26 - You aren't real

When should I put this plan into action? I think to myself while in my room.

I should think back to my plan first. So I will put someone to sleep so they will not wake up. I will tell the person to come with me, and then I will bring them to my room. If possible, I will do it when we have to go to our rooms. Oh right. I was going to change that part, since people will not come. They will go to their own room. Although if I ask them to come with me when we have time in the lounge, they will definitely not come. Even if they do, it will attract attention. Just going alone no one seems to notice me leave, but I can't be sure about going with another person. It's too risky. I guess I'll try the first one...

I sit on my bed, thinking about what I should do now.

What should I do? I finalized the plan... Wait. When will I put this plan into action? I never thought about that. I think I should do it soon. Anytime soon. Such as tomorrow.

I end up sitting on my bed, very bored.

I'm really bored! I'm ready to leave!

That could be a good idea. Leaving my room. I guess I'll leave my room and just walk around.

I get up from my bed, and I open the door to my room. I leave, slamming the door closed.

I walk down the hallway, walking past rooms. I don't walk the direction of the lounge but I walk the other way.

I turn down one of the hallways where the rooms are that lead to even more rooms. I continue to turn down hallways, looking at each.

I should go back to my room now.

I start walking back.

Am I close to it yet? I don't know... I don't... I... I'm lost. I think that I am lost. I don't know where my room is.

I walk down hallways trying to find my own, but I don't see it.

I have no idea if I'm close to it or not! I hate this! I need to find it!

I continue to walk around, looking for it.

Ugh! I can't find it! If I can't find it then... Then I will be stuck here!

I then hear an announcement that we all have to go to the lounge.

I know what I will do. I will follow everyone else to get to the lounge.

Someone walks out of their room, and I start following them. As more people come out of their rooms, I change the person that I am following so no one thinks I am following them. Luckily I get to the lounge.

I'm at the lounge now. I thought I would never get back to my room, let alone the lounge. I know where my room is from here. Although now I don't need to go to my room.

I decide to look for my friend, because I am not putting my plan into action today. I have finalized my plan, so I don't need to work on it at all.

It takes me a little while to find my friend, but eventually I find him.

"Hello," I say to him.

"Hello," he replies.

"Do you want to talk?" I ask.

"Sure," he replies.

"What do you want to talk about?" I ask.

"What do you want to talk about?" he asks me.

"I don't know," I reply.

"There isn't really anything to talk about, is there?" he asks me.

"Yeah, there isn't."

"Do you want to play a game?" he asks me.

"I guess, sure," I say.

"What game do you want to play?" he asks.

"I don't know."

"How about some time soon we both find out about new games," he says.

"How?" I ask.

"You can ask your other friend to show you another game. Then we will both share the game we learned about."

"Yeah... maybe..." I say, as I don't think I will be seeing my other friend any time soon.

"Do you want to do that?" he asks.

"Not really," I reply.

"Why not?"

"I don't know... I'm just not that interested right now."

"I see. That's fine," he says.

"What game should we play?" I ask.

"Do you want to play my favorite game?" he asks.

"That's fine with me," I say.

We play one round of his favorite game, and I lose.

"I lose, you win," I say.

"Do you want to play again?" he asks me.

"Sure," I reply.

We play a few more rounds, and I lose all of them.

"I keep on losing!" I say.

"I'm sure you will get better eventually," he says.

"You're too good at this game," I say.

"Really?" he asks.

"Yeah! Way too good."

"Well I guess I have observed others play this game before..."

"You must have observed a lot," I say.

"I guess I have," he says.

"Do you want to play my favorite game now?" I ask.

"Sure," he replies.

We play a few rounds of my game, and I have lots of fun. I find this game much easier than the game that he showed me, although I enjoy both. I just enjoy this one much more. It is easy, and I easily relax while playing this game. Even though it can frustrate me a little when I can't figure out what the object is, I feel like I can forget everything.

"What should we do now?" I ask.

"I don't know. Do you want to play another game?" he asks.

"Not really," I say.

"How about we talk about something. I wonder when our next meal will be."

"Are you hungry?" I ask.

"No," he replies.

"I'm not hungry either," I say.

"Then our next meal probably will not be any time soon," he says.

"Yeah," I say agreeing.

"Have you had testing recently?" he asks me.

"Hmm... not that I can think of. I haven't been having it much recently. Why do you ask?"

"I don't know. I was just curious."

"Have you had it recently?" I ask.

"Yeah, I had it yesterday."

"Oh."

-

"What should we do now? Do you want to play another game?" he asks me.

"Not really...." I say, feeling very tired.

"Then what should we do?" he asks me.

"I... don't know..." I say, and I fall asleep.

I hear someone saying, "Wake up! Wake up!" I can hear them crying.

I slowly open my eyes.

"You! I've been crying for days!" someone says to me.

"How much time has passed?" I ask.

I look around, and I notice that this person and I are the only people in the room. The room has a dark and cold feel to it. Everything in the room is gray, except for the person I am talking to. They have a gray tint in them, but they are not only gray like everything else in the room.

"Days!" they yell.

"Ok... How many days?" I ask.

"I lost count... days ago. I warn you. Stop."

"Stop? Stop what?" I ask.

"Don't do anything bad," they say.

I notice that this person looks like me. They just look older.

"What? How do you know me? Why were you crying?"

"Don't ask me how I know you," she says coldly, "and for the record, the crying was just an act. I had to get your attention. You weren't waking up."

"Where is my friend?" I ask.

"Your friend?" she asks me.

"Yeah! My friend. He was here with me... and then I fell asleep," I say.

"I... don't know who your friend is," she says sadly.

"You... don't? I thought that you would know, since when I woke up you were here."

"No... Who is your friend?" she asks me.

"Well... my friend is male. He's really nice! Although I'm his only friend..." I say.

I don't trust this person. I don't trust her. I'm going to pretend to be normal.

"I'm...." she says looking sad, as if she is trying hard to remember something, "not sure if I know him."

"Oh..." I say.

"Have you done anything bad?" she asks me.

"No..." I say, hoping that she believes me, "Why would I do anything bad?"

"I was just wondering. Make sure you don't do anything bad," she says.

"Oh. Do you think I will see my friend again?" I ask.

"Well... I have to go now. I'll bring you back," she says.

"Bring me back? Back where? Where do you have to go?" I ask.

The girl then disappears.

"Hey! Hey!" I can hear someone saying.

I open my eyes.

"Hi," I say, realizing my friend is here.

"You fell asleep, are you alright?" he asks me.

"Yeah, I fine," I reply.

What was that? There was that girl who looked like me but older... She was talking to me, but she was the only one in the room. The room felt lonely...

"You sure?" he asks me.

"Yes, I'm fine!" I say, yelling a little.

"Alright...." He says.

"Well... I think I'm going to go to my—Oops!" I say, realizing my mistake and then I quickly say, "I mean I'm going to spend some time by myself!"

"You're acting a little weird..." he says to me.

"I'm fine! Really!" I say going off to a seat near the rooms.

Once I am sure that he cannot see me, I quickly go to my room.

That was really weird... That girl. I must have just imagined it all...

I find myself very bored in my room, so I go back to the lounge and I sit in a chair. I quickly fall asleep.

-

"Hello," someone says to me.

I open my eyes. It's that girl from before! I'm imagining things again!

"I'm imagining things again," I say.

"No. You're not. I'm real."

"You're... real? Then were did everyone go? Why is the room so dark? Why is everything gray? Why are you only tinted gray?" I look at myself and then say, "Why am I only tinted gray?"

"Me," is all she replies with.

"What?" I ask.

"It's me. Here, we are the only ones. It's somewhere that only we can go. Only I can bring you here. For everyone else, it just seems like you are sleeping. The room is dark because I can't make it brighter. I can't take the gray away," she says.

"Why... are we only tinted gray and not the color of something as it would be in the color gray?" I ask.

"That's because... we are the only... only... one... ones," she says.

"Only one ones?" I ask.

"I meant to say ones. I don't talk to many other people," she says.

"What is your life like?" I ask.

"I can't tell you that."

"Why?"

"That is classified information," she says sadly.

"Classified information?" I ask.

"Something secret," she says.

"Oh."

"I have to go now," she says.

"Wait!" I say and she has disappeared.

I wake up, back in the lounge.

That was weird... I saw that girl again. Did I imagine it in my sleep? Or was it real? I would assume I imagined it... but it all seemed so real.

The rest of the day, I end up thinking about that girl that I met. I know that I must have imagined it all...

The next day, I am feeling very excited as I will be putting my plan into action. I can't wait! I can't wait!

While in the lounge I am told to go to testing.

"Test subject 10652 please report to testing. Test subject 10652 please report to testing," I hear.

I get up and I go to testing.

"Your testing will not be that long today," the scientist tells me once we have arrived at the testing room we will be in today.

She hands me a purple drink. I drink it and then lay down. I fall asleep.

"Hello," I hear someone say, and I recognize this voice.

I open my eyes. I am alone with that girl again.

"I'm imagining things yet again," I say.

"You're not. I promise you," she says to me.

"Then why does it only happen sometimes when I fall asleep?" I ask.

"I can only reach you when you are asleep or I make you sleep," she says.

"I still think I'm imagining things."

She sighs, "When will you realize that you're not imagining things?"

"I don't know. When I realize that I was just imagining things for sure?"

"Don't you think you wouldn't see me 3 times in the same place if you were imagining things? Don't you think that you would start seeing other things? That what you would see here would change? Such as maybe other people would just appear? You would find yourself in your room?" she asks me.

"You're... right," I say.

"See? You're not imagining things," she says.

I sit there. I can't think of anything to say.

"I will be going now," she says.

I find myself back in the testing room. I can hear scientist 136 and scientist 112 talking.

"I agree with you," I hear scientist 136 say.

I wonder what they are talking about...

"Did you hear?" scientist 112 asks.

"I'm not sure. What happened?" scientist 136 says.

"There's all these things that have been going on in the lounge."

"Really? What?"

"Apparently someone was going to other places or something. Also, someone made everyone sleep. It's unknown how they did it."

"Did they find out who did it?"

"Yeah. Someone came in and saw the test subject who did it. He asked for her number and she said it. Such stupidity. Those test subjects," says scientist 112.

Scientist 136 starts laughing.

"What happened next?" Scientist 136 asks.

"The man told the test subject to go to her room, and she did. He decided to deal with it later," says scientist 112.

"What was the number?"

"96 something... I think. Like 967? That's right. 9672. No. 9673," says scientist 112.

"So it's 9673?" asks scientist 136.

"Yeah. I should get going now."

"Alright. I'll see you later."

I can hear scientist 112 leave.

"Get up," scientist 136 says to me.

I get up.

"You can go to the lounge," she says.

I leave to go to the lounge. When I get to the lounge, I sit in a chair hoping that I can put my plan into action soon.

Soon, I hear an announcement that we all have to go to our rooms.

AN: So for this chapter I don't really have time to put in italics. I'm doing NaNoWriMo, and I need to get back to typing!

I just realized that I have more chapters to post than I thought... lol. Wait actually the last week of November I will be posting the last chapter I have to post.
