KIISHA

It was a Sunday evening, we decided to go plait our hair and at such we sauntered to our unisex salon  which was located at the outskirts of the male hostel. On getting there, the hair stylist welcomed us with a smile.

"When I see you girls, you always bring a smile to my face and I do pray to have beautiful triplets like you," the hair stylist said as we smiled. She was one of those people who found it hard to believe we weren't related at all.

She waved at the other stylist who walked up to her, the other stylist was the complete opposite of her, fair, willowy and beautiful.

"So which style?" she questioned as we took our seat.

"Cornrows," Kiiti replied.

"With your hair or with attachment?"

"With attachment," Kiishi responded. The other stylist brought out the X- pression as they both walked out of the salon to sort it out.

"Is this not a picture of you that Olumide posted?" I questioned in astonishment while pointing my phone at Kiishi who smiled.

"Oya, tell me, what's going on? You know I saw you guys that day during your practical," Kiiti said as she dropped her phone by her side and turned to Kiishi with listening ears.

"What were they doing?" I questioned inquisitively while giving Kiishi a suspicious look.

"They were talking but it was intimate oo, you should see the way Kiishi was blushing that day," Kiiti explained with a dancing smile.

"Hmmmm," I commented with a smile.

"What is hmmm?" Kiishi asked with a wide smile, currently her face was radiating.

"Now, tell us what's going on between you guys," Kiiti cajoled and Kiishi smiled.

"There's nothing going on"

Kiiti wrinkled her nose while I pursed my lips with a suspicious look.

"Lie that you guys don't like each other," Kiiti jested while eyeing her.

Kiishi's eyes glinted at this as her smile increased.

"I knew it," Kiiti gushed while I shook my head.

"So?" I inquired.

"Well, he asked me out but I told him to give me some time"

"Time to do what oo?" Kiiti asked while eyeing her playfully with a mischievous grin.

"Don't worry, what of you oo?" Kiishi questioned as she dropped her phone on her laps and turned to her.

"That's even true," I added and Kiiti gave me a curt look.

"Wetin happen to me?" Kiiti questioned while shaming obliviousness.

"Stop pretending, the eyes you guys use to give each other in class is more than friendship," I said with a mischievous look.

Kiiti smiled before responding, "Okay, we're just chilling, nothing more."

"Hmmmm, chilling indeed?" Kiishi and I uttered in unison and Kiiti rolled her eyes.

"You nko oo?" Kiiti turned to me in an attempt to shift the attention away from her and she did succeed.

"What about me?" I asked feigning an unknowing look.

"We all know you and Jared like each other so stop pretending here, you..," the entrance of the hair stylist stopped her as she called her and Kiishi.

While they started their hair, I decided to scroll through my gallery and immediately the first picture that appeared happened to be that of Jared and I at Spain during the holiday, I smiled while looking at the other pictures.

"This one that you're smiling," Kiiti shouted from where her hair was being plaited and I eyed her before scrolling down the pictures gallery. They were beautiful ones and they made me long for him.

"So I'll be calling out the nominees for the prefects, you all will be having an oral test next Wednesday," our coordinator announced before he proceeded to call out the names.

In RGC, the most brilliant students were nominated for the post of prefects. I was nominated for the post of the Senior Prefect (Girl) alongside Idiat and two other girls from SPECIAL and PECULIAR. Though the prefects were always apparent but the teachers do decide to conduct an oral test so it won't look like favouritism.

After we left the assembly, Kiiti and I walked to our class and Joshua sighted her instantly, so they walked out of the class while I went to my seat. Moving to my seat, I was greeted with people that made me tense.

"Hi," Uche's husky voice greeted with a small smile. Beside him was Kenneth, seems they were back from their one week suspension.

"Hi," I replied quietly before moving closer to my chair, they moved away and allowed me to pass.

"Uhm Kiisha, we came to apologize," Kenneth started while rubbing his palms together.

"We're so sorry, we were just angry at the way you treated us, we allowed the anger to cloud our thoughts and we sincerely do hope you'll forgive us," Uche added.

I smiled reassuringly before talking, "I'm sorry too, it's actually my fault, I shouldn't have treated you guys that way"

Kenneth and Uche shared an amazed look before turning to me with a smile, just then Jared approached us and he glared daggers at them.

"Hope they're not trying anything stupid?" he questioned and I shook my head.

"No, they were apologizing and I apologized too," I explained.

Jared lifted his eyebrows before lowering his head to look me in the eye.

"That's nice, so we're on good terms now," he said while turning to the guys and they all shook hands.

"Take care of our Kiisha oo," Kenneth said with a smile.

"I will," Jared assured.

"Why would you? Do I look like a baby?"

"You're my baby," Jared replied with a smile.

Kenneth and Uche chuckled before leaving our presence.

"Which baby?"

"You look nice in this cornrows, I never knew it fitted you like this," he complimented while stroking my hair, my heart fluttered at this and I blushed.

He chortled before our English teacher walked in, he flashed wink at me before getting to his seat and I smiled before we all proceeded to greet our teacher. 

  Kiiti got dressed in a pink tank top and black jeggings, she took a look at herself in the mirror before turning to us.

"Won't you guys go with me?" she questioned sweetly.

"Why do you want us to come with you?" Kiishi queried and Kiiti pursed her lips.

"Aren't you bored in the room? Whereas it's fun watching me dance," she said convincingly and I bobbed my head.

"Okay then," Kiishi closed the book she was reading and got down from her bed before sliding her legs into a pair of closed toe slippers as she picked up the novel.

Seeing Kiishi was ready to go with her, I scrambled to my feet and straightened my hostel wear. I was also going to study at the library. Kiiti smiled at us before heading towards the door, we all walked out of our room and headed to the dance hall.

Kiiti finally joined the dance team and they were preparing for the Literary and debating day in MERRY HIGH SCHOOL which was coming up next Tuesday. Our school had been invited for Miming, Spoken Words, Drama, Essay competition which Kiishi would represent, while Jared, Joshua and I would represent the school at Spelling Bee and Quiz competition.

Kiiti and the dance team were also representing our school, it was somehow a big event considering the fact that different literary activities would be performed even Dumininu was going to present her Artworks.

We got to the dance hall few minutes later and Kiiti quickly approached Zion who was their coordinator. They discussed a few things before Kiiti came back to us. Kiishi and I sat on the stairs and their choreographer walked in, she was a very slender woman but she had a nice stature and an attractive face but she wasn't really beautiful to me sha oo.

She clapped in an attempt to gain their attention and Kiiti left us as they all gathered in front of their choreographer and conversed, then dispersed and arranged themselves and within seconds, a nice song appeared from the background, I've never heard of the song but it was indeed cool. They engaged their dance steps and I must say, it's really nice.

"This is beautiful," I commented with a smile before turning to Kiishi whose head was now buried in the novel, I snatched the book from her and she looked up at me in annoyance.

"Give it back," she said gently and I guffawed.

"I thought you were going to the library, aren't you late for your study?" Kiishi questioned with a mischievous look.

I looked up at the wall clock and realised it was 5:10 pm which means I was ten minutes late, I rose from my seat and threw the novel at Kiishi who laughed, I took another look at Kiiti and her team who were now dancing to an hip-hop song before walking out.

On getting to the library, I met Jared who was flipping through the pages of a textbook. He was looking lovely and I smiled at this before approaching him.

"Hi jaguar," I greeted before seating beside him, he raised his head from the textbook and turned to me with a charming smile as his dimples appeared, that act made my heart somersault and I quickly diverted my gaze to the textbook.

"This one that you're here early, what happened oo?" I questioned. Jared was always the last person to arrive so seeing him early today was surprising.

"I just got bored," he responded still with that his smile.

"What of Joshua?"

"He went to the toilet"

"Okay," I nodded as I played with the edges of the textbook, we stayed in silence for a few uncomfortable seconds before Jared broke the ice.

"Uhm Anuoluwakiisha," I turned to him at the mention of my name, for him to call my full name, it was something serious.

"Yes?" I queried and he scratched his neck. Wait, is Jared nervous? So the fabulous Jared can be nervous? I tried biting back a laugh at this but ended up laughing uncontrollably.

The voice of Joshua made me stop laughing.

"Hope there's nothing wrong?" Joshua questioned as he sat in front of Jared, who was beside me, putting Joshua was adjacent to me.

"It's nothing," I assured while shaking my head.

"Okay, we're studying Physics today right?" Joshua queried as he picked up the textbook in front of Jared.

"Yeah," I replied.

"What are we even studying in it? We've finished the whole syllabus and even all the past questions, so I see no reason," Jared finally said as he turned to Joshua.

"Let's still go through it, you know Physics is a volatile subject so we might have forgotten a lot of things," I said and Joshua nodded.

"I agree," Joshua conceded and Jared didn't utter a word but rather picked up the textbook.

I stood up to get the past questions while Joshua brought out his jotter, soon we got prepared for the study.

An hour and thirty minutes later, we were done so we all walked out of the library somehow exhausted, Joshua and Jared waved at me as I went to the dance hall.

"What are they still doing?" I asked Kiishi who looked a little bit startled as she turned to me.

"You're back?"

"Noo, I'm still coming," we both laughed at this.

"Well, they're being addressed," Kiishi said and my stomach grumbled.

I rubbed my tummy before looking at Kiishi who smiled.

"They should be fast oo, it's almost time for dinner and I'm famished," I said and Kiiti walked up to us as of she heard me talk.

"Let's go," I jumped to my feet and we all walked out of the hall, we went to our hostel and minutes later the bell was rung for dinner.

I scampered to my feet at this before Kiishi and Kiiti followed me as we walked to the dining hall. Dinner was Porridge and fish.

"Hey," Joshua greeted as he dropped his tray that was on the table before  sitting by Kiiti who in turn smiled at him.

Kiishi and I shared a knowing look before smiling, this was one thing we do whenever Kiiti and Joshua were together and I was certain Kiiti and Kiishi did it too whenever Jared and I were together Kiiti do smile at herself and wink at Kiishi if she saw her with Olumide, I'd never really seen them together so far I was always in class unlike Kiiti who loved walking around,the nail in her bumbum would not allow her to sit in one place.

Jared dropped his tray and sat opposite me so far Kiishi was by my side. We all proceeded to eat our food in silence except Kiiti and Joshua who kept whistling into each other's ears. While eating I glanced at Jared several times and he did the same. Our eyes met one time but I broke it off.
