Dinner is over, the kitchen is clean as they all make their way out to the back yard fire pit with a bottle of wine. Chance decides not to take his meds tonight in order to enjoy a few glasses of wine. Knowing he shouldn't alter his schedule set forth by both his Drs., he feels one night shouldn't be a problem. Besides, he's not ready to discuss the past few months with them just yet.

His mom is bringing him up to date on all the local happenings while Heather adds here and there about his friends, where they are, who they are seeing etc.

Then his mom asks "are you seeing anyone yet?"

He knew this question was going to come up at some point or another, maybe that's why I decided to drink tonight" he thinks to himself. " No Mom, I haven't. There really isn't any time to spend with anyone while on the road as much as we are." (between my physical problems and being on the road, how fair would that be to expect someone to take that on as their way of life), he thinks as he pours himself another glass of wine.

"Well I hope someday soon you will find the right one Chance. You deserve to be happy" she tells him.

"I am momma. I'm doing what I love. I never thought I would be where I am in my career. The places I've seen and the awesome people I work with.  I've been truly blessed Momma".

"I just want to be blessed with a few grandbabies before I get to old to enjoy them, " she laughs "you're sister hasn't gotten me any yet either" she says as she looks at Heather.

Chance snickers at Heather who sticks her tongue out at him and says" Ok Momma, I think that's enough wine for you tonight".

Momma downs the rest of her glass of wine as Heather coaxes her inside. Chance laughs a little shaking his head as both of them walk into the house.

Heather comes back out a few minutes later, tells Chance that she's put Mom to bed and is heading home because she has to work in the morning.

"You ok to drive," he asks. "Yes. You and Momma are the heavy drinkers tonight. I had maybe a half glass of wine, you two finished off the bottle" she chuckles.

He looks at the empty bottle, "Oops, sorry about that" he smiles. "Somehow I think you needed it," she adds.

He stands to give her a hug, she holds him tight and says "I'm so glad you're home". "Me too squirt, me too".
