Mercy On Me

Jasmine POV:

I couldn't take it anymore. I needed him to be with me, no matter what had happened. It was probably just a misunderstanding, and I surely should have asked him what was going on before making assumptions.

I freshened up a little before bidding my mother goodbye and walking down the streets toward his house. The streets were deserted, a light breeze chilling the spring air. The eerie silence was unsettling, and I didn't realize how frightened I was until a rustling bush broke the silence.

"Who's there?" I called bravely, terrified out of my wits. A brown rabbit hopped out of the bushes, making me sink to the ground in relief as I scolded myself for being scared. I crawled back to my feet and started again in the direction of Elias' house.

No matter how much I tried, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being followed. My movements were stiff, jerking every time I took a step forward. My head swung from side to side, looking behind me every couple seconds to see if anyone was following me.

This is crazy! Of course, no one is following me. I knew that even thinking about that was bizarre, but I had never felt this way before, and I knew it wasn't just for no reason.

Right on cue, just as I was walking past an alleyway, two men jumped me, dragging me into the shadows. Pressing against the back wall, I stared at them, studying them. Both were around two years older than me, armed with guns and steadily approaching me. I knew that they were not people to mess with.

"Well, well, well, look at what we found." One said with an evil glint in his eyes. "Little lady, we're going to have so much fun with you."

I stared at him in shock, scared at what he might do to me. I was too scared to speak. My mouth dropped in an attempt to say something, anything. Elias! Help me! I knew he couldn't hear me, but I couldn't shout. I couldn't scream.

"What shall we do to you?" The other boy spoke up, a sneer forming on his lips. He brought his hand to my face and twirled my hair. I slapped his hand away in a surge of confidence, regretting it as I saw his eyes glisten with hatred. "You shouldn't have done that." The first boy reached for his gun, and instantly I screamed.

"Please! Have mercy on me!"

(A/N) Okay, this is the first time I've ever put an Author's Note at the end of a chapter, but...
Wow. That was a little unexpected. Sorry about the plot twist there. Well, hopefully you liked it and like the next chapter. Haha... I feel evil by doing this... Enjoy!!!
