Fun Korean place

Today, a friend of mine celebrated her birthday by going to this Korean (well the sign actually said "oriental" but we were there for the Korean stuff. and I'm pretty sure the name itself was Korean. And the stuff inside was all Hanguel) place. It was a ton of fun. I wasn't bouncing for joy around the place, but I was very genuinely enjoying myself. Man, I could have stayed there for a looong time. With a friend, but man, it was fun. It was mainly a grocery store, but there was a little ready made food area. I took pictures too.

Bowls with kitties on them:

Chopsticks (they had plaid chopsticks. Plaid. It cracked my sister and I up. But then, many things that are quite tacky/quirky crack my sister and I (and I my whole family for that matter) up):

An amusing saying on this one bowl:

Stuff that was in a freezer/fridge:

Kimchi:

My brother, sister, and I have a knowledge of kimchi from this one scene in Boys Over Flowers when the aloof rich guy goes over to his middle-class girlfriend's house and they're making kimchi. He has a lot of fun. And he's never happy, so it was fun for us too. \(^.^)/.

Other stuff:

Sauces and oils, I guess:

The menu:

I don't know about you guys, but I thought everything on the menu looked delicious. (Except maybe the fishegg soup). We ended up getting I think four dishes for six of us and we all just shared everything. I mean, the way they do it in Korea (and probs all of east Asia for that matter) it's you have your food, and a bowl of rice, and you just kinda put what you want in with the rice and just roll with it from there. It was super good.

The main dishes:

The add ons and rice:

We got this sizzling hot thing that had... *let's see* a half done egg (it was good tho, I like eggs like that. Is that overeasy? *shrugs*), seaweed, bean sprouts, carrots, and some other stuff; it's the thing in that pot thing that's alone on one tray. There were dumplings that were very delicious; they're kinda hidden by the other phone taking pictures, but those are them. A really spicy meat and onions and peppers with other stuff in there too. I took a bite of one of the green peppers, and then wished I hadn't. It was sooo hot. I got like three refills of water to alleviate the hotness. But my sister apparently liked them, so they all went to her; the stuff with the red juice around it's base. And there was this barbequed beef. It was mildly sweet and really good; the brown stuff on the more elongated platter.

And then there was the rice and add ons. There was kimchi (spicier than expected), tofu, some stuff I didn't know but very good, bean sprouts (which I enjoyed), and some chopped up green stuff that was almost succulent (plant wise).

So we ate and stuff and than went back to the house to have cake and stuff. :)

Wow I went in detail as far the food is concerned... Well it was really good. And I'm somewhat proud of myself, as I ate with chopsticks the whole of the meal. I had some troubles, but I did it. :) A+ ;)

Man, I told you guys a lot. Well it was novel experience. Ten to one would go there again (if that's the right saying. I would definitely go there or a place like it if given the opportunity) I just wanna go with a friend and browse. It was really fun. It was just a simple grocery store, very common, nothing terribly unique, but hey, I'd never been in such a place, I'm just a teenage white girl XP. I thought it was super fun. I can't really express much joy, cuz it's late and I'm tired, but be it known that I had fun and would do it again. I just like new experiences, escpecially as far as new foods and seeing the different cultures of the world and stuff. :) There's been a smiley face at the end of pretty much every paragraph... :)

Anywho, I guess that's all.

Yours,

-GadSul

(I've never mentioned this before, but sometimes when typing "GadSul" on my phone, it'll autocorrect to "Hahaha" or something like that so it's like my phone is mocking my mistake. Man, I used parentheses probably way too much. Not to mention my avoidance of absolute statements. Okay I'm done now.)

Good night and joy be to you all!
