Caleb
So cause I feel like it and cause no one reads this I'm going to be doing a small commentary throughout this. Anything you see in italics like this is my being an asshole author. You can ignore it if you so wish. Enjoy!
Way too soon about 50 adults came into the room and everyone quieted down. I was disappointed, Abe was telling a story of how he went rafting and he was getting all excited and it was adorable. (Awwww)
The head adult, who turned out to be Miss Walker, (Fun fact: Miss Walker is an asshole) took a step out. "Hello, everyone! I hope you all enjoyed dinner. For the 4 hours we have until lights out you will be separated into groups of 8. I will call each teacher forward and they will pick 8 of you. The teachers will lead you through orientation. Lights out is at 11:00." She pulled out a list and began to read off names.
I leaned over to Sky and whispered. "Is it just me or do you think the teachers all act like overly peppy camp counselors?" (I hate overly peppy people. It's really annoying)
She nodded, "I was just thinking that."
The girl named Luna leaned over and shushed me. "I'm sorry for shushing you but I'm trying to listen."
I shut up, Luna seemed pretty nice but also someone you wouldn't want to get on her bad side. (Don't mess with the moon girl)
Miss Walker called out. "Mr. Somney." (Fun fact: I was writing this in French and we were watching a French news video and I needed a name and I looked up at the video and that was the name on the screen) A tall man with small round glasses and dark brown hair stepped forward and pointed at our table. "You 8, Come with me."
We all stood up and followed him out. He led us to a classroom that had all the desks pushed to one wall. He sat down on the floor and motioned for us to do the same. "Hello!" He said following my hypothesis that all the teachers here used to be there peppy camp counselors.
"My name is Mr. Somney and I test Social Studies. Let's go around real quick and say our names and what we're most excited for this school year. I'll go first: I'm Mr. Somney and I'm most excited for when you guys get your test scores back!" He pointed at me and motioned for me to go next.
"Okay, so I'm Caleb and I'm excited for it to be over." I said with a pointed look. (Caleb is slightly an asshole but he's an adorable asshole) Sky snickered slightly.
"Great. It's fine if you aren't too excited for this" I rolled my eyes, wouldn't anything making this man less annoying.
The others went and when the circle came back around to Mr. Somney he clapped his hands together and said, "So, now it's time to play a game."
We all groaned. "Hey, if you don't want to play a game we can do something else." He said.
We perked up at that. "Okay, what do you want to do?"
"Why can't we just talk?" Ingrid said. (Ingrid is based off of one of my friends who loves to talk, you know who you are)
Mr. Somney shrugged, "Sure. What do you want to talk about?"
Helias spoke up, "Politics and idiot politicians." (Heh. I wrote this in November)
Mr. Somney shook his head, "I'm sorry but legally I am not allowed to talk about politics so I would prefer if we didn't."
"Okay, so instead of doing that why don't you tell us all the secrets of the school." I suggested.
He smiled. "Sure! I'm supposed to tell you what life will be like here anyway."
"Okay, fire away." Sky said.
Mr. Somney didn't stop smiling as he told us, "So after orientation today, tomorrow is your day to explore the town. The next day and for the following month you will have classes. These "classes" are mostly just glorified study hall. You do have a couple like Test Preparation that actually help out. Those teach you what the tests will be like. Those classes are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tuesdays and Thursdays are your time to study. Friday afternoons are movie nights. Saturdays and Sundays are your days to do whatever. You'll soon find that here at Testing we give you a lot of freedom because we're trying to teach you how to be an adult."
Luna raised her hand. "You don't have to raise your hand, Miss..." Mr. Somney said.
"Luna. Um, I was wondering how you grade the test."
"Well you see Miss Luna, for the first week of Testing you will all take the same tests, then, depending on your results, you will take different tests. For example, if, on the beginning tests, if you did really well on the math and science tests you might get more engineering type test and if you fail those then they'd try mathematician or scientist type tests and so on and so forth. Once those are over they tell you what job you're best fit for. Of course you can always choose something else but that hardly ever happens. But as how the actual tests are graded, well I can't tell you that. I don't have that kind of information." He looked around. "Is there anything else you'd like to ask me?"
"Can you show us around the school?" Sky asked.
He shrugged. "Sure. We don't seem to have anything else to talk about and we have some extra time. Let's go!" He stood up and walked to the door.
Okay. This was actually a pretty long chapter compared to some of them. For the 3 people who read this, vote/comment/whatever. I'd like to know who you are.
