Chapter Six

Y/n's P.O.V.

All-day I watched as Klaus and Demarcus ran around the library reorganizing shelves. I asked them if they needed any help with the shelves, but before Klaus could even answer, Demarcus would interrupt him, saying that they didn't need any help.

Hardly anybody entered the library and I was surprised by the lack of people. If only there was some way that I could help Klaus and Demarcus. Maybe Demarcus is lying to himself, he needs help with the library. I then realized what I could do.

When Klaus went on break, I asked Demarcus if I could talk to him in private. We walked over to the far corner of the library near one of the large stain-glassed windows. "What do you need child?" he asked in a low tone.

"I was wondering if you could use another extra set of hands, maybe someone who could help around the library," I hoped that Demarcus would say yes, but he just looked confused, like I had just spoke gibberish.

"What I'm trying to ask is, do you think I could work here and give you and Klaus a hand with the library? I'm very helpful and I can help keep things tidy," I explained.

Demarcus' face softened, his dark green eyes quickly scanned the library, like he was searching for something. I couldn't help but look over my shoulder thinking that Klaus could come back from his break at any minute.

"Ok, I'll make this quick, just answer this question, do you read books?" I was surprised by the question that Demarcus had asked. "Yes, I love to read; I've been reading since I was a little girl," I answered.

"Then congratulations Ms. L/n, you are now a library assistant," Demarcus smiled and held out his hand to shake mine. I smiled as it shook it and assured that I wouldn't let him down.

"Do you want to tell Klaus yourself?" he asked. I nodded, and I heard the sound of footsteps coming towards us, and I knew that Klaus was back from his break. I couldn't believe that I only had to answer one question and I was immediately hired as a library assistant.

I was excited to tell Klaus because not only would I have a job, I would get to hang out with him more. Demarcus walked away and was Klaus soon came into view after walking past one of the shelves. I heard the door close again; Demarcus went on his lunch break.

Klaus and I were alone, next to so many shelves of books. "So, have you found other books that capture your interest?" he asked breaking the brief silence between us. "I haven't found any yet, I'm just keeping my eye out," I answered.

Klaus and I began to walk down the different sections of the left-wing and I felt him gently take my hand in his. I felt my cheeks began to glow once again.

"You're blushing," Klaus pointed out. At first, I thought he wasn't paying attention, until I saw that his eyes met mine. I opened my mouth trying to deny that I wasn't blushing, but the words would not come out.

"I blush at how sweet you are," I said. He let out a small giggle and gently took my left hand and gently placed a kiss on my knuckles. "How sweet am I? On a scale of one to ten?" he asked. "I'd say you're a ten," I answered.

Klaus began to smile and his cheeks were beginning to turn pink. We looked at each other and he slowly began to lean in towards me. I was unsure for a moment, but I began to lean towards him too.

But before anything could happen, the clock that was near the entrance of the library rang throughout the library. "What time is it?" I asked looking back towards the direction of the clock.

"It's one, I'm gonna go find Demarcus and tell him that we're leaving," I nodded, and Klaus walked down the rest of the aisle to find Demarcus. I decided that I would tell him that I was going to be working at the library at dinner.

I wasn't sure abouthow Violet would react, but I hoped that she would be happy for me. I walkedback towards the front doors of the library and glance back at the shelves ofbooks for a split second, knowing that I would be back.
