03|「Former (dead) memories」❐
The screeching sound of the car exploded next to Cole's ear. The car had swerved violently to avoid the man standing on the road however it had crashed into the electric pole right next to him. Oil leaked out of the car as sparks flew from the damaged pole.
A spark.
A flame.
A fireball.
The car exploded into a gigantic ball of molten metal. Shards of glass sliced Cole's body to shreds. Red filled his vision as the flames smothered his body, turning it into ash.
"Oh, I didn't think you would actually do that, I'm impressed" A mocking expression emerged on the hooded man's face.
Where was he? A void? Cole looked around but everything around him was pitch black. Despite this, the faint ticking of clock echoed in the background.
"..."
"You're lucky you 'died ' pretty quickly, if you hadn't that would have been a disaster for you and for me"
"What do you want?"
"Now, now don't worry we've got all the time in the world. I'm sure you're wondering what just happened right?"
"..."
"Aw, you're supposed to answer yes or something. Such a party pooper ಠ╭╮ಠ "
"Can you see me?"
"Are you even listening, geez. Well the answer to that question is both yes and no."
"..."
"...Are you not going to ask anything?"
"Why?"
"Why?! The answer can't possibly be yes and no!"
"...But you said it yourself..."
"I wanted you ask or like get confused or something. So boring...Oh well. I will be boring too! Hmph. Remember when you were ten-ish or something and the car crash incident. Yeah? Yeah? I gave you a small glass cube? You know the one around your neck right now. Yes that one. Well to save you I needed to give that you and along with that some accidental powers... such a big mistake....I cry every time .... (_) ..."
.
.
.
"You should have let me die"
"..."
"Well any ways, ignoring that, that glass cube connects to a glass chess piece that I have with me and every time you experience pain or die or something bad happens to you physically, the chess piece displays it to me. Oh I can also use it to communicate with you."
"..."
"Oh for your information it is currently a pile of ash right now. Hehe."
"What do you want with me?"
"Nothing, nothing at all, Nup. Nope. Nothing. Well now it's time to send you back. Have fun. heheheheheHEHEHEHEHEhehehe!"

Confusion lingered in the back of Cole's mind however he felt a deep anger pulsing inside of him. Why did this person save him? Save him. Save. That one word. One event had morphed into ten years of neglect, blame. Pain. He didn't need it. He was better off dead. He stared into grey, dark sky above him.
A brilliant blue cloudless sky shone above. A happy family, a mother, a father and their child, Cole. A single cross road lay in front of them. They walked together across the crossroad. In the distance a car screamed down the road, police sirens blazed behind.
One step, laughter.
Two steps. A smile on the boy's face, the last genuine one.
Three steps. The family stopped.
Four. Police sirens screamed in their ears.
Five. A car screeched in front of the family.
Six. Despair.
Seven. The boy's body crunched under an absurd amount of weight.
Eight. Blood stained the pavement.
Nine. Police rushed out of their cars.
Ten. A mother, a father and their child, Cole. Gone.
A hooded figure appeared before the young boy, a glass cube shone a brilliant red. It was pretty to the boy. His hands reached out to grab the cube. The hooded figure smiled.
The world distorted. Black. White.
A brilliant blue cloudless sky shone above. A happy couple. A mother, a father. Their child, Cole. A single cross road lay in front of them. The couple walked together across the crossroad. Cole stood and watched in confusion. In the distance a car screamed down the road, police sirens blazed behind.
One step, laughter.
Two steps. The boy cried out in despair.
Three steps. The family stopped.
Four. Police sirens screamed in their ears.
Five. A car screeched in front of the couple.
Six. Tears streamed down his face.
Seven. The couples' bodies disappeared beneath car tires.
Eight. Blood stained the pavement. Blood stained his eyes. The stained never washed off.
Nine. Police rushed out of their cars, too late.
Ten. A mother and a father. Gone.
The boy's heart, murdered.
