         JUNELISE LET OUT A SIGH AS SHE shut off her phone and dropped the device beside her. Her fingers reached up to grip at her roots of her hair—out of everyone in the world, why Rafe? He was literally her dream man down to a T, he matched her energy so well and was everything she ever dreamed of. But of course, the universe said fuck you and ruined her hopes as he turned out to be the older brother of one of her best friends. Along with that, he lived in the Outer Banks which was pretty far from New York City. They quite possibly never stood a chance from the beginning.

         Junelise doesn't know how Sarah honestly feels about the whole thing, sure she gave the girl warnings and all that, but Sarah never really expressed any of her own emotions. Junelise mentally shrugged and pushed the thought away, deciding that it would be later situation to worry about. She huffed out a tired sigh and grabbed a pillow, smacking it over her head before she screamed into it.

         "Yo." A knock on her door made her stop and she froze, slowly removing the pillow from her face. Her lips curled into a small frown at the sight of her older brother, Alexander, leaning against her doorway.

         "What do you want?" she asked as she rolled onto her stomach. Alexander rolled his eyes and pushed himself off of the door.

         "Dad just told me that we're not going to the OBX for the summer." he revealed causing Junelise to jump up from the bed in disbelief. Her eyes went wide as saucers and her lips parted in shock.

         "What?! Are you serious?!"

         "Yeah, but don't ask me why 'cause I don't know." Alexander shrugged, "Anyways, that's all. I'll be going now, I got some errands to run for Mom." Before he could leave though, Junelise called out his name causing him to stop in his tracks.

        "Wait, Alex!" Junelise started before she bit down on her bottom lip in thought, "Um, quick question. Do you know someone named Rafe Cameron?"

          "Sarah's older brother?" Alexander tilted his head in confusion.

         "How'd you know that.."

         "Oh, so I was right." Alexander hummed before he shrugged nonchalantly, "Met him when we visited OBX two years ago. We're good friends, he's a chill dude, a little crazy, but he's nice and fun to hang around with."

         "Huh." Junelise clicked her tongue, "Interesting."

         "Why?" Alexander raised an eyebrow inquisitively.

         "Nothing. Just curious, that's all." Junelise shrugged, "Okay bye, go before Mom kills you." Alexander gave her a sarcastic wave and rolled his eyes before turning around and leaving her room. "Close my door too please!" He didn't bother to answer, only closing her door like she asked.

         Junelise grabbed her phone so that she could text her friends about the news of her not visiting the Outer Banks for the summer. A deep frown etched itself on her face as she did so.
