He stood at the curb waiting for his taxi to come around. It was 3:57pm. His bag was by his feet and he had an extra baseball hat and pair of sunglasses perched on the grass next to it. Under these things was a note assigned to Ruthie.
"Call me when you get to Nana's house." His mom said.
"Sure, mom."
He looked down the road from both sides and instantly regretted being rude yesterday.
"Where's that girl... Ruthie?"
"At school. Might be going to her house with her Bible crew."
"Bible crew?"
"Bible names. They're the Bible crew."
From the opposite way in which Ruthie had come with her friends yesterday, a yellow taxi came speeding down the road. His mom gave him a tight hug and almost stepped on the note, hat and sunglasses as the taxi stopped. He got into the taxi without looking at anything apart from his phone, so he didn't see Ruthie running down the hill and stopped when she saw him being taken away in the taxi.
