"You shouldn't have come here" a girl in black smiled slightly as she turned to face Y/N and Ruby. Y/N said nothing as Ruby spoke "come quietly or we'll use force" she said, she was cut off by a barrage of arrows that she was barely able to dodge. One of the arrows hit her cape and pinned her to the wall where she tried to fire at Cinder with crescent rose, only for it to be knocked from her hand

Blake sighed "Yang, if you're going to tell me to stop, you may as well save your breath." Yang: was sitting cross-legged on the central desk of the empty classroom they were in, orange light shone across her calm features. "I don't want you to stop; I want you to slow down."

Blake continued to pace with arms crossed, still irritated "I don't have the luxury to slow down."

"It's not a luxury; it's a necessity."

"The "necessity" is stopping Torchwick."

"And we're going to. But first you have to sit down and listen to what I have to say." Yang Patted the part of the desk across from her.

Blake looked away for a moment until she finally relented and draped her legs over the desk's edge.

"Fine." She sighed

" Y/N, Ruby and I grew up in Patch, an island off the coast of Vale. Our parents were Huntsmen. Our dad taught at Signal, and our mom took on missions around the kingdom. Her name was Summer Rose, and she was, like... Super-Mom: Baker of cookies and slayer of giant monsters. And then... one day she left for a mission and never came back."

Yang looked down as she said this, and Blake looked sorry for her.

"It was tough. Y/N and Ruby were both really torn up, but... I think both of them were still too young to really get what was going on, y'know? And my dad just kind of... shut down. It wasn't long before I learned why. Summer wasn't the first love he lost; she was the second. The first... was my mom..."

"He wouldn't tell me everything, but I learned that the two of them had been on a team together with Summer and Qrow, and that she'd left me with him right after Y/N was born. No one had seen her since."

Blake seemed confused "Why did she leave you? "That question... why? I didn't know an answer, but I was determined to find out. It was all I thought about. I would ask anyone I could about what they knew about her. Then, one day, I found something. What I thought was a clue that could lead me to answers, or maybe even my mother. I waited for Dad to leave the house, put Ruby in a wagon, and headed out. I must've walked for hours. I had cuts and bruises, I was totally exhausted, but I wasn't gonna let anything stop me. When we finally got there, I could barely stand, but I didn't care; I had made it. And then I saw them. Those burning red eyes... There we were: A toddler sleeping in the back of a wagon and a stupid girl too exhausted to even cry for help. We might as well have been served on a silver platter. But, as luck would have it, our uncle showed up just in time....My stubbornness should've gotten us killed that night."

Blake paused "Yang... I'm sorry that happened to you, and I understand what you're trying to tell me, but this is different. I'm not a child, and this isn't just a search for answers! I can't just-"

Yang was staring at the board, fists clenched "I told you: I'm not telling you to stop! I haven't! To this day, I still want to know what happened to my mother and why she left me, but I will never let that search control me. We're going to find the answers we're looking for, Blake. But if we destroy ourselves in the process, what good are we?"

"You don't understand! I'm the only one who can do this!"

"No, you don't understand!" Yang turned around sharply to reveal red eyes and flaming hair "If Roman Torchwick walked through that door, what would you do?"

"I'd fight him!"

"You'd lose!" Yang Pushed Blake away.

"I can stop him!" Blake tiredly tried to do the same to Yang, but she didn't even budge.

"You can't even stop me!" She pushed Blake again, knocking her to land on the desk. Yang, still angry-eyed, walked toward Blake as she gets up, but then does the unexpected and pulled her in a brief hug as she helped her up, her eyes going back to their normal purple.

"I'm not asking you to stop. Just please, get some rest.." she pulled back
"Not just for you, but for the people you care about." Yang stepped away and started walking past the startled Blake, who turned when she spoke over her shoulder "And if you feel like coming out tomorrow, I'll get Y/N to save you a dance."

Yang winked slyly at Blake who stared at Yang as she left before sighing heavily and walking away herself.

Y/N clenched his fist and sent purple lightning at Cinder which she barely avoided herself "so you're this great stonekeeper, tch what a waste of power..." she taunted as she sent an arrow at him

Y/N stopped the arrow in mid air with the space stone and smiled slightly "Or perhaps I'm wondering why you're not using your full strength?" He suggested

Cinder scowled and charged forwards, sending a blast of fire at him that Y/N used the space stone to phase through he smirked and punched her, sending her to the ground

Cinder clicked her jaw into place and winced a little before drawing both her swords and slashing at Y/N

Y/N caught one of her arms by the wrist and blocked the other with the space stone, he twisted the wrist, making her drop one of the swords, Cinder then tried to toss the blade to her other hand but Y/N caught it and stabbed her in the left side, pushing her backwards, she leant against the control panel and pressed a button, uploading the black queen virus. Y/N didn't see this as he pulled the sword out of her and it shattered.

EARLIER

Y/N grunted as he pulled at his tie "Stupid... dumb... neck trap!" He yelled in frustration. "Too damn tight" he complained

"I knew you'd look better in a tie." Blake smiled as Y/M stopped his struggling and stares at the dark purple dress and bright blue bow she was wearing, now looking like she traded her dark bags for violet eyeshadow, as she stepped forward and took him by the arm. 

"Wait does this mean we're going...together?!?" Y/N looked at her in confusion

Blake grinned a little "Well my first dance is spoken for by someone." She smiled and held his arm as they walked to the ballroom.

Inside the ballroom, streamers had been hung through glass chandeliers, pink and blue balloons were everywhere, and students in dark suits and bright dresses stepped with each other to the music between the white-clothed tables. Blake was spun around by Y/N before they broke apart And went to grab a drink together. Yang meanwhile had been watching this whilst hanging with Ruby and Weiss and had a slight proud smile on her face in the back of the room, watching Blake laugh and enjoy herself before smiling at her team.

"I told you she would come." She said proudly

Weiss looked at her "Mission accomplished." Ruby turned to her teammates. "Soooo, what do we do now?"

"Just have fun!" Yang said as she proceeded to walk away and do so, with Weiss going the opposite direction and leaving Ruby behind.

"Does that mean I can change out of these stupid things and into my hood now?" Ruby asked them but sighed upon receiving no answer, she waddled around in her painful footwear and groaned "Stupid lady stilts!"

"Not enjoying yourself?" Ozpin asked as he did that weird thing where he'd spawn in from nowhere

Ruby shook off her surprise to see the headmaster step up by her side, but shook her head and laughed "Oh, no, everything's fine! I'm just not much of a fancy pantsy... dancey girl." She confessed

"Well, you can't spend your whole life on the battlefield, even if you may want to."

"Yeah, that lesson's been floating around a lot lately."

Ozpin looked out at the dancing couples. "If you think about it, fighting and dancing aren't so different. Two partners interlocked, although one wrong move on the ballroom merely leads to a swollen foot."

Ruby glared hatefully at her heels "Or a twisted ankle."

Ozpin smiled "It's not every day that friends are able to come together like this. Time has a way of testing our bonds, but it's nights like these that can help keep them stronger than ever. Nights like these are ones we'll never forget."

Ruby smiled at the words of wisdom, but turned her head at the sound of the doors opening. Yang was back behind the podium, and smiled at the new arrivals. 

"You guys are just in time!"

Mercury smirked as he and Emerald stepped in with their ballroom clothes on "Wouldn't miss it for the world" he smiled wryly

"Your strong, but you should not have shown restraint, after all, you know as well as I the importance of power in this world" Y/N said as his gauntleted hand held her head and his other pinned her down

"You're not worthy to hold those stones" she whispered, blood seeping from her mouth

"You don't know me, but you did much the same" Y/N smiled a little "why waste time slowly obtaining power when you can just take it?" He smiled a little

"My thoughts exactly.." Cinder quickly leant on the desk and dropkicked Y/N back before flipping over it to the window, she blew Y/N a kiss before smacking the window and shattering it with her heel and jumping out, Y/N darted towards the window but could find no sign of her when he reached it, Y/N scowled but his attention turned to Ironwood striding out of the lift.

"What happened here?"
