Bound To Be Burned

Elias POV:

"Hello, Mrs. Disabatino," I called when I entered Jasmine's house, earning a greeting and a confused look from Jasmine's mother. Brushing her off, I spoke up, gesturing to the pale Jasmine in my arms. "I'm just taking her to her room."

Without waiting for a reply, I climbed up the steps leading to her bedroom. Letting her go, she sat down quietly on the cold floor. I sat down in front of her as I watched fresh tears trickle out of her eyes and down her cheeks. She sobbed silently, not looking anywhere but the ground.

Jasmine POV:

I didn't even know why I was crying.

It wasn't because I was sad, no. I had already accepted that Elias didn't like me, but still, it hurt to see him with another girl. But I wasn't crying because of that. And I wasn't angry. I could never be angry with Elias, even if he broke my heart. I love him too much. And though I was angry at myself for being so foolish, that wasn't the reason for my breakdown. No. I was just confused.

I was confused and I needed to be left alone to make sense of everything, and though Lily would probably be more than willing to help me, she just wouldn't understand what I was going through. In fact, I didn't even want Elias here. My mind was in turmoil, and I hardly processed what I said next.

"Leave." My voice was just barely a whisper, soft as the breeze that blew through my open window. I didn't dare look at Elias, but I could tell he was shocked. I didn't care though, I just wanted him gone.

"E-excuse me?" Yup, he was most definitely shocked.

"Leave," I spoke clearer this time, louder than before and sure of what I wanted.

"But-"

"Leave me alone!" I cut him off. I was growing impatient, and I had raised my voice at him. Not accidently, though.

"Jasm-"

"Just leave me alone!" I practically screamed, having no care whether my mother heard or not. I looked up at him, glaring daggers through his flawless skin. He was taken aback, and unable to look at his heartbroken face any longer, I returned my gaze back to the floor. There was silence for a while, dragging out for a minute or so until I heard the faintest of whispering.

"...Ok." With that, I heard the door creak open, then the loud echo of it as it closed once again.

Hearing his footsteps on the stairway, fading as he exited the house, I completely broke down, something I wasn't willing to do while he was here. I brought this upon myself. I was the one that asked him to leave, and I felt so guilty about it.

My heart ached and I knew it was because of the lack of companionship. I already missed him, and I wish he would hold me again. I just couldn't stop loving him. I knew he left because he wanted the best for me. He cared enough about me to leave me in peace, but it was still heartbreaking.

You ask someone to leave, but really, all you want is for them to stay with you forever.
