"Kiera, come on, stop staring," said mom, tugging at my arm. I was fixated on the sight in front of me. I felt a sick sensation in my stomach like something bad was going to happen very soon.
"Mommy, that boy is crying," I pointed out. "I want to talk to him."
"Kiera, you're seven. That boy looks like he's seventeen. He's not going to want to talk to you."
"But I have a chocolate! Maybe he'll like it? I just want to help," I pleaded. Mom sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Fine. Five minutes. We have a doctor's appointment later, so make it quick, honey."
I smiled and ran towards the boy. He was sitting near the bridge, his face in his hands. He was tall, much taller than me. He had a dark complexion and curly black hair. He lifted his head as I approached, and I couldn't help but notice that he looked like a prince. Deep, brown eyes and tear-stained cheeks that were shallow, exposing straight cheekbones and a strong jaw.
"Hi, I'm Kiera," I said, smiling. He was confused. "I have a chocolate for you. Whenever I feel sad, I eat chocolate. It makes me happy. Maybe it'll make you happy, too."
He stared at me slowly, as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing. I kept my arm outstretched, the Twix bar in my hand. He wasn't moving, so I bent down and opened his palms. They were wet with tears. I placed the chocolate in his hand.
"There," I said, giving him a hug. "All better now."
The boy nodded a little, before pulling me closer into a surprising hug. I snuggled close to him. He smelt like smoke, a little. But I kept hugging him.
"Th- thank you," he mumbled. "I'm Harry."
"Nice to meet you, Harry," I said, softly. "I hope you feel better soon."
I gave him a kiss on his head and ran towards Mommy. She had an odd expression on her face. She looked sad, but there was a small smile on her face. "That was very nice of you, Kiera."
"He was sad, mommy. I know that you would have given me chocolate if I was sad."
I turned around to say bye to Harry. I wanted to see him again and tell him that I would remember him, forever. But he was gone.
"Where did he go?" asked Mommy, walking forward. I shrugged.
We looked around, but we couldn't see him anywhere. "Harry?" I called. I saw the wrapper of the Twix bar I had given him on the ground. "Where is he?"
I heard my mom gasp and look up, her eyes wide with horror. A hand was on her mouth as she stared at a position on the bridge.
I looked up to where she was staring and saw Harry, arms outstretched on the bridge. "Someone, stop him!" screamed Mommy.
He looked at me, and then he waved slowly. I waved back, not knowing what was happening. Why was he standing so close to the edge? What if he fell? The water underneath was very cold. And very deep.
Then, he jumped.

so some of my other books don't focus on mental health much, so here's a character who's out to save the world.
here's wattpad's very own female superhero, who saves the guy.
i hope you love it as much as i've loved writing it.
keep smiling,
