As Carter made his way home from his meeting with Geoff, he had been rehearsing what he'd say to Katherine, when he looked up he realized that was where he usually brought Katniss to hunt. Knowing that he at least needed something for dinner had Carter going to grab his bow and arrow from where he kept them, walking towards the mountains where the wild turkeys liked to build their nest, when he heard as a girl moan out "Oh Gale!" from the tree line. At hearing this Carter instantly seen red, at the thought of Gale touching his little princess inappropriately, it did not matter to Katniss' father that the couple would be married one day, that was a long time from now. Even though Katniss recently had a birthday, and was now fifteen she was still his child, so Carter quietly made his way towards the sounds ready to pull the young man off his daughter, and call off the wedding. But deep down Carter knew that he could not do that, because now more than ever he needed their union to take place, and soon. So that way once he convinced Katherine(and he would have to convince her) to leave with him, and go to District 13, in order to have the new babies safely. However(luckily) for Carter he found that the girl with Gale was not daughter, but this did not help the older man as now he knew that he and Katherine could not run away to a safer district, even though a small voice in the back of his mind was screaming "If you pretend that you did not see Gale with this girl, than the wedding could go on as planned!" However Carter knew that he would not/could not do that to his daughter, he needed to know that Katniss was happy and well taken care of, not left to wonder if her husband was out in the forest doing god knows what, with any willing female in town. Carter knew that he had to get away from here otherwise he'd shoot the boy in his cheating ass, which is something that he should do just for the HELL of it, but he didn't, and he could not be in these woods at the moment, so he quickly and quietly made his way away from the pair, placing his bow and arrow back where they belonged leaving the forest. As he walked home, Carter hoped that there was enough game left for his family to have a decent supper, and was now wondering how he was going to explain what he seen to his daughter, and more importantly if he could get Geoff to talk to the leaders of 13 again, and possibly convince them to allow Katniss to come with him and Katherine because there was NO WAY, his wife would ever leave their home now. Not that he had been one hundred precent sure she would have before, considering the fact that she was sure that her father was just being over protective and that both she and her unborn twins would be just fine, since she and her father delivered babies to families in much worse shape than hers, and they seemed to be okay, well as okay as anyone could be in District 12.

As he walked into the door of his family's house he smelt the stew cooking, and this made him smile, he was excepting to find both his wife and daughter in the kitchen, but he did not, and the only person in the room was Katherine, which was a surprise and relief to him. As this would give him an opportunity to talk to his wife in private. But before saying anything he asked "Where is Katniss?" "I'm not sure, I sent her into the forest a while ago to gather some wild mushrooms. And she told me that she had something to do first, do you think that she went to see Gale in the woods?" "God, I hope not!" Carter says trying to hide the nervousness from his voice, he knew that the young couple thought no one knew about them spending time in the woods, but both he and Katherine did, and most likely so did Gale's mother. Katherine looked at her husband before asking "Why, do you say that? I know we're not thrilled about them sneaking off into the woods, but I thought we expected it." "We did, until this afternoon when as I returned from delivering my monthly order to my friend from District 13, when I heard moaning coming from the woods, now at first I thought it was Gale and Katniss, I was gonna separate them, and remind them that Katniss still has four years of her name going into the bowl, that President Snow would not care if she was pregnant or not. But then I seen that Gale wasn't with our daughter." "Isn't that a good thing? I mean at least now we know that she's not..." Katherine says to her husband, "Yeah, sorta, except that he was out there screwing another girl, only I got a good look at this girl, and it was not just any girl, it was Fern!" Carter tells his wife, making her say "Please tell me you're kidding! Why would Gale and Fern do that to Katniss?" "I don't know, Sweetheart, and I wasn't about to stick around and ask them. It literally took everything I had in me  to not cross into that clearing and beat the boy to death!" Carter was saying as he heard the front door opening, looking around the corner he seen as Katniss walked in, taking off her shoes as she said  "Mom, I'm home, and I am sorry but I couldn't find any fresh mushrooms in the woods, but if it's okay I want to go take a quick bath before Daddy gets home." Then before either of her parents could say another word they heard the pump in the small tub coming on, beginning to fill the small tub with water, as Katniss hummed the same tune she had been singing for days. Causing both her parents to look at each other confused.
