California Camp
Above is Isabele and Arya. Isabele is the brunette and Arya is the blondie.
Isabele Azure walked up to her best friend's door dragging a big suitcase behind her, and raised her fist to knock at the door. She had only knocked twice when her best friend, Arya Johnson, flung open the door with an identical suitcase in hand and threw her arms around Isabele.
"I'm so excited to be going back! It's been too long!" Arya exclaimed. She was talking about the summer camp in California that the two girls had visited every summer until they turned thirteen. They were heading back this year to be counselors, and see all their old counselors who would soon be their coworkers.
"Me too!" said Isabele happily. "I've missed everyone so much!"
Arya shut the front door behind her, and the two began walking over to the bus stop side by side. "Remember the boy who used to have a crush on me- Liam, right? He'll be our age by now." She grimaced with the memory.
Isabele laughed. "What if he hits on you while we're there?"
"Don't even laugh," Arya said seriously. "That would be so awkward!"
Isabele placed a comforting hand on her friend's arm. "He won't. And if he does, he'll have me to deal with," she said, jokingly shaking her fist.
Arya smiled. "What if he's actually hella cute and I eat my words?" she asked.
"Then I laugh at you some more," Isabele teased.
"Some more?" Arya asked, giggling.
"Yes," Isabele grinned.
The girls walked along the sidewalk, chatting, until they reached the bus stop. They stood there for a bit until the bus pulled up and they stepped in, pulling their suitcases up along with them. They handed the driver their tickets and sat down in a seat together, with Arya by the window and Isabele by the aisle.
The bus soon stopped at the airport and both friends got off and walked into the airport with their suitcases.
"How long until our flight takes off?" Arya asked Isabele, who pulled out the tickets and looked them over.
"We board at 3:15, and it's 2 right now, so we have about one and a quarter hours," Isabele responded.
Arya nodded and the two moved to stand in the line to security check. They heaved the suitcases onto the conveyor belt and put their phones in a small tub along with their shoes.
"Walk through right here, ladies," said a security guard standing near the conveyor belt.
The girls walked through what looked like a doorway with no walls, and when Arya went through the sensors started beeping like crazy. The security guard waved her through, and when she did another security guard waved a wand around her body.
The wand beeped when it was next to her waist, and Arya sheepishly pulled up her shirt to reveal a black belt holding her skinny jeans in place.
The guard smiled kindly and nodded at her. "That happens a lot, dear. People seem to forget that their belts have metal buckles."
Arya giggled nervously and slipped past the guard, looking at Isabele with wide eyes. Isabele laughed. "What's that look for?" she asked.
"That was embarrassing!" Arya squealed.
"It's not my fault you left your belt on," teased Isabele. "And why would you even need a belt for skinny jeans? That lady seemed really mad."
"Did she really?" asked Arya worriedly.
"No," Isabele reassured her friend. "We should probably get our stuff, though."
Arya turned to the conveyor belt and grabbed her and Isabele's phones and shoes. She handed Isabele her stuff and the two slipped on their shoes and put the phones in their pockets. Arya and Isabele then grabbed their suitcases and walked over to their gate.
"Flight 329, flying from Seattle to California is now boarding first class passengers," said a woman behind a counter at the girls' gate. About twelve or so people walked up to the counter, pulling suitcases behind them, and boarded. Then the woman said, "Business class passengers may now board flight 329."
Isabele glanced at their tickets. "That's us," she said, handing Arya her ticket. The girls got in line, handed the lady their tickets, dropped off their suitcases, and got on the plane.
"I'm nervous," said Arya, gripping the armrest.
"You're going to be fine," Isabele replied, placing a hand atop her best friend's.
Arya turned to face Isabele, looking frightened. "But-"
"No buts," Isabele interrupted. "Planes are much safer than cars, and you're not scared of cars, are you?"
"No," said Arya hesitantly.
"Okay then. You'll be perfectly fine," responded Isabele.

The girls stepped off the plane pulling their luggage behind them.
"Told you we were gonna be fine," Isabele told Arya, who was smiling.
"I know, and you're always right, Isabele, O Holy One," joked Arya.
Isabele laughed. "Finally, you get it!"
The two laughed and joked until they reached the exit of the airport.
"Are we supposed to take a bus?" Arya asked Isabele.
She nodded. "It gets here at 5:30."
"What time is it?" Arya asked.
"It's 5:25. Oh, actually, I can see the bus coming right now. Look!" She pointed to the left and Arya saw the bus rumbling down the street towards them.

"Welcome back, you two!" said John Reed, the camp director, giving the girls a big hug.
"Thanks, John," said Isabele happily, hugging him back with one hand and still gripping her suitcase handle with the other.
"Yeah, we've missed you," said Arya, who was in the same position.
John let go and backed away a bit. "You two have grown so much," he remarked. " How old are you now?"
"We're twenty-one," Isabele replied. "I can't believe it's been almost nine years!"
"Twenty-one!" John exclaimed. "Well, girls, I hope you're still okay with sharing a cabin?"
"Of course!" Isabele and Arya exclaimed together. They laughed, and so did John.
"Well, you two will be in cabin 12, over by the kitchens. The counselor's meeting area is cabin 20, next to the lake, and we'll be meeting there tonight at seven-thirty to have dinner and the meeting will be over by about nine. See you then! And don't forget to wear your camp t-shirts!" John said.
"Okay, John," said Isabele. "Thank you so much!"
"Of course, girls," said John, giving the girls another hug before waving and walking over to his cabin by the fire pit.
"He put us by the kitchen," Isabele laughed. "He knows us so well, even after nine years! He's about sixty-five by now."
Arya giggled. "He still reminds me of my grandpa."
Isabele smiled and took Arya's hand. They started off to their cabin. "Do you think Loopy Liam is gonna be at the meeting?" Arya asked Isabele.
"Oh my God, Arya," said Isabele. "Just watch him be super hot, seriously."
Arya laughed as she pulled open the cabin door. "Maybe I'll eat my words and you'll be right, maybe you'll eat your words and I'll be right."
"I like the first one better," Isabele said, walking into the cabin as Arya pulled the door shut behind her.
"I know," Arya replied with a smile.
Inside the room was twin beds side by side, two dressers, a small bathroom in the back and a desk with a instant coffee maker perched on top.
"This is so cute!" Isabele squealed. Arya nodded, grinning, and set her suitcase on the nearest bed.
"I call this one," she said.
"Fine with me," replied Isabele. "I don't wanna sleep by the bathroom anyway."
Isabele set her suitcase on the second bed and unzipped the biggest pouch. She pulled out a pair of jeans and a light blue t-shirt that read Camp California on the back and was plain, solid blue on the front.
"I'm gonna change," she told Arya, grabbing the clothes and walking into the bathroom.
Isabele changed quickly and walked out of the bathroom to see Arya in an identical tee and cut-off shorts.
"Ready to go?" she asked Isabele, who glanced at her phone.
"No," Isabele responded. "It's only 6:30. We still have an hour."
"Oh," said Arya, sitting down on her bed. "What should we do?"
"We could unpack and put away our stuff," Isabele offered.
Arya laughed. "Oh, wait. You aren't joking, are you?"
Isabele shook her head, laughing.
"Damn. I knew it was gonna be trouble having a neat freak as a best friend," Arya joked.
Isabele smiled and began pulling pre-folded clothes out of her suitcase and sorting them into piles.
Arya sighed, but started to do the same.
When the girls had finished sorting their clothes and putting them away, Isabele pulled her phone out again to check the time.
"Damn! It's 7:25, we should really go!" she exclaimed, jumping up and shoving her phone back into her pocket.
She grabbed Arya's hand and pulled her up, dragging her out the door and over to cabin 20.
Isabele threw open the door and she and Arya hurried inside.
The cabin was full of counselors wearing their tees, and they all turned to look at the girls when they burst in the door.
"Hello, girls," said John, and all the chatter from before returned to the room. "I have a couple people I'd like to introduce you to."
He led the girls over to a pair of boys that were standing alone in the corner.
"This is Miles," John said, pointing to a curly brown haired boy. Miles held out his hand and Isabele and Arya shook it.
Arya nudged Isabele. "He's cute," she said suggestively. Isabele rolled her eyes, but she felt her cheeks heating up. She averted her gaze from her best friend's to the other boy's. He had floppy blond hair, sky blue eyes, and fair skin.
Isabele glanced at her friend and saw Arya's eyes widen in approval.
"This young man right here, girls," John said, "is Liam."
