His hand touched the cold wet stone wall as he came tumbling down the old stairs. He queitely reached the end of the stairs and let out a breathe.

He took a torch that was hanging from the wall with him as he entered the prison. He himself couldn't really see anything without light. Some people could see atleast something at night while Calum was night blind.

He closed the door behind him and looked around the place. He had only been here once in his life when he was 15 that was 2 years ago.

A lot of different things had changed in the basement. Instead of wooden bars, there were metal bars which Calum was very thankful for at this very moment. He walked down the hall with prisons very slowly so that he didn't wake any of these monstrocities.

Although Calum walked right into wall and fell backwards. He quickly covered his mouth and listened with sharp ears.

His heart was beating out of his chest as he kept listening. He waited a whole minute untill he heard nothing and decided to continue his path. This time feeling where the walls are as he safely made his way towards the armory room.

His body relaxed a bit as he closed the door behind him. He lit a candle with his torch since it was harder to carry and putted the candle in a lantern.

He looked around at the wall with all kinds off swords. He decided to pick the one that spoke the most to him which was a black sword with silver steel. It was a simple but strong sword. Calum smiled down at it before he tied up the sword holder around his waist. He putted the sword in it and decided to leave the basement quickly.

Calum left trough a secret tunnel under in the basement. Since he always had to clean the castle, he knew many secret places too. Which involved a dark tunnel to the back of the castle.

Calum got out the small tunnel easily since he was very skinny. He jumped into the back of a wooden carriage and stayed hidden under a duvet. It were the night soldiers who went out hunting for food at night.

He layed down and was silent or the whole ride. Calum got bored after a while since he was on the road for a long time, so he looked trough a hole in the duvet and looked at the stars.

He didn't know when the sun would came..

He didn't know if he would survive..

But it felt good...he felt good for once.

After minutes of being in the carriage, Calum got out safely. As the carriage was stopping he quickly jumped out and hid in the bushes before continuing his path.

Calum looked around him. All he saw were dark green colours. Calum knew what this was, it was grass. He had read it in the books. He slowly made his way into the forest and came out on grass field with a waterfall.

"Woah" Calum said as he looked at the water fall. He then saw all different colours on the ground.

Calum crouched down to touch the weird colourful things on the ground. They were in weird colours he had never seen before. Calum took out his little book from one of his pockets and flipped trough the pages. It was a book he got from his father's old chest. He found the one page which said 'flower'. They looked very simular to the things that were planted in the ground. Calum decided to touch it. He wanted to feel it.

As he reached out his hand he heard a voice behind him.

"I wouldn't touch that if i were you, that's delphinium and they're very toxic and the-"

Calum immidiately sat up and took out his sword.

"I see you're a stubborn one" the guys said not being intimidated by Calum at all. He didn't even move a muscle.

"What do you want?" Calum asked queitly. He couldn't really trust anyone out in the open. He tried to look though when in reality he was peteified.

"I was just looking for food and saw that you almost touched that toxic plant there...might as well help someone prevent paralysis..or worse..death" the guy said. "What happened to your eye?" The guy asked.

Calum looked at the guy more closer. blond/brownish hair with a sharp jawline. He had seen this guy before. Calum's eyes widened. hate filled his veins.

"You're that fireling!" Calum spat as he stepped closer with his sword pointing at the guy's throat. The guy was taking back steps.

"You pushed me! You've done this to my cheek!" Calum said pointing at the cut of his face.

"Calm down little one" the guy said as he took of his hood.

Calum stared at the guy with dark blonde waves. Calum couldn't deny the fact that he was humanly very handsome. That didn't stop Calum's hatred towards the guy though.

"I won't calm down!" Calum spat as he snapped and swung his sword at the guy. The guy moved away from the sword hitting him easily.

"Arggh!" Calum groaned and took another swing. He missed and the guy grabbed a wooden stick that was laying on the side quickly. He held it up like a shield.

"Can we please talk for a moment" The guy said very calm as Calum sliced trough the wooden stick and the guy took a step back.

"No!" Calum yelled and used all his force to try stabbing the guy. The guy sighed before taking out his own sword.

"I didn't wanna do this, but.." the guy said as he defended himself with his sword. Their swords touched and Calum used all his power to push back the guy with the sword. He ended up being the weak one and fall backwards. He wanted to grab his sword again but failed when the guy kicked it away from Calum's hands.

The guy then turned towards Calum. "Just do it already.." Calum sighed and sat up.

"I'm not gonna kill you little one" The guy said putting his sword back in his holder.

"What?" Calum asked confused onto why he wouldn't kill him.

"Killing isn't gonna make my life better now is it?" The guy said looking down at Calum.

"I don't know, maybe deep down you love pushing people so that they get a cut on their cheek and faint to get beat up by their uncle the next morning!..." Calum yelled from the ground. He had just admitted that his uncle had abused him, to a stranger. Bad idea. "For all i know" Calum sighed. He knew he was being annoying right now but he was so angry and sad.

"Your uncle..hurt you?" The guy asked sitting next to Calum. "Non of your business" Calum said picking at the grass that was sureounding them. "You were the one starting it" the guy said pulling up his knees.

Calum groaned "yeah well sometimes we say things we are not suppose to, now please kill me...finish your job" Calum said putting the hood of his cape over his head.

"I'm not gonna do that, i'm not a murderer" the guy said sternly. "That's a huge lie!" Calum said raising his voice and standing up. The other guy did so too. "You firelings once burned down our whole entire valley, you took away the chances of growing corps, flowers and feeling the sunlight hit our skin! But most importantly!...you killed my father!" Calum said angrily, he saw that the guy wasn't saying anything and turned on his heel. He reached for his sword and picked it up before putting it in the holder. He started to walk away from the fireling and went over the hill.

He reached the top of the hill and looked at the dark blue sky above him. Calum saw white sparking things in the sky and he thought they were beautiful. Calum sat down for a second and relaxed as he watched the sparkling things in the skies.

"Those are stars"

Calum flinched from the voice and scooted away. "You again! Stop scaring me!" Calum yelled at the fireling he saw just a few minutes ago. "Do i scare you?" The fireling asked sitting next to Calum once again. Calum could feel the man smirking. "Go away" Calum said as he rubbed his temples. "So i do, well little one, don't be afraid i'm not a bad fireling like the others you were talking about...i won't hurt you" the guy said softly. "You're not gonna leave me alone huh?" Calum asked. "Nope" the guy said. "Who are you anyways?" Calum asked now being a little curious.

"My name is Ashton" The guy said and smiled. "How about you little one?" Ashton asked. "Stop calling me little! I'm not little!" Calum said and gave Ashton a push. Ashton started giggling "alright...princess?" Ashton said smirking. "No!" Calum sighed "just call me Calum okay?" He said. "That's a very pretty name you know, it's unique, i like it" Ashton said smiling. "So is your name, i've never heard it before" Calum said picking at the grass again. "That's because we live in different clans, different communities and people" Ashton said.

The two were talking all night about things they both didn't know about the world they both lived in. For some reason Calum felt secure when he was with Ashton. Like nothing could hurt him. He knew it was bad talking to a fireling, but right now he didn't care. He didn't care if he would kill him. He enjoyed the moment but it didn't last long anymore...
