Chapter 1: A Second Chance

(Intro)

(Three Years Later...)

It was just a normal day like any other day. Everyone in Japan was doing their usual daily routine, but there's one guy who has not been paying attention to his surroundings and focuses on what novel he should write. A young man with brown hair and glasses was walking home after he graduated from high school a few weeks ago. His name... was Sasuke Takahashi.

Sasuke: Hmm... I wonder what kind of book I should write first...

Sasuke takes out a small pocket notebook from his jacket and then he opens the book and sees blank pages.

Sasuke: *sigh* I know I wanted to become a novelist, but thinking of a good and amazing story is really hard... Am I really going to pull this off before I graduate college...?

While Sasuke was walking, he saw the traffic light turn green as he stops and waited for the traffic light to turn red. As he stops, a little girl ran past him without even looking to the left or right.

Sasuke: H-Hey, come back! The light is still green!

Suddenly, a truck just came by and the truck driver saw the little girl and pushes the brake pedal. The truck couldn't stop the truck on time and Sasuke quickly rushed towards the little girl.

Sasuke: Watch out!!!

Everything around turned into slow motion. The little girl turns her head and saw the truck. Sasuke pushes her out of the way and Sasuke got hit by the truck at a huge impact. Everything end in just a blink of his eyes. Sasuke was lying on the ground with blood coming out of his head and mouth. Could this be the end for him in this world...?

(In Heaven)

Sasuke felt nothing as he slowly wakes up. He saw a woman wearing a white dress, a man with a ponytail wearing casual clothing, and a weird man with green long hair wearing weird novel clothes sitting in front of him drinking coffee in an old Japanese-style living room.

Sasuke: This place is... a Japanese-style living room?

????: Oh my. It seems you are awake.

Sasuke: Eh? What do you mean?

??????: Isn't it obvious? You're dead.

??????: We're very sorry about this, but you died in an accident.

Sasuke: I see... So that wasn't a dream... By the way, who are you people?

Luna: Ah, forgive me. My name is Luna. This is Tassel and Bahato.

Bahato: *waves* Yo.

Tassel: Nice to meet you... You're um...

Sasuke: It's Sasuke. Sasuke Takahashi.

Tassel: Yes, yes. Sasuke Takahashi-kun. Here, would you like some coffee?

Sasuke: Sure. Thank you.

Sasuke takes the coffee from Tassel and drinks it.

Bahato: You know, we didn't know there would be someone like you who would take that risk to save a little girl even if your life is in danger.

Luna: And not only that, you're quite calm about it after you died.

Sasuke: Yes, I am. I already knew and understood what death is like.

Tassel: How did you know?

Sasuke: Because... my grandfather died from cancer after I graduated high school. He kept his promise and tried to keep fighting until my graduation. I was so happy that he fought for and sees me graduate before he died.

Tassel: Oh... I see...

Luna: We're sorry for your loss...

Bahato: He must be a great guy.

Sasuke: Thanks... So, what makes you think that I would not be calm about this?

Luna: Usually, people always panic a little when they realized they died.

Bahato: That always happened every time.

Tassel: But you're the very first one who is calm about it.

Sasuke: Hm... Maybe it's because it doesn't feel real to me yet? It feels like a dream. But it's no use to complain about what has already been done.

Bahato: You're being judicious about this. You know, right?

Sasuke: I was not expecting that I would at 18, though. So, what am I going to do next? Go to heaven and meet my grandfather? We might have a happy reunion.

Luna: Actually, that's what we want to talk to you about.

Sasuke: Is that so?

Tassel: You see, when we encountered your grandfather, he wanted us to send you someplace else than sending you to heaven.

Sasuke: He said that?

Bahato: Yeah. It was all like this. "Please hear my request. If my grandson dies, please resurrect him into another world. I don't want his journey as a novelist to end. If he ever asks why, just tell him that living in heaven is lonely and boring."

Sasuke: *sweatdrops* H-He really said all of that?

Bahato: Yeah, that's what he said.

Sasuke: Wow. I guess gramps was actually telling the truth about living in heaven is boring.

Tassel: Anyways, you'll be resurrected at once. However, we can't bring you back to life in the world you came from and any world that is similar to your world.

Luna: Those are the rules. So we agreed with your grandfather to bring you back to a different world.

Sasuke: ... Okay, then.

Bahato: Oh? You're sure?

Sasuke: I understand your situation, and I'm grateful for being able to live again at all.

Tassel: You're a good young man, Sasuke-kun.

Luna: Before we send you to a different, is there anything you want to bring with you?

Sasuke: Hmm... Oh, I do have something I want to bring with me. Could you send all of the books and novels I have read along with me in the other world?

Luna: All of your books?

Sasuke: Oh, I suppose you couldn't, right?

Luna: No, no, no, that won't be a problem. We'll send your books to you once you have arrived there.

Sasuke: I see. Thank you. So, this world I'm going to, what kind of place is it?

Bahato: Oh, this is the best part. Compared to your original world, it is not as developed. It's approximately about halfway through what your world calls the Medieval Ages. Well, not all are at the same level.

Sasuke: You mean... The world itself involves magic or mystical creatures?

Bahato: Yeah, something like that.

Tassel: It's a magical world, after all.

Sasuke: *smiles* Okay. Now, this is getting more interesting.

Luna: But, are you sure you just want us to send all of the books you've read to you in the other world?

Sasuke: Yes, that is all. Reading all of the books I have read takes me to new and exciting places. And I've always dreamt of writing my very own book when I started reading.

Luna: *giggle* You really like reading books, right?

Sasuke: Yeah! I love them!

Luna: Hahaha. You know, you reminded me of someone I know back then.

Sasuke: I do?

Luna: I'll tell you that story at another time. Anyways, before we send you to the other world, there's something we want you to have.

Sasuke: What is it?

Luna picks up something from her pocket and gives it to Sasuke.

Sasuke: *confused* What is this...?

Luna: There's not much to explain, but you will know once you arrived in the other world and open that book.

Sasuke: This is a book...?

Luna: Please promise me one thing, Sasuke-kun. Please keep that book safe with you. No matter what happens. If that book falls into the wrong hands, the world would be in danger.

Sasuke: Luna-san... I don't really understand, but... I have a feeling that this book is really important to you... Okay, I'll keep this safe. It's a promise.

Luna: That's good to hear. Thank you, Sasuke-kun.

Sasuke: Wait a minute, if we are in heaven, does that mean you guys are gods?

Bahato: Of course not.

Tassel: Don't be silly, Sasuke-kun.

Luna: We are just spirits living in Heaven. We were only taking over this room to continue Kami-sama's work.

Sasuke: Eh?! Kami-sama is here?! So where is he? I thought He's the only one who can send souls into heaven.

Bahato: He's busy sending good souls to heaven after the incident in Okinawa. So He asked us to take His place here in Toyko.

Sasuke: Oh. That's why. I remember that incident before.

Bahato: You should get going. Your journey in the other world is waiting for you.

Tassel: Until we meet again, Sasuke-kun~!

Luna: Good luck!

Sasuke: Thank you, guys!

A light vortex appeared behind Sasuke as he walks towards and then the light vortex disappears. Luna, Tassel, and Bahato continue to drink their coffee.

Bahato: A very interesting kid... I like him.

Tassel: Are you sure about giving him the Brave Dragon Wonder Ride Book, Luna? Is that boy really our only hope?

Luna: *smiles* Don't worry... I believe in him. And that boy... He reminds me of Touma. The book will be in good hands. We made a promise, after all.

Tassel: I see.

Bahato: Well, I'll be expecting great things from him.

Luna: Don't worry. I know he can do it.

To be continued
