JOHN AND DIANA
New York City
That night in the Continental changed everything for Diana Anderson and John Wick. Not only had they shared several moments of intimacy, but they had let their heavily guarded walls down for each other. John found himself feeling comfortable in sharing his childhood and what lead him into the life of a hitman. Diana was a little surprised to find out that Johnathan Wick wasn't his birth name but Jardani Jovonovich, but at the same time, she wasn't surprised. A lot of people in their line of work change their names for the sake of their family or to hide their pasts. Diana didn't, however, because she couldn't care less what would happen to her father and brother if anyone were going to use them to get to her. After John Wick found himself being about to let go, so did Diana, and she began to tell the Baba Yaga a little about her upbringing and why she was now a hitwoman instead of something else entirely.
Being a hitwoman was the life Diana Anderson was always going to have, she never saw it any other way. Her father, Anthony 'Tony' Anderson had been an assassin himself before taking out a rival mobster and then later becoming the new head of that mob. His firstborn came soon after, Thomas 'Tommy' Anderson, and after somebody tried to take Tommy as a way to get to Tony, he raised his son into the life he once had, training him in every way possible so the child wouldn't get himself killed. Diana Anderson came along a couple of years after her older brother, and she was a disappointment the moment her father laid his eyes on her. He never wanted a daughter, women were seen as weaker than men. So Diana did everything in her power to prove her father wrong, and along the way, she met Floyd Harding who helped her prove her father wrong by training her to be the best of the best, his main assassin when he wanted to take anybody in his way out. That's why it came as a surprise to Diana when Floyd suddenly put a hit out on her as he snuck out of their bedroom while she was in the shower. Tony didn't take Diana in after that, but she didn't need him anyway, and she didn't need her perfect brother's help also.
And now Diana was with John, the two best assassin's in their line of work working together, and Diana couldn't be prouder of herself.
The two became inseparable after their night together, unstoppable to whoever came after them. If anybody was smart, they'd steer clear of the couple. But some were not smart, and that was their loss. John even supported the way Diana worked when sometimes it would include more than just a batter of her eyelashes. Seduce and destroy, as Diana would put it. John supported it all, and Diana found herself falling for the Boogeyman's worse nightmare. Viggo Tarasov deliberately put the two on hits together, knowing that when they fought together to take out targets, they were unstoppable and nobody stood a chance.
Eventually, as months turned into years of working together, during a mission, John found himself yelling over the sound of gunfire. "Marry me."
Diana turned around the corner with her pistol raised above her and easily shot three men who were aiming their way through the head. She turned back around for cover and to reload her gun. "What?" she yelled back over to him.
"Will you marry me, Diana?" John yelled again.
Diana paused and looked at the wall John was standing behind, watching as he turned the corner and easily killed off whoever was trying to gun them down. She felt her heart soar and a smile pull onto her face, waiting as John hid behind the wall again to reload. "Yes, I'd love to."
John looked up and locked eyes with Diana, a smile pulling onto both of their faces before they turned back around the corner and continued to kill and make their way out of the building. They didn't have a grand wedding. Honestly, the two didn't have many friends or family who would go. So, on the front lawn of their home just outside of New York, they held a small ceremony with the bride and groom, a mutual work friend, Marcus and Diana's brother, Tommy. Tommy wasn't very pleased when he found out his soon-to-be brother-in-law was the Baba Yaga, but maybe if he got the man onto his side then there would be no reason for the Boogeyman's worse nightmare to come knocking on his door to take him out.
As a wedding gift, Viggo Tarasov gave the pair a week paid trip to Greece for their Honeymoon. Diana was surprised their boss even let them have a Honeymoon and leave his sight without being on the clock. So it came without surprise when they returned from their trip to find that Viggo had already had a couple of hits lined up for the pair all across the globe.
Marital bliss lasted a total of seven months before things flipped and turned onto their heads. One morning, Diana found herself hunched over the toilet bowl in their ensuite bathroom, nonstop chucking her guts up. She very rarely got sick, however, sometimes Diana found that when she constantly flew around the world, the swift changes of climates sometimes affected her body. So she didn't think any differently while John grabbed some medication for Diana and made her soup to soothe her stomach. But a voice in Diana's head told her that it was something more than just a stomach bug. And after a quick trip to their local convenience store where Diana returned with a couple of tests in hand that she immediately took, Diana paused as she stayed sitting on the toilet seat.
John poked his head around the corner of their ensuite and noticed how Diana was sitting on the toilet seat with her gaze seemingly fixated on a spot on the wall in front of her. "Are you alright?" John asked softly. Diana shook her head and then raised her hands and the tests to her face as sobs began to escape her body. John hurried over towards his wife and knelt down in front of her, pulling her into him. "Baby, c'mere. It's okay."
Diana didn't know how to tell him or how it was even possible that she was in this position right now. She was told years ago that she would never be able to conceive a child because of the amount of pain and injuries her body had been through, and she had been using birth control devices ever since her first period decades ago. This was a one-in-a-million chance at a family for Diana, but she didn't know how John would react and whether or not he wanted the same.
"What's wrong, baby? You can tell me anything, you know that," John softly spoke, running a hand through the back of Diana's long brown hair.
Diana pulled away and handed one of the tests to John who carefully took it and studied the stick in front of him. He frowned as he read over the word, then glanced at the two other tests in Diana's hands that read the same result. He looked up and locked eyes with Diana and instead of John's normal stoic gaze that never gave away how he was feeling towards his enemies, this one was different. John's dark eyes were soft and held loads of emotion, and Diana found herself feeling sick all over again. "Pregnant?" he questioned. All Diana found herself able to do was nod. "I-I thought you couldn't...?"
"So did I," Diana mumbled, looking down into her hands. "I mean, it's happened before, but only with one-night stands. I never really thought about having a child in the long run. And then as years passed, I never gave them a second thought. Finding out that my body had become too damaged to produce a child, I gave up on the thought. I was never given the chance to think about having children or think about having a family, think about my future in the long run. I was happy just knowing that I have you, but now...I don't know. Do I want a family? A child? Is it safe?"
John grabbed onto Diana's face softly with his hands and brought her face up to meet his so that they were eye level. "Diana Wick, if you're worried about what I'm thinking, then don't be. I'd happily be the father of our child if that's what you decide. I'd look after them with everything I have and I'd do anything for them, just like I would with you. But if you also don't want it, then I support that decision as well. Whatever you want," John admitted, a small smile on his face as he brushed away a fallen tear from Diana's eye. "So whatever you plan to do, just know that I'm on board with your decision. I love you, and I'll still love you after this."
Diana stared into John's soft brown eyes, a feeling of warmth spreading throughout her when she realised that she had found her person, her home, her forever. "John, I told you this the day we got married, but I want to go through life with you. And if this child in me is a sign that a normal life can be possible for us, then I want to do this."
John grinned and Diana let out a laugh as he pulled her face towards his and the two kissed, their smiles not leaving their faces even as they pulled apart.
"I guess it's time to retire," John told her.
Diana pursed her lips. "Viggo isn't going to like it."
"He has no choice but to."

Diana and John Wick stood opposite Viggo Tarasov a couple of days later, their plan already mapped out and ready to go. They knew Viggo wasn't going to take lightly to his two best assets wanting to get out and away from him just to live a retired life, but Diana and John were prepared to do anything for their unborn child. This infant was their solution to getting out of their work life for good. They could finally have a life if everything went according to plan within the next few minutes.
Viggo balanced a cigar between his lips, pulling it out so that he could blow the smoke into the air. He looked between the two assassins who had their hands placed behind their backs. "Why?" he eventually asked after a couple of moments of silence. "Why should I let you go?"
Diana was scared to tell him in case he eventually wanted to come after them, but she knew that if they just told him that they wanted out to live a simple life that he would refuse. "I'm pregnant," she announced, turning Viggo's gaze to her, "and we've decided to keep the child."
There was a beat of silence.
Viggo let out a single laugh, before more laughs began to follow and he found himself leaning back in his chair to laugh at the pair before him. "Congratulations! That's excellent!" he exclaimed, partially in Russian with a mad grin on his face. Diana pursed her lips as she felt John tense up from beside her. "No." He laughed. "You think I'm going to let you two go over a fuckin' child? No."
"Viggo..." Diana tried.
"You got knocked up? You deal with it," Viggo told Diana. "You're indebted to me, Diana. You're not leaving me. And Jonathan? Last I knew, you can't get pregnant."
"I'll do whatever you want, kill whoever you want," John stepped forward, this time begging Viggo who rose his eyebrows up at John. "Anything. Just promise you'll leave Diana out of it."
"John," Diana warned.
Viggo grinned as he looked between the pair. "Whatever I want?"
"Yes."
Viggo hummed as he leant back into his chair, thinking up the most impossible and ridiculous task that he knew John Wick would never return from. "Okay, I'll let you retire if you do one thing for me."
Diana hurried after John who was using his long legs to get ahead and make his way to the Continental where he was going to prepare himself for his mission. "John you can't, it's suicide," Diana begged tugging on his arm to pull him back. "I can't let you do this by yourself."
John paused as he looked between Diana's desperate eyes. "This child is ours. This is our chance to finally get out and start a life together. You still want that, don't you?"
"But I don't want you to get yourself killed just for me to live that life," Diana exclaimed, her voice turning up in volume as she felt her body tense up and her heart hammer against her ribs.
"Who says I'll get killed?" John asked.
"Your chances!"
John shook his head and pulled out of Diana's grasp. "I have to do this. I'll make it out alive. For you and for our child."
Diana's jaw clenched as she looked between his eyes, the two both equally as stubborn as the other and not wanting to let up. But Diana knew John better than anyone else and she knew that he'd just sneak out of their house if she turned her back to him just so he could do this mission. Diana let out a huff and shoved his arm before walking past him and making her way to their car so that they could go to the Continental and John could prepare for the impossible task of wiping out all gang members of rivalling mobs in a single day just to let him and Diana retire and live a life with their unborn child.
John spent the whole of the next day preparing for the impossible task. He made sure he had been fitted the perfect suit, he had all the right guns and knives, and Diana made sure that he also had pills and a small first aid kit in case of emergencies. Diana didn't let John leave the Continental lightly but as soon as he did, Diana had the doctor on call for their hotel room, knowing that if and when John returned he'd more than likely need medical attention.
Diana spent the whole day playing with her knife collection. She had set up a target board in the room and continuously threw knives at it that hit dead centre just to get her mind off of things. Their room in the Continental gave Diana the perfect view of the sunset. And as she watched the sun slowly begin to go down, her anxiety levels began to soar through the roof. John was given one day to take out all rival gang members, from sunrise to sunset. That was all he had. Diana felt sick just at the thought of receiving a call telling her that John had died doing the task. And as the sun went out of view and the dark night sky set in, the door to her room burst open and in stumbled John Wick, bloodied and bruised, holding onto some of the multiple wounds he had obtained. Diana reached over to the phone, immediately dialling the doctor before hurrying over to John who had fallen onto the floor.
"Hey, it's okay, you're alright," Diana murmured to him, trying to find the wounds on his chest so that she could press down on them and stop the blood from coming out. "Let's get you to the bed, alright? Lay down on it." Diana struggled to get John onto his feet and then rolled him onto the bed, where his breathing began to turn shallow and his face paled. "The doctor will be here soon, alright? Just hold on. You'll be okay."
"I did it," John muttered.
"Stop talking, just focus on breathing," Diana ordered him, unbuttoning his shirt so that the doctor could get straight to work once he arrived.
"We're free," John mumbled. "Baby, we're free..."
John passed out as soon as the doctor walked into the room and he hurried over to pull up a chair to the bed. "Where are all of his wounds?"
"Several on his upper body, I noticed one or two on his thighs. Think that's it," Diana quickly told him.
The doctor handed Diana a needle and thread and some rubbing alcohol, anything to help sew back together his wounds. "You start on the right of his body, I'll start on the left," the Doctor instructed.
Diana knew how to stitch together wounds, she had done it for her brother and father since she was a child. It was just another thing Diana was very good at. But stitching together her passed-out husband made Diana's stomach turn, and as the Doctor looked up at Diana, he quickly stopped what he was doing and reached over towards an empty bucket he brought in and handed it to her. Diana quickly threw up what little she had eaten throughout the day and then placed it to the side and continued stitching John's wounds back together. As they stitched away, Diana would also grab a wet cloth to clean the blood covering his body. They both knew it wasn't going to be easy taking on so many mobsters and that John was more than likely going to return (if he did) with a couple of wounds, but seeing him was entirely different from imagining it.
John remained passed out for the duration of the time, two hours passing as the Doctor made sure every bullet and stab wound had been properly stitched back together. He wasn't surprised at the good work Diana had done, he had seen her at work before. Sometimes having to stop during her hits just to stitch herself back together again. Just as he finished, he handed Diana a variety of pills and she walked him to the door.
"He has to take two of each every four hours. Minimal movement over the next few days if he wants his stitches to stay intact. And if his state worsens, just call me up," the Doctor told Diana. "And congratulations on your pregnancy and retirement."
Diana frowned. "People already know?"
"About your retirement? Yes. Your pregnancy?" he shook his head. "I'm a doctor, Diana. I've seen pregnant women before."
Diana smiled lightly at the old man before her. "Thank you for everything, Doc."
He bowed his head. "It's been a pleasure, Mrs Wick."
Diana closed the door and headed back to the bed where she found John still laying down but now with his eyes partially open. "Hey, baby. How're you feeling?" Diana softly asked, kneeling down beside him on the floor.
"How does it look?" He asked.
"I'm surprised you're alive, but you will live," Diana joked lightly, then smiled softly as she brushed back a little bit of his messy and bloody dark hair. "Try not to move, okay? Doc says you'll need to rest for a few days if you want to heal, and I'd rather you heal up instead of bleeding out on me."
"I did it, Di," John told her quietly, before letting out a short laugh. "We're retired, baby. We're out."
Diana smiled as she leaned over and kissed John's forehead. "I know. We'll talk about this tomorrow, alright? Just sleep now. You've earned it."
"I love you," John mumbled as he closed his eyes. "And I love our little one."
Diana smiled lightly as she brushed back his hair and placed her head on the edge of the bed beside John's side. "I love you, too, John."
