Part 13

After Jungkook had finished eating he was ushered back to his room. The nurse sat him down on his bed.
"Sorry for being so stern but we have to be careful when patients talk to each other. I'm sure you can understand." She said, and Jungkook nodded. "Are you feeling any better or?" Jungkook sighed.
"No. I still feel just...numb." He said, still with a monotone voice. It's like all his soul had gone and left an empty shell behind. "I can't be fixed, can I?"
"What do you mean?" The nurse said, taken aback.
"I'm just so broken. I'll never be fixed." He says, staring at the floor.
"That's nonsense Jungkook. You're just having a particularly bad day that's all. The doctors here are amazing and they'll help you get back to where you need to be. Don't worry about that Jungkook. Personally I believe that no one is ever so broken they can't be fixed." She says, hands on his shoulders. He just shrugged. He felt so empty he didn't see the point in responding.
"...well your scheduled to see the doctor in her office in five minutes, so we should get going, ok?" She says, expecting him to stand up and follow her, but of course, he doesn't.
"I don't wanna go." He says.
"....I-I'm Sorry Jungkook you have to. If you don't it'll only mean you have to stay here longer. The sooner you do this the sooner you can get out, so cooperate with me please." Jungkook let's put a long huff, flopping backwards into the bed.
"I just wanna sleep. If I sleep this day will be over."
"Jungkook, please. I promise the assessments aren't hard. All you have to do is sit and write some stuff down on some paper and answer a few questions. Do you think you could do that?" She asks, in a slightly patronising way.
Jungkook just huffs again before sitting up.
"Fine. Whatever." That was clearly his inner teenager coming out.
"Just follow me." She says, walking out the door.

She leads them through several corridors, until they get to her office. They knock on the door and the doctor opens the door.
"Hello Jungkook! Do come in and take a seat." She says, cheerfully. The nurse pulls her aside.
"He hasn't been doing good today. He had a little moment this morning and ever since then he said he feels numb and empty and he hasn't really been cooperating. Just thought I should let you know." The nurse says, the doctor nods understandingly.
"Yes thank you. I've got it from here." She says, dismissing the nurse off and going back into the office.
"Well, Jungkook. Don't worry, I've heard all about how you're feeling today. It's nothing to worry about." She says, sitting down next to Jungkook on the table.
"Can we just get this over with?" Jungkook says, the teenager is still out.
"If you cooperate then yes we can. If you don't it's gonna take a whole lot longer. So maybe clean up that attitude and this will go a lot smoother." She says, subtly scolding him. Jungkook rolls his eyes and nods.
"Ok. So we're just going to do a few different assessments that will help us diagnose. It just involves filling out these simple questionnaires. If you don't understand a question you can ask me, otherwise, just get on with it yourself. I just need to do a few things on my computer over there. Ok?" She says, handing him several sheets of paper. He nods, and she shoots him a smile, before going over to her computer. He looks down at the first sheet. At the top it says.
"Patient: Jeon Jungkook
Patient number: 8482727
Age: 15
Depression"
Great. A whole load a questions about depression. Funfunfun. He thinks. He goes through answering the questions. They're all exactly the type of thing you would expect. "Do you feel down a lot?", "do you feel unexplained feelings of deep sadness or loneliness?", "have you had thoughts of self harm of suicide?" What lovely questions. He got through that sheet and went on to the next one. "Generalised Anxiety Disorder". Again, all the questions you would expect. He went through it fairly quickly. But when he turned to the next sheet his stomach turned.

"Schizophrenia"

Do I really have schizophrenia? How could they think that? What if I do? My whole life will go to shit. I could be kicked out of bts. Kicked out of school. I suppose that one's not so bad.
He reads through the questions, and is ticking the "agree" and "strongly agree" boxes alarmingly a lot. He sighs, going on to the next sheet, trying not to worry about it too much.
"Anorexia/Bulimia"
He sighed again, going through the questions again, ticking "strongly agree" for most of them. He mindlessly turned to the next sheet.
"Obsessive Compulsive Disorder"
He gave a confused look at that one, but shrugged it off and answered all the questions. Before placing it aside with the rest.
"I'm done." He says, and the doctor looks up from her computer.
"Fantastic. Thank you." She says, taking the sheets, and putting them in a file on her desk.
"So. Nows the tricky bit. I want to find the cause of all this, so we may be delving into some difficult places, but if you want to stop, just say and we will. I'm not pushing you ok?" Jungkook nods. His sassy attitude of before had now been replaced with a more fearful mood. He felt vulnerable.
"Ok, so. Do you have any idea what started all this?" She asks simply. Jungkook is hesitant to answer, but the doctor waits patiently, letting him take his time.
"I think it's a lot of things. Being a trainee and living away from my parents was hard, but the main thing is... I was being bullied at school. A lot. No one liked me. They still don't." He says quietly, fiddling with his fingers.
"Ok..." the doctor says, writing stuff down on a clipboard.
"And has this ever been sorted out? Did you speak to anyone about it?" She asked.
"Yeah, I told my hyungs, and then I did tell my teacher, but I haven't really been in a while so I don't know if they've tried to sort it out or not." He was starting to shake now. All these memories of school came flooding back all at once. Then he remembered something. Something important.
"I need to get outta here." He said shakily, standing up and heading for the door.
"Woahwoah, Jungkook, no. You need to stay." The doctor said managing to get up and catch him, but she only had him by one arm. Jungkook was strong enough to get out of her grip easily. He bursted out of the door, running through the corridor. The doctor quickly called for security before running after him. Luckily he was in just the right place, and the security caught him right away.
"Please let me go!" He shouted kicking around to try and free himself from the firm grip of the guards. They weren't hurting him just firm.
"Jungkook you need to stay it's important, now stop kicking about or you'll hurt yourself." That only made Jungkook kick even more. She tried talking to him but nothing was working, and the guards were starting to lose their grip from all of his struggling.
"Nurse, we need some sedation, stat." The doctor said to a nurse who was passing, and they just nodded and hurried off. Jungkook heard the word "sedation" and freaked out even more.
"You can't do this to me! Please just let me go!" He screamed. All the other residents who had heard the commotion were watching with fear. It's not often this kind of thing happens.

The nurse gets back with a syringe filled with a sedative and hands it to the doctor. The guards reposition their grip, to keep him more still, specifically his arm. The doctor also holds his arm down as she skillfully finds a vein and injects it. Just moments later, Jungkooks kicks were getting weaker and weaker until he was completely knocked out.
"Thanks for your help guys. I'll take him to his room." She says, picking him up bridal style and walking off down the corridors to his room. When the nurse looks up from the book she was reading to see Jungkook knocked out in the doctors arms, a pang of worry strikes in her chest.
"What happened?" She asked standing up and following the doctor to his bed.
"I'm not really sure to be honest. We were just talking when he suddenly said "I need to get outta here" and ran down the corridors. The guards caught him but he kept kicking around and I tried to talk to him but he clearly wasn't listening. We'll just have to wait until he's awake to ask. Keep a close eye on him. We don't want him escaping." She says, about to leave.
"Should we use restraints? Just to be sure?" The nurse asks.
"That seems a bit too much for now. It'll probably freak him out even more. Just keep this door locked and don't leave the room at all. Call me as soon as he wakes up. If he's being difficult then call the guards."
"Ok. He's a tough cookie this one." She replies. The doctor hums and nods.
"Definitely not the easiest patient I've had but at least that makes my job less boring." She replies before leaving the room, locking the door behind her.
The nurse sighs and sits on the edge of the bed.
"Ahh what are we gonna do with you 'eh?"
