked as Weiss finally calmed down and looks at him again "So instead of fretting about what you don't have, savor what you do. Hone your skills, perfect every technique, and be not the best leader, but the best person you can be."  Weiss smiled a little at the words of wisdom.

Ozpin turned his back on Ruby, still talking to her "You've been burdened with a daunting responsibility, Ruby. I advise you take some time, to think about how you will uphold it."  Ruby, with a last look of consideration, turned and walked away. She arrived at the balcony just as Port was walking away from Weiss and she smiled a little at her partner.

The full moon (we'll not quite full as there's a chunk missing) shines over the green lights of Beacon, and in the room of team RWBBY, the door opens and Weiss' shadow is seen against the hall's light. Blake is sleeping under the covers, Yang is spread out on her bed and snoring and Y/N is curled up with his gauntlet stood up on his bedside table. when Weiss lifts the blanket of Ruby's tent, she finds the occupant with her head resting on notes, a pencil in her hand, and open books all around her. Weiss, looking amazed at Ruby's determination, clears her throat and gently shakes the other girl awake, who takes a second to regain consciousness and start flailing in surprise.'  Ruby: "Weiss! I-I was studying, and then I fell asleep! I'm sorry..."  Weiss places a hand over Ruby's mouth and puts a finger to her own so Ruby understands the need for lowering her voice. Weiss looked near Ruby's pillow and spotted an empty Beacon coffee mug. 

Weiss lowered her hand "How do you take your coffee?"  She asked, Ruby, surprised by the out of context question stammered "I... I don't..."  Weiss started to get irritated "Answer the question!"  Ruby thought for a moment "Uhh, cream and five sugars!"  She said Weiss sighed, of course this girl with the childish personality and the speed semblance would have so much sugar. "Don't move." she said before ducking under to her own bed and coming back up a moment later with a fresh cup, offering it to Ruby "Here."  She said, thrusting the cup towards her Ruby paused for a moment "Um... Thanks, Weiss."  She said, uncertain by this change in personality Weiss smiled, then looked apologetic "Ruby, I think you have what it takes to be a good leader."

Ruby smiled appreciatively "Just know that I am going to be the best teammate you'll ever have!" Weiss proclaimed quietly, they shared a smile before Weiss said "Good luck studying!" and ducked under, only to come up and point at one of Ruby's papers "That's wrong, by the way." She ducked under again, and her voice comes from the doorway this time "Hey, Ruby?"  Ruby looked up at her "Uh-huh?"  Weiss stood in the door with her hand on the knob "I always wanted bunk beds as a kid." she confessed as she started to close the door Ruby, grinned at the progress with her friend, before she returned to her notes.
