Fairy tales

Child!Scout x Horned!Child!Reader

-------------------------------------------------------------

Little Scout was off playing hide-n-seek in the forest with his friends Soldier and Sniper. He was the seeker at the moment but knew he wouldn't be for long because he knew exactly where Soldier and Sniper were hiding.

He raced across the forest to the first hiding spot where the young Soldier was hiding. It was a little deep hole found in between two large tree roots. Scout looked down and smiled at Soldier who gave a small huff of disappointment while folding his little arms across his chest.

"You're a cheater." Soldier whispered as he climbed out of the root hidden hole. The young Boston rolled his icy blue eyes and ignored Soldier, once again racing off to find his other friend.

Scout found the young Sniper not long after finding Soldier; he was hiding in the old willow tree in the forest clearing where the rainbow of flowers grow, and the oldest trees stand tall and proud.

Young Sniper was disappointed because he was found, but happy that he didn't have to be it. So after listening to Soldier ramble on about how Scout was a cheater, and that he shouldn't have to be it because it wasn't' fair and what not, he finally gave in and started counting because Soldier knew well that he wasn't going to win.

"One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three, Mississippi, fou..." Soldier counted as Scout and Sniper sneaked off to look for a decent hiding spot. Scout watched as Sniper ran off left, going in the direction of the cavern not far from the root hole hiding place. Scout shook his head and gave a quiet chuckle at his friend.

'Sniper always hides there when Soldier is it,' The Boston boy thought as he raced to find an unequal hiding spot, 'but me I always look for different hiding places to shake thing up, because if I didn't I'd be boring like... wait what's that?'

Scout stopped running and stared at one of the many clearings in the forest. There, kneeling down, was a small girl with (s/c) skin, (h/l) (h/c) hair, a baggy cream shirt, and a long red cloth that was wrapped around the girl's waist like a dress. Scout was confused to see what looked to be twigs sticking out of the girls head He stood staring from afar for about 2 minutes before walking towards the strange girl, till he was standing right behind her.

From afar the girl looked normal; not counting the twigs sticking out of her head, but up close the girl was as beautiful as springtime itself. Which is pretty where he lives. Her (s/c) skin and (h/l) (h/c) hair looked smooth and soft as it shined in the evening sun and her cream shirt wasn't only cream there was a red design on the cuff of the sleeves and bottom rim. That made the girl look even prettier up close making Scout's cheeks heat up.

The (h/c) haired girl didn't seem to notice him which made him mad because, well, he loved to be the center of attention, but beggars can't be chooser right.

He knelt down and gently grabbed one of the girls twigs, but they weren't twigs at all they were horns, like that of a buck (or male deer.) This action made the horned girl flinch forward and quickly turned around. Scouts face then became hot as he stared at the (h/c) haired girls face her (e/c) orbs were like that of a summer flower he couldn't quite remember.

The girl looked frightened but curious. Her lips were slightly parted, and her baggy cream shirt swished and fell to her side. Scout noticed the girl wasn't wearing any shoes, so she stood barefoot in the wet grass.

Time seemed to stop as they stared at each other, curiosity filling both the children. The sun shined down on clearing making all the flowers glow with an almost magical light. A light breeze blew across the clearing making the girls hair lightly flap in the wind. The two children each took a step closer to each other till they were only two small hops from touching.

"Hello, my n-name is Scout, what's your's?" The young Scout asked with a stutter, his Boston accent spilling from his lips, as he motioned the small girl to shake his hand. The horned girl gently took Scout's hand and shook with a small smile on her pink lips.

"My name is (y/n), it's nice to meet you." The young girl's voice was soft and kind, definitely not the kind of vocals he used to. The girl continued to smile as she let go of Scout's hand. "So is Scout your real name?"

Scout shook his head and slightly blushing. How could he be so stupid and tell this beautiful girl his nickname? While Scout was mentally punching himself, the girl knelt back down and started to pick flowers again.

"Well Scout, would you like to help me pick flowers for my dead pet?" (Y/n) asked, looking up at the brunette haired boy with pleading eyes. The young Boston's heart never felt like this before; all soft and warm, it wasn't really his style, but this girl brought out the mushy side of him. He nodded his head and knelt down next to the girl and started to pick some of the flowers.

Scout had completely forgotten about the game of hide-n-seek and watched as (y/n) knelt down and placed the abundant of flowers down in front of a large stone. She put her hand together, closed her (e/c) eyes and started to pray silently. Scout copied the girl's actions paying his respects to (y/n) dead pet.

Once they were done, the horned girl turned and smiled at Scout. Her (e/c) orbs shined with a new light as she grabbed his hand and shot up and ran back to the clearing where they met.

"I have to show you something!" The girl exclaimed as she continued to run.

They stop at the edge of the forest a place Scout has never ventured before. (Y/n) extended her arm and pointed a finger to a gang of bison. The large mammals were grazing on the tall grass and would make funny noises once in awhile.

(Y/n) let go of Scout's hand and shot towards the bison, she slowed down when she became three feet away from the large animals. The horned girl slowly walked towards the bison her arm outstretched and her hand open as she went low to the ground.

Scout watched in amazement as the young girl's hand gently touched a giant bison's side. Scout slowly made his way towards the girl who looked back at him and smiled a toothy smile, once again melting his heart.

"What do you think Scout?" The girl asked, tilting her head, "it's cool isn't it?" Scout nodded with a smile.

          "Yeah."

          "You want to pet him?"

(Y/n) didn't give him time to answer, she took his wrist in her hand and placed it gently in the bison's main. Scout was scared stiff; he's never touched a bison before and frankly the larger mammals kind of scared him.

"Don't be afraid Scout." The horned girl whispered, as she let go of the Boston's wrist and started to pet the bison as well. "He won't hurt you, I promise." (Y/n) soothed, as she continued to pet the large mammal.

After about two minutes of petting the bison, the gang started to slowly leave wandering farther into in grasslands. The two children watched as the beasts turned into tiny specs then disappeared into the evening horizon.

The children stared at the reds, oranges, purples, and pinks as the sun set lower into the horizon the two stayed like that for awhile then Scout remembered his friends.

'Oh no, I forgot all about them!' Scout exclaimed to himself, his gaze shot to (y/n) her face looked peaceful as she combed her fingers through her (h/l) (h/c) hair. 'What am I going to say? Umm (y/n) I have to go... No, that's terrible. How about (y/n) I had a great time with you, but I have to go now... No that's bad too... Think Scout, think!'

"Hey Scout, I had a great time with you, but my mother will start to worry if I don't get home soon," (y/n) cooed, she sounded sad, "but we can see each other soon if that's all right with you?!" Her voice shot up in happiness and hope as she turned her head to Scout.

"Yeah!" Scout exclaimed, his hopes rising, "I come to da forest all da time to play hide-n-seek, maybe I could sneak away while I'm not the seeker."

(Y/n) expression was filled with excitement as she shot forward and engulfed Scout into a massive bear hug.

"That would be great!" (Y/n) squeaked, as she pulled away, leaving a blushing Scout shocked and jubilant. "Oh, my mother's here I have to go now. Bye Scout, see you soon!" The young horned girl called as she waved goodbye.

Scout walked back to the meeting spot where he met his two friends Soldier and Sniper, they both had angry expressions and looked ready to kill him.

"Where have ye' been mate?" The young Australian snapped, his arms folded across his chest.

"Hidin' whad else would I be doin'?" The young Boston boy retorted. Both Sniper and Soldier raised an eyebrow. "I was!" He exclaimed throwing his hands up. Scout brought down his arms and folded them across his chest. "Whatever let's get back, it's gettin' dark." With that said Scout turned and started home.

Sniper gave Scout a questioning look but shrugged it off and followed with Soldier at his side.
