You're Scared Of Me?
Demoman X Frightened!Reader
---------------------------------------------------
Alcohol is nothing more than a drug for the poor people who can't handle reality. It brings nothing but trouble and pain to the consumer and the people around them. Why does something so innocent looking have to be so evil?
This it how you looked at alcohol, nothing more than an evil drug that took people over and turned then into someone else, but you didn't always think this way about the beverage. When you were little you didn't care for alcohol you thought is smelled and tasted bad so you stayed away from it like any other child would. But as you became older, and your mother left, you noticed things about your dad you hadn't noticed before he drank a lot of alcohol and was grumpy all time. Before, when your mother was still with your dad , he was happy but still drank large amounts of alcohol. His attitude was the only thing that changed, and when he was angry he took out his pain on you; beating you up till you were too tired of screaming or fighting back.
Over the years when you noticed your father becoming drunk you would pack a bag full of camping gear and escape for the forest for a day or three just to be safe. When you'd come back your father would look at you and nothing more going back to whatever he was doing before.
Once you were old enough to leave the house you were too afraid to tell your dad, so you left in secrecy only writing a note saying these four words 'goodbye, love you, dad.' Soon after leaving you found a job as a mercenary at the red base of Two-Fort. You grew a liking to everyone except when they were drunk that's when you hid in your room. To be honest the one person you couldn't be around was the drunken Scot who scared you every time he was drunk which was basically all the time. It was like that for many years; you'd avoid contact with the Scottish man not knowing you were actually hurting him.

You heard the sound of laughter and bottles clinking together as you sat in your room, and looked at your bed door expecting to see one of your teammates come barging in all drunk and crazy. You knew no one was going to do that because they never did, they left you alone in your room safe from the scary drunken men, but as you heard footsteps come down the hall you couldn't help but scramble you your door and fumble with the lock.
After locking your door you gave a sigh as the footsteps walked past your door going further down the hall. You slowly backed away from your door grabbing your phone and earbuds and walked to the far corner of your room where three bookshelves towered to the ceiling. Plopping down on your bean bag you put your earbuds in your ears and turned on your music. You grabbed one of the books off your bookshelf and started to read letting all of the emotions of the characters become one with your own.
'Janet! Kaye screamed, pushing her way to the water. But when she got there, there was onl-' You stopped reading and took out your left earbud. *Tap, tap, tap* someone was tapping on your door. You couldn't help but shudder at the tapping sound. Opening your mouth to speak the only thing that came out was a shaky breath. 'Why am I scared?' You asked yourself. After taking a deep breath you finally managed a 'who's there?'
"It'sa me *hic* Demo *hic hic*," You immediately froze your (e/c) eyes widening. "I *hic* want to tell ya*hic* somethin'." You slowly shook your head fear taking over your body.
"N-n-no, no, g-go away." You stammered your body starting to shake violently. Pulling your body close to yourself, you curled into a tiny ball horrid memories flooding back to when your father was drunk.
---------------------------------------
"I said shut it!" Your father yelled kicking you across the room pain flooding all over your body ,as you held in a grown. "You worthless piece of shit!" You flinched as your father grabbed your (h/l) (h/c) hair and pull you up so your feet were barely touching the ground. "You're the reason, the reason Kali left!" Your father spat his breath reeked of beer, as he threw you against the wall knocking the wind out of you.
"Pl-"
"I SAID SHUT THE HELL UP YOU LITTLE BRAT!!!" Your father cut you off by kicking you in the stomach this caused you to cough up blood and fall limp. Your father then picked up his beer bottle and hit you, blood trickled down your side your body becoming numb. "Hmph, maybe this'll teach you a lesson in obeisance" With that said your so called dad left you with dull eyes as you lay there feeling nothing. You were lucky to have not died that night and thanked God over and over for keeping you alive.

*Thud thud*
Demo was still knocking on your door your body frozen with fear as tears streamed down your face. 'Please just go away,' You thought, burying your face in your knees. "God above please keep me safe, please keep me safe, please keep me safe." You pray to yourself shutting your eyes tight as Demo spoke again, this time, sounding a little soberer.
"Why are yeh not answerin' me?" He sounded heartbroken, "how come yeh never talk to me? I don't get it, I've never done anythin' to you, so why?"
You were still frozen, but the fear was slowly leaving your body as you took deep breaths to respond. 'No, no, nonono, I didn't want to hurt anyone but... but, I was hurting him. I- I...' You couldn't think straight, you thought Demo was a scary man but you never really got to know him. "What have I done?" You whispered clutching your head as tears waterfalled from your eyes.
"(y/n), whatever I did please tell me so I can fix it." You heard a quiet thud on your door and looked up fear still painting your eyes.
"Yo-you didn't do a-anyt-thing," you stammered whipping the tears from your eyes as you slowly stood up and walked towards your bedroom door. "You didn't do anything, and I'm sorry." Your head thud against the door as you stared at your feet.
You finally had enough courage to unlock your door, but you hesitated on opening it. Your body was trembling and your hands shook, but you took a deep breath and opened your door your eyes still fixated on the ground where you saw Demo's boots. You bit your lower lip your body still trembling; instinctively you closed your eyes and was once again praying to God.
"There, there lass." You felt a pair of strong arms wrap around you, your body instantly tensing up, now your small body trembled like a leaf and your breathing became heavy. "What's the matter with you?" Demo pulled you out of the hug and looked down at you. "Please give me an answer."
You tried to look him in the eyes but find it too hard; you finally had to look away and took a deep breath. "Y-you, you... you scare me okay!" You yelled. Demo looked at you in shock. Tears started to swell in your eyes .
"But why?"
"Alcohol." Was all you mutter out.
"What about it?" Demo asked putting a hand on your quivering shoulder.
You thought about the scar on the side of your stomach were your father's beer bottle had stabbed you. You slowly lifted your shirt revealing the scar, your (e/c) eyes darkened as the terrible memory came to mind your shaking had stopped and you stood silent for a couple minutes before speaking.
"This is one of the reasons why," you said pulling down your shirt, "my father did that to me many years ago when he was drunk and angry. He hit me and kicked me countless times but... that one beating, that one beating left this scar." You finally looked up at Demo and gave a small shy smile. "I hate alcohol because it changes people in bad ways. I know there are different ways people take alcohol and my father happened to be the one to get angry and become a monster when he wasn't sober." Your eyes were still unusually dark as sadness came over you.
Once again you felt Demo's strong arms wrap around you, this time, you didn't tense up, nor did you start shaking. You just rested your head on his chest and closed your eyes and listened to his heartbeat.
"Well yeh don't havta worry about me gettin' angry when I'm drunk, it almost never happins'." You smiled and finally wrapped your arms around Demo hugging back with a node of your head.
"Alright, I'll try not to be scared of you... I-I promise." You whispered.
