"No dad, I don't want these!"

"Leon come on, it's pastries. Just try them and tell me what you think" Luke said and pushed the plate over to his son, but Leon pushed it away with a face of distaste.

Luke didn't get it. They contained sugar and Leon was a kid; sugar was the only thing he ate.

"No, they've got some weird green mush on it, I don't want that" Leon spoke again and shook his head, firmly determined to not taste his father's new creations.

"It's mousse, not mush. And you're in my kitchen, you either eat it or get out" Luke spoke and pushed the plate over to Leon again. Leon rolled his eyes.

"Oh thanks dad, I can really feel the appreciation" Leon spoke before going back to munching on his cereal. Luke kept pushing the plate over at his son, annoying him further as he jabbed it against his forearm.

"Dad!"

"Just taste it! I need to know if they're good enough to put on the menu" Luke whined, a nearly childish pout showing on his face as he looked at his son with pleading eyes.

"No, leave me alone" Leon spoke without glancing up from the random gossip magazine he had found in the kitchen, probably belonging to Peach.

"Oh thanks bud, I can really feel the appreciation," Luke said, repeating his son's previous sarcastic comment, earning a content chuckle from Leon.

"Where's your sister? She will help her poor father out" Luke spoke again, letting the plate stay put on the table and looked around the spacious kitchen.

"I don't know" Leon spoke and shrugged before sliding his bowl of cereal over to his father, grinning contently when Luke pushed the pastries away with a sigh and took the spoon to start eating. "Where's your husband?"

"I don't know" Luke spoke through a mouthful of milk and cereal, mimicking his son's actions when shrugging as well. Leon chuckled before closing the magazine and turned his body fully to his father.

"Some husband you are" Leon spoke sarcastically, causing Luke to breathe out a laugh before reaching over and hooking an arm around his son's neck and pulled him to his chest, digging his knuckles into Leon's scalp.

"Some son you are," Luke spoke and laughed when Leon pushed away from him and ran his hands through his tussled hair with a frustrated look on his face. "You used to compliment me all the time when you were younger, you know? You thought I was a really really cool dad"

"Well, sucks for you, but I grew up and realized you're not the slightest bit cool" Leon spoke and patted his father's shoulder with a sympathetic expression on his face.

Luke snorted sarcastically before dipping a hand in the bowl of milk and soggy cereal, flinging a few drops of milk over at his son. Leon gasped before reaching over at the bowl, accidentally dipping his whole hand in it and threw a few soggy cereal pieces at Luke, making the bowl wobble from left to right before spilling everything out on the kitchen island.

"Why?" Luke whined with a sigh and picked a few pieces of cereal away from his shirt before looking at the mess on the table.

"What do you mean 'why'?" Leon asked and laughed, "You started it!"

Luke glanced away from the mess to look at his son, and immediately a smile spread on his face. There was not a second of the day where Leon couldn't do anything but make Luke smile.

Leon was all grown up, a full on teenager now, and Luke wanted to cry his eyes out at the thought of it- like he had done the morning of his kids every birthdays- but he didn't. Even though it was emotional to watch your kids grow up to be their own independent human beings, Luke just had to smile and enjoy the fact that he was a part of it all.

Leon and Peach were 14 years old, Luke was 30 and was slowly starting to feel old as hell, but he never dared to say that since Ashton was 33 and would probably start pouting if Luke started to complain about his own age. Though, Luke know they weren't even close to being old, and he didn't think Ashton looked a day over 20; the boy was just as beautiful and amazing as he had been the day they met, and Luke was still hopelessly in love.

"Morning" A sweet voice spoke, making Luke and Leon turn their heads to look at the source of the sound. Luke's smile widened when watching his daughter step into the kitchen, her hands occupied by tying her long sandy-blond locks in a high ponytail.

"Good morning, cutie" Luke spoke, a grin on his face as he watched Peach roll her eyes at the nickname. It was old and Peach had repeatedly complained about it, saying it was 'too childish' for her now, but Luke refused to give it up. She was still his little girl, just like Leon was his little boy. Age didn't change that, it never would.

Even though Peach had put on an annoyed face, she stepped forward into Luke's open arms and gave him a loving hug. It only lasted a few seconds though, since she pulled away quickly with a grimace.

"Ew, why's your shirt wet?" she asked and wiped her cheek with the back of her hand.

"Oh, I spilled some milk" Luke spoke and looked down at his grey t-shirt, frowning slightly when watching the wet dots. Leon chuckled next to him, causing Luke to whack his arm gently. "Thanks to this little shit"

Leon held a hand over the spot his father just slapped and looked at Luke with his mouth wide open, "You hug her and call her a cutie, and then you punch me and call me a shit? That's racist, dad"

"I think you mean sexist" Peach spoke matter-of-factly and filled her own bowl of milk and cereal before sitting down next to her brother, opening up the magazine that Leon previously had flipped through.

"Yeah, whatever," Leon mumbled and whacked his father back, "You're still mean. This is why I won't try your dessert"

Luke laughed and reached out to catch Leon's arm before pulling him to his chest again, embracing him in a tight hug this time. The teenager put up a fight for the first few seconds before giving up in his father's strong hold and relaxed, soon hugging him back.

"Love you" Luke whispered before leaving a kiss at the top of Leon's messy blondish hair.

"Love you too" Leon mumbled quietly and sat back in in his seat to look at the magazine Peach was now looking through, but Luke swore he caught a smile on his son's face.

"Ow!" was suddenly heard through the whole apartment and Luke straightened up in his seat quickly when hearing his husband cry out in pain. Worry flowed through him and he was just about to stand up and see what the matter was, but relaxed in his stool again when hearing Ashton call out again.

"Bacon!"

Luke breathed out a laugh and shook his head before watching Ashton walk into the kitchen with a brown-reddish cat hanging from his arms. Luke could faintly catch a few scratch marks on Ashton's elbow, making him laugh again.

"This cat is the devil" Ashton spoke before putting it down on the kitchen island and stepped away from it just as quickly. Bacon- as the cat was named after Peach and Leon so genially noticed its fur had the same color as cooked bacon- walked over to the spilt milk and cereal and started eating without a care in the world.

Ashton sighed and walked over to the sink, cleaning the scratch marks with cold water before turning to his husband and kids who were looking at him with amused expressions on their faces.

"It's not funny, it is like the 15th time this has happened" he said as he walked over and kissed Peach's cheek before standing by Leon. He tilted his son's head back, making Leon look at him upside-down, before Ashton shook his head.

"Control your cat" he spoke before placing a kiss on Leon's forehead. Leon tilted his head back up again and wiped his forehead while laughing.

"It's not my fault that Michael bought a 'devil cat'," he said before glancing at Bacon, "And since when is he my cat?"

"You're the one who wanted a cat" Luke spoke up and smiled at Ashton before pulling him close and wrapping his arms around his husband's waist. Ashton breathed out in content and smiled as well before wrapping his own arms around Luke's neck, loosely embracing him.

"Yeah, when I was like 4," Leon spoke and shook his head while pointing at the cat, "We got this one when I was 9 and I don't remember saying I wanted one then. I don't even like him anyway, he hates everyone except Peach"

"That's because I'm a much more lovable person than all of you" Peach spoke and smiled widely as the cat made its way over to her, swinging its hips and tail like if he was trying to rub all the spoken facts in their faces.

"Debatable" Leon mumbled under his breath, earning another punch by Peach this time, making him whine and look at her with wide eyes.

"I don't know," Ashton spoke up and never once let his eyes glance away from Luke's, "I think this one right here is pretty damn lovable"

"Debatable" the both teenagers spoke up at the same time, but Luke ignored them as he grinned at Ashton.

"I think you're pretty damn lovable as well" Luke murmured before leaning in to press his lips against Ashton's, humming when feeling the older boy smile against his lips.

"Alright, we get it. I'm not the most lovable family member, okay" Peach spoke, obviously not content with having her father's making out in front of her.

Though, Luke and Ashton knew about those facts and enjoyed teasing their kids a whole lot. So they kept kissing, exaggerating noises and movements to make their kids whine and complain, even though all their fathers did was share a simple kiss.

"I'll try your mushy things if you stop" Leon announced, making Luke pull away from Ashton right away and reached for the plate of pastries to slide it over to Leon again.

"It's mousse," Luke corrected again, taking one of the small pastries and split it in half with the help of a spoon that was close to him, "You can both try it and tell me what you think"

Peach happily reached for the dessert, always up for trying new things and always appreciating new flavors. Leon had grown up to be picky, but Luke had figured out that it was more about the eye than the taste. Because Leon was still interested in food and cooking, which Luke enjoyed a whole lot.

"Oh my god, dad," Peach spoke as she had chewed a bite of the pastry, "This is amazing"

After that comment Leon seemed to think it was safe to try as well, so he took a bite and closed his eyes in delight, nodding his head before reaching for another one. Luke was quick to slap his hand away though.

"What's up with you hurting me today?" Leon complained and massaged the hand his father had previously slapped.

"These are for a special occasion," Luke spoke and grabbed the plate again, "I just needed your opinion to see if it was alright"

"What special occasion?" Ashton asked as he turned back to the kitchen island and sat down, now with a cup of coffee placed in front of him.

"Well," Luke spoke and smiled before sliding the plate over to Ashton, "Happy anniversary, baby"

Ashton sat still and looked back and forth between the pastries and his husband before letting a warm smile spread on his face.

"Luke," he breathed out and laughed as he shook his head.

"Look at dad forgetting about their anniversary" Leon said and shook his head while Peach was letting out disappointing noises.

"I did not forget" Ashton said and looked at his kids with a determined look on his face.

"Then where's your gift?" Peach asked and tilted her head to the side, always up for confrontations and always winning them with her smart replies and negotiation skills. It was a curse for all the boys in the family. They had a hard time winning an argument against her.

"Well, young lady, if you must know I have a gift; it's just too inappropriate to show when you two are in the room" Ashton spoke, trying to mock his daughter's knowing tone, causing Luke to laugh.

"I just threw up in my mouth" Leon mumbled and grimaced over to his fathers before sliding out of his seat. Peach did the same, giving her fathers a look that said everything a teenager possibly could say, before taking Bacon in her arms.

"I think we need an empty house tonight because I'm really interested in that gift" Luke said obnoxiously loud for their kids to hear, laughing when Leon let out gagging noises.

"I'm moving out!" Peach called, and Leon agreed with her.

"Speaking of moving out," Ashton called and stepped away from Luke to exit the kitchen and stood beneath the indoor balcony the kids had from their floor. "You guys better help each other pack, because the moving guys are going to be here in two days and you haven't packed a thing"

Ashton only got mumbles in replies but he was content with that, and walked back to Luke who was still seated in the kitchen.

"You are aware that our anniversary isn't for another three weeks, right?" Ashton asked and laughed softly as he stood between Luke's legs and draped his arms around the blonde's neck.

"Of course I know that," Luke said and grinned as he raised a hand and brought it up to caress Ashton's cheek, "I just needed an excuse to get the house to ourselves tonight"

"I feel like you just earned the prize for the world's best dad for doing that," Ashton joked and laughed when Luke smirked. Ashton ran a hand through Luke's hair and sighed contently before leaning forward to place a sweet kiss on his husband's lips. "Why do we need the house to ourselves tonight?"

"Isn't that obvious?" Luke spoke and teasingly brushed his nose back and forth against Ashton's, causing the older one to breathe out a laugh. "No, I just thought that we should use every second we have now and take great care of it. We won't even have time to sleep in the next coming weeks, so I thought we should celebrate our anniversary now when we have the time?"

Ashton listened to Luke speak with a fond smile on his face, and nodded his head as Luke looked at him with big blue eyes. Ashton chuckled.

"I love that idea, thank you" Ashton whispered before pressing his lips against Luke's again, smiling when feeling how the blonde tightened his hold around him. "We have a lot on our plate for weeks now, you sure we can do it?"

"I'm sure," Luke spoke and nodded his head while letting his hands caress Ashton's back, "This is a dream coming true for all of us. I won't let that slip away that easily"

After being a couple for years and raising their kids to become young adults, Luke had realized he wanted to take things further for himself. He wanted to become even more independent than he already was, so after talking to Ashton who had been complaining about his work for years and years, they started working together instead.

So they decided to open up their own restaurant, and after a bit of struggle, everything went smoothly. So smoothly that they now had been offered a bigger place by a better location, making it impossible for Ashton and Luke to say no.

So here they were, about to open their own restaurant at the coast of the city, already getting promising words from all over after Ashton had used his professional mind to the fullest. Luke knew he wouldn't be anywhere without Ashton, so it was more than obvious for both of them to become owners of their restaurant.

They were working though; day in and day out to get the restaurant finished by the opening date. Luke was working so hard to get a perfect new opening menu, and Ashton was constantly making sure the renovation and economy was going smoothly.

It was a whole lot of work, but it was so worth it.

"I know," Ashton breathed out and tapped his fingers against Luke's cheekbones in a calming matter, "I just hate moving. It's so energy consuming"

Luke chuckled at Ashton's tired face and pulled him closer in his arm before making him sit in his lap and buried his face in the crook for Ashton's neck.

"I know, but it will be so much easier now than the last time" Luke murmured.

With the moving of the restaurant, and the amount of money Ashton and Luke were now earning on their business, they were moving to a house. A real house with a basement and an attic. A house with flowers in a garden, even though neither Luke or Ashton knew anything about taking care of plants and nature.

But it was a real house, for their real family, so it was perfect.

Luke was excited to move and get something bigger and also live closer to his restaurant. Ashton had needed a bit of persuading, but Luke had the help of their daughter for that. Peach was more than excited to get out of her small room and get something bigger where she could move around without having to 'walk on her tippy toes' as she told them.

Leon had needed the most persuading. He had been hesitant to leave his comfort zone and find a new one, since this is where he had grown up. He had done everything in this apartment, he even went to school here, so he thought it was hard to leave it all behind.

After Peach and Leon got kicked out of preschool- all thanks to Luke- the two father's had had a hard time finding them another school, so they decided to have a teacher coming to their home instead. Years went by like that and the kids were doing fine, so good that they graduated middle school with top grades all through homeschooling.

After that Ashton had talked to Luke about letting them start high school, for real. Luke was hesitant, not sure if his kids were ready to start a real high school after being held off from that kind of thing for so long. He knew it was because of him they had been separated from that world and he sometimes had thought it was a mistake, but his kids never complained so in the end it worked. But soon enough Ashton had put an end to Luke's over protective nonsense and assured him it would be fine, so it was decided. They were to start high school.

Luke sometimes found himself awake at the middle of the night and just thought about his life, and just how amazing it had turned out. When he was younger he was in such a low point in his life, and seeing him now he had a hard time believing he was the same person as before. He was one lucky man though, and he never took his blessing for granted.

"Yeah, you're right" Ashton whispered and nodded his head at Luke's assuring words before smiling, "Everything will be amazing"

Luke returned the smile and breathed out a laugh before turning Ashton's head his way so he could place his lips on his husband's. Luke would never grow tired of those lips. Ever.

"So, happy anniversary, baby" Luke whispered out again as they had parted from the kiss.

"Happy anniversary," Ashton replied and kissed the tip of Luke's nose. "Eight years, can you believe that? And we're only in our early thirties" Ashton whispered and shook his head in disbelief.

"Yeah," Luke said and grinned proudly before leaning in to brush his lips against Ashton's again, letting his fingertips caress the wedding ring on his husband's finger, "And let there be many many more"
