After Luna, Tassel, and Bahato sent Sasuke to the other world,  a guy named Satoru Mikami was killed and being reincarnated as a slime after being stab by a robber. He goes by the name Rimuru Tempest after he ate the Storm Dragon, Veldora using his unique skill "Predator". He's been wandering in the woods after he got out of the cave.

Rimuru:  Ahhhh. It's been so long since I've been outside! How long has it been since I walked out in the sunlight?

While Rimuru was crawling in the forest, he saw a young man wearing casual clothing lying down on the ground and saw a lot of books around him. Rimuru was confused, so he walking towards the young man who was lying down.

Rimuru: Um... Excuse me, sir?

The young man slowly opens his eyes and sees Rimuru looking at him. The young man then quickly backs away and hits the tree behind him.

Sasuke: Whoa!!!! A-A talking slime?! It's my first time seeing one! And wait... *looks around* Where am I...? Did I really get reincarnated to a new world...?

Rimuru looks at Sasuke's clothes.

Inner Rimuru: His clothes... He doesn't look like he's from this world. Is he from Earth... No, maybe from Japan just like me?

Rimuru: Hey, what's your name?

Sasuke: I-I'm Sasuke Takahashi, a novelist.

Inner Rimuru: Hm? His name is in Japanese? He really is from Japan.

Rimuru: My name is Rimuru Tempest. I'm a kind and harmless slime. Is this your first time seeing a slime?

Sasuke: Yeah. I've seen a lot of talking slime in some anime shows, but never in real life. Well, you might not know what anime is. You wouldn't understand.

Inner Rimuru: Idiot! I know everything about it, dammit! Don't underestimate me!

Rimuru: Hey, Sasuke-kun. Are you here all by yourself? 

Sasuke: Well, yeah. I just died from an accident a while ago and this is my first time being in this world. I don't know where I will go and I don't know anything about this new world either. I don't think I'll be able to go on this adventure by myself.

Rimuru: Is that so? It's also my first time here in this world, too.

Sasuke: Really?

Rimuru: Yeah. And if you need help and wanted someone to accompany you, I don't really mind tagging along with you on the road.

Sasuke: That would be great! Thanks, Rimuru! 

Rimuru: No problem, Sasuke-kun. So then, should we get going?

Sasuke: Well, yeah... *sweatdropped* But the problem is...

Sasuke and Rimuru turned their heads around and see a lot of books lying around on the ground.

Sasuke: I don't think I'll be able to bring all of these books with me when I travel, and I don't want to leave them here without someone looking after them.

Rimuru: That really is a problem...

Sasuke: Well, I guess I'll have to bring what I need. I'll just come back for all of this later. It's not like bandits or anyone is just going to steal all of this. There's no civilization around here.

Rimuru: Yeah, that's true.

Rimuru and Sasuke suddenly hear the sound of footsteps heading towards them. They look towards where the sound came from and see a small group of goblins standing before them.

Rimuru: Well, it looks like we're about to have one funny story to remember, Sasuke.

Sasuke: Goblins...? This world really is a magical world. 

"Strong ones, do you have business here?"

Rimuru/Sasuke: Strong ones?

They both looked around and then pointed at each other.

Rimuru/Sasuke: You mean him?

The goblin nodded. 

Sasuke: Wait, why are you pointing at me? I'm just a novelist.

Rimuru: Did you really expect a slime to be a powerful being? I thought you would be some kind of hero after you arrived in this world.

Sasuke: *looks at the goblin* More importantly, did you need something?

"We sensed powerful beings, so we came here as a precaution." 

Rimuru: I don't sense anything like that.

Sasuke: I'm sorry, but I think you got the wrong person. I'm just a novelist. 

"Surely you jest! Even if you try to face us, we won't be fooled!"

Sasuke: I think he's really referring to you, Rimuru.

Rimuru: Yeah. I thought so, too.

"Strong ones, having seen your powers, we wish to ask a favor."

Sasuke/Rimuru: Hm?

(Goblin Village)

Sasuke and Rimuru were led to the goblin village and were now sitting in front of the goblin elder inside the main house.

Elder: W-Welcome, visitors... I am the elder of this village...

Rimuru: *sweatdropped* H-Hi, nice to meet you.

Sasuke: Same here.

Rimuru: So, what favor did you want to ask of us?

Elder: ... Have you noticed that monsters have been unusually active of late?

Rimuru: No...

Sasuke: I don't think so... Why?

Elder: Our god disappeared one month ago? As a result, monsters in the area have been continually harassing us.

Inner Sasuke: They have a god? But who?

They were referring to the Storm Dragon, Veldora.

Elder: We tried to fight them, but we lack the numbers...

"S-So we hoped you would..."

Sasuke: "Help out",  right? That depends on what kind of situation you are in whether it's an emergency or not.

Rimuru: As for me, I'm just a slime. I doubt I can do all the things you expect of me.

Sasuke: And I'm not really much of a fighter. I'm just a novelist.

Elder: Please, don't be modest.

"Don't be modest."

Elder: A mere slime would not emit such an intense aura. You are quite famous, are you not?

Rimuru: Aura?

Rimuru asked the Great Sage in his mind to change Magic Sense's perspective and lets him look at himself, and this whole time, Rimuru has been emitting an aura the entire time.

Rimuru: Leave it to the elder to notice.

Elder: But of course. You cannot hide the formidable air about you.

Rimuru: I see... So you figured it out. You guys show a lot of potentials.

Rimuru absorbed his aura back into his slime body. 

Elder: Ah..Have you been testing us? It's fortunate that so many of us were frightened by your aura.

Rimuru: Y-Yeah, that's right! You've got potential if you can talk to me without fear!

Elder: Thank you so much. Ah, as for the favor we wish to ask...

Sasuke: Sure, what is it that you ask?

(Timeskip)

The Elder told Sasuke and Rimuru everything about what happened in the goblin village. According to the goblins, wolf monsters, Direwolves, attacked them from the easy, and many Goblins died in the ensuing battle. Apparently, Direwolves were so much more powerful than Goblins that it takes ten Goblins to even have a chance at beating on a Direwolf. And there was one warrior among them with a name, who served as their guardian. Even that warrior was killed, leaving the village in peril.

Sasuke: How many Direwolves are out there, Elder?

Elder: There are about 100 Direwolves in total.

Rimuru: How many lives in this town? How many can fight?

Elder: Including females, we have about 60 who can fight.

Sasuke: I see... That's a pretty devastating difference in strength. This is going to be a little difficult to deal with.

Rimuru: So did that Goblin warrior fight them knowing he couldn't win?

Elder: No... That warrior gave his life just retrieving information on the Direwolves for us. The warrior was my son and his elder brother.

Sasuke: I... I'm sorry for your loss, Elder.

Rimuru: Elder, tell us one thing.

Elder: Y-Yes?

Rimuru: What will we get in return for helping this village? What can you guys give us?

Sasuke: *looks at Rimuru* It's always about the greed you're looking for, huh?

Sasuke really hated that after what Rimuru just said. Rimuru wasn't looking for compensation. He just wants to put on a bit of a show.

Elder: W-We will offer you our loyalty! *bows* Please grant us your protection! If you do, we will swear loyalty to you!

"We will swear!"

Rimuru: ...

Sasuke: ...

Then they all heard a howl. A Direwolf howling on top of the hills not far from the goblin village. The Goblins were afraid and they were starting to panic. 

"T-The Direwolves!"

"This is terrible!"

"We're done for!" 

"We'll all be eaten!" 

"Let's run!"

"B-But where?!"

Sasuke and Rimuru looked at each other as they both nodded and turn their attention to the Goblins.

Rimuru: There's no need to fear.

Sasuke: That's right. It's too early for all of you to give up.

The Goblins turn their attention to Sasuke and Rimuru who were coming out of the main house.

Rimuru: We're going to defeat them.

Elder: Y-You mean...

Rimuru: In lieu of the Storm Dragon, Veldora. I, Rimuru Tempest, will grant your wish!

Sasuke: This isn't what I expect on my first day here in this world, but this is getting very interesting. *smiles* Whenever there's trouble, I'll always lend a helping hand. It's a promise.

All of the Goblins have expressions of gratefulness on their faces and they bow to Sasuke and Rimuru.

Elder: Thank you so much! We are your loyal servants, Great Rimuru, Sir Sasuke!

Rimuru: You can count on us.

Sasuke: Okay, this is getting pretty weird for a novelist like me...

Sasuke and Rimuru became the Goblins' leaders, their guardians. Unknown to them, they were being watched by a strange dark monster holding a sword on top of a hill. 

??????: It has been almost 3 years since I was reborn in this new world. And... I knew I recognize that smell before, but... He's not the same guy. Well, no matter. Looks like things are about to get interesting. I guess it's about time I will have some fun with him.

Then the creature walks into the forest.

?????: So that guy is the new Saber, huh?... Hahahahaha. Interesting.
