(37)Periwinkle with Serendipity (Part 2)
*Song- Two Ghosts, Harry Styles
'To have this need to possess me...'
Periwinkle with Serendipity (Part 2)
Aurora sat on the couch's armrest, tapping her foot impatiently.
I watched her, my eyes trying to soak in every inch of her. It was hard- there was so much beauty to process.
She turned her head to me, a small frown on her face; "What?"
"Nothing." I said as I lowered my eyes back to the cup of coffee in my hand.
Her foot tapped again as we waited for her friends to arrive. They'd just gotten back home from university, quickly unpacked and were headed straight here to greet her first. I was happy for her- she seemed genuinely excited to see her two best friends, but at the same time, I was upset.
I'd wanted to be with her- alone, but that was selfish, and I needed to learn how to curb that trait. Aurora deserved to be happy, no matter what.
But there was something else bothering me too- it wasn't just the fact that I had to share her with them, but I also felt slightly... left out.
What was I to her? A friend with interesting benefits?
I wanted more than just that.
'Boyfriend' sounded strange, and so human. And it didn't sound at all permanent.
I wanted more.
I wanted to be her best friend, her lover, her... everything. Her demon, her saviour, her soulmate. Ugh, why did that sound so feminine? I'm not sensitive like Hypnos or idealistic like Poseidon. Then why did the these thoughts linger?
A car honked outside and Aurora shot up from the couch. I placed my cup down on the table and followed slowly behind as she ran to the front door. She ripped it open, a large beaming smile on her face. I leaned back a bit in the shadows as I saw two young girls run towards her with open arms. The silver car's doors were slammed shut with no care in the world.
Sonya was the first to embrace her and then Trita literally jumped into the hug and they laughed, stumbling around, refusing to let go of her. I smiled softly.
I wondered what my reaction would be if Poseidon and Hypnos greeted me like that when I returned to the Underworld. I'd probably hit them both over the head with a shovel...
The girls squealed; "You're home!" Aurora yelled.
"Finally! And so are you! Whatttt! You look great!" Trita ran a hand through Aurora's hair and Sonya excitedly asked; "How's Italy? We need to know every-single-thing! Right now!"
Aurora laughed; "Wait, tell me about Ashbridge first? Where's your boo, Sonya?"
The platinum haired girl blushed and a small smile made its way up to her lips; "He's with his parents for the holiday, but maybe he'll visit soon..."
"He better! And you drama queen? Where's you man?"
Trita laughed as Aurora made a show of looking over the dark-haired girl's shoulder; "No men for me, Rora! I live on the wild side!"
They laughed and hugged again. They spoke for a bit, about simple things, but I remained in the darkened entrance, watching them interact. Not too long ago I'd threatened to kill these two girls if Aurora didn't do as I'd said, but now, as I watched them giggle and bring joy to her face- I felt only gratitude towards them.
I'm glad Aurora had them to keep her sane through all of this.
Aurora turned to lead them into the house and I straightened up from leaning against the wall. I began to hope that they'd approve of me, but my question was quickly answered as their eyes met my tinted gold ones.
Their jaws dropped.
I heard a clear and definite thought...
Oh. My. Fuck- Trita didn't shy away from looking me up and down.
Sonya's mind was a complete blank. I could actually hear her gears click to a stop.
I grinned. "Good morning."
Aurora looked nervously to her two friends, but their faces were frozen in astonishment. I felt my ego inflate a little, but I kept my polite smile on my face; my arrogant smirk laughing underneath the mask.
"Girls, this is Thane. He's a friend from university. Thane," She eyed me with suspicion; "This is Trita, and this is Sonya."
"It's a pleasure to meet you both. I've heard much about you."
Trita quickly whispered to Aurora; "That thing about men I just said- scratch that." She turned her smile to me; "Hi! Wow, it's really good to meet you, Thane."
Trita nudged Sonya out of her stupor; "Uh... Yeah, nice to meet you."
I smiled at the big, green-eyed girl. She was definitely the timid one.
Aurora grabbed Trita and Sonya by the hand and led them past me into the cool house. I tried not to feel too arrogant about them staring after me. I closed the front door and followed them to the lounge where Aurora was trying to initiate some small-talk, but they weren't having it.
Trita looked over at me with her dark green eyes; "Thane, could I ask you a big favour?"
"Of course." I already knew exactly what they wanted- for me to leave the room so they could interrogate Aurora.
"Sonya and I are quite thirsty; could you get us some water?"
"I'll get it-" Aurora started to say, earning her a few dirty looks from her friends, but I quickly interrupted; "Don't worry about it; you three catch up. I'll get us all something to drink."
I walked over to the kitchen, but then a devious idea popped into my head. Since they were going to ask about me anyway, let me give them something to really talk about. Aurora and me.
I fixed Aurora with a sultry look; "Angel, would you like something other than water?"
Trita and Sonya's mouths fell open and their wide eyes turned immediately to their surprised friends. Aurora gritted her teeth; "Water is fine, thanks."
The bomb exploded as soon as my heel touched the kitchen floor. My superhuman hearing helped me listen in as Trita and Sonya attacked Aurora with question after question.
"Who is that?"
"How old is he?"
"Is he your boyfriend?"
"Did he just call you angel?"
"How long have you two been together?"
"Are you two serious?"
"Does he have six-pack? God, he does, doesn't he?"
"Is he a god?"
I chuckled as I poured ice cold water into four glasses. The questions raged on-
"Is he Italian? Why does he sound so English?"
"Does he have a brother? If so, dibs!"
"Well, if you're not dating, then dibs on him!"
Finally, Aurora had a chance to speak; "Whoa! Jeez! Slow down!" She was whispering, but she knew there was no point. "First of all, Sonya, you have a boyfriend. Second of all, no- we're not dating and we're not together."
I felt a little annoyed at that.
Trita's voice piped in; "Well, then dibs for me!"
"And the rest of the questions? Come on!" Sonya said with expiration.
"I can barely remember them all..." Aurora muttered; "Okay, let's see... He's um... 25, he's Greek, but studied in England. He's doing his master's degree in contract law at the university and he calls me 'angel' because he calls everyone 'angel'."
"I don't believe you." Sonya said as-a-matter-of-factly.
"Shush! She didn't answer the most impotent question!" Trita's face grew serious; "Does he, or does he not have a ridiculous body?"
Aurora snorted; "I guess."
"You guess? The fuck, Aurora?" Trita exclaimed.
"Shhh! The whole house can hear you!" Sonya hissed, but Trita didn't pay her any attention.
I chose then to walk back into the lounge, my hands carrying four glasses. I handed Sonya and Trita theirs and lastly, Aurora's. I smiled down at her and winked visibly. Aurora shot me a glare.
The two girls gave Aurora a surprised and questioning look. I sat down on the couch next to Aurora.
"So Thane, Aurora tell's us you're quite the smart cookie..." Trita asked as she sipped at her water.
I chuckled; "Is that so? Well, she's definitely much more intelligent than I'll ever be."
Sonya wiggled her eyebrows at Aurora when she thought I wasn't looking. Aurora kicked her.
"Are you visiting your dear friend long?" Trita asked me and I smiled widely.
"Oh, yes, the whole holiday."
Trita and Sonya seemed extremely excited by that news, but Aurora looked like she was going to slap someone.
"Let's go swim!" Trita shouted and Sonya agreed loudly. Aurora narrowed her eyes at her bubbly friend and I merely smiled and said; "Sounds like fun. I'll go get dressed."
The girl giggled as I ran up the stairs. I could hear them talk as I grabbed my swimming trunks and undid my belt. Aurora sounded pissed.
"Swim? Now? It's ten in the morning and it's misty!"
Sonya scoffed; "It'll get warmer in like an hour or so..."
Trita giggled; "It's your fault- you could've just said 'yes, he has a ridiculous body', but now Sonya and I have to take matters into our own hands."
Sonya gushed; "He's so charming! And kind of..."
"Dangerous!" Trita finished her thought.
A chuckle escaped my mouth- if only they knew.
I threw my shirt over my head and tied the strings to my grey trunks. If they wanted a show, I'd give them a show.
I wanted Aurora to claim me as hers.
I needed her to want me like I wanted her- to have this need to possess me.
I strolled down the stairs, not bothering to cover my bare chest or to tug up my trunks as they sat low on my hips, the claws of my scorpion tattoo sticking out. Aurora was the first one to see me; her eyes filling with lust and I could clearly see her swallow hard.
Trita and Sonya turned their heads when they noticed that Aurora wasn't paying attention to the conversation anymore. They both gasped softly- Trita slapping a hand to her mouth. I pretended not to notice and ran a hand through my dark hair.
"I'm heading out so long, are you girls joining me?"
Trita nodded like her head was made from elastic and Sonya just timidly said; "Ah-huh..."- her eyes not even on my face.
Aurora gave me a lust-filled look and bit her lip. I had the urge to grab her right there and then, but she'd probably kill me.
So I walked away casually before I changed my mind. I felt the burning stares on my back as I walked.
This little holiday was going to be very interesting...
NEXT UPDATE- 13th of July...
