Chapter 65

It's an overcast morning with a slight mist and fog as Chance walks along the shoreline. A familiar voice comes up behind him.

"That didn't go as well as you hoped, huh"

" Nope, not that I really expected it to go smoothly" he responded.

"You weren't the only one hiding the truth all this time".

"No kidding. I don't know when we all decided we couldn't trust each other with our personal lives" he said.

"Sometimes we get the notion we actually know what's best for everyone else by hiding behind our fear of letting those we love see our vulnerable side. Thinking shutting them out will save them the pain we, ourselves, are going through".

"I just didn't want to be a burden to either of them anymore, ya know. I guess I should have told them sooner. I've caused a lot of pain in hiding this" Chance replied.

"You're right, you should have told them sooner."

"Gee, thanks for the positive reinforcement" he said sarcastically.

"Hey, just stating fact. But also, they should have shared everything with you a lot sooner too. "

Chance nodded in agreement.

"So, what about Mina? Are you going to tell her?"

"I doubt she wants anything to do with me. I haven't heard from her in almost a year. Hell, I have no idea where she even is" Chance stated sadly.

"Do you still love her?"

"With every fiber of my being" he replied.

"You know what you need to do. If you love her, go find her Chance, don't give up. I have a feeling she needs you as much as you need her. "

"You really think it's not too late" Chance asked.

"I've regretted a lot of things in my life that I didn't share before it was too late, including not telling someone how much I loved them and cared. Don't you make the same mistakes I did."

"I promise, I won't" Chance replied as the mist and fog intensified where he couldn't even see his hand in front of his face.

Tim noticed a tear running down from the corner of Chances eye. "Chance, buddy, wake up. Please wake up" he softly spoke.

Chance heard the familiar deep, muffled voice. He turned his head towards the voice, gradually opening his eyes. With blurred vision, he saw Tim sitting next to him leaning forward, his arms on his knees as he spoke.

Chance sat up quickly, looking around at his surroundings, totally confused. He then grabbed his head "ugh, what the hell happened?"

"You don't remember anything?," Tim asked.

"Would I have asked if I did" Chance replied sarcastically.

"Well, you're almost back to normal " Tim laughed slightly. "Stay right there while I get Dr. Daniels".

Chance gave him a questionable look as he walked to the front door to summon Marcus who had stepped out for a bit of fresh air. When he returned he explained what had happened as Marcus assessed his vitals and responses.

"Ill go get your mother, she's resting in her room" Marcus said as he headed down the hallway.

"How long was I out for" he asked Tim.

"About 6 hrs. You really scared us all" Tim replied.

Chance furrowed his brow.

"You ok, what's wrong" Tim asked.

"So I was out for 6 hours, here, on the sofa the whole time" Chance stated.

"Yes, you had explained what you've been dealing with the past several months, then shortly thereafter collapsed. I caught you before you hit the floor and carried you to the sofa" Tim explained again.

Shaking his head in disbelief he says to Tim "so...at no time..was I back at my place..walking on the beach?"

Tim raises a brow and says " uh, no buddy..you haven't left this room and it's now about 2 am" just as Maggie and Marcus return.

Maggie immediately sits down next to Chance, pulling him to her. "Baby, are you ok? Does your head hurt? " she asks.

"I'm ok Momma, I'm sorry I caused you so much worry" he tells her as he hugs her back. "I do have a migraine but don't have my medication with me, it's back at my place."

"No worries" Marcus says as he pulls out a syringe to administer pain medication to him. "This is going to make you go back to sleep, though" he advises him.

Chance attempted to refuse but they convinced him to take it. He was more worried about missing his flight and getting back to Minnesota on time. Tim assured him he would handle everything and to go get some more rest. Maggie helped him to his old bedroom where it would be quiet and more comfortable for him.

Tim and Marcus discussed what had happened. He advised Tim it would be best for Chance to stay and rest, at the least, one full day before heading back for the tour.

"He evidently still has some swelling in the brain, along with the stress of everything he's learned and revealed these past few days, causing this episode. I'd like to run a couple tests before he leaves, make any medication adjustments as well" Marcus advised him.

Tim agreed, he doesn't want to jeopardize his health anymore than it already is. "I will contact our manager and bring him up to date. If we have to reschedule or cancel a photo shoot or interview, then so be it. His health is much more important" Tim stated.

"You really do care a great deal about him don't you" Marcus said.

"Yes sir, I do. He's like the brother I never had" Tim answered back.
