Chapter Eighteen
Y/n's P.O.V.
Klaus and I couldn't stop staring at each other, if we were putting books on the shelves we would glance back at each other. I never had feelings for anyone before, and I was happy that Klaus was the first guy I had been friends with. When we finished putting all the books away, Demarcus needed Klaus' help shelving the science books. I checked the shelves and made sure all of the books were in alphabetical order. It didn't take that long considering that nobody ever visited the library.
When I went on break, I wrote a note to Klaus I wanted to talk to him about something important. I looked up and saw him putting the last few science books on the shelves. Demarcus was on the other side of the shelf adding more books. "Can I help with anything?" I asked sitting down next to Klaus. "No, I think we're good," he smiled. I handed him the folded paper in my hand. He looked confused at first but then opened it. "Okay, I'll be outside in a few minutes," he said.
I was excited, but I played it cool. "Okay, see you," I said getting up and walking away. I stepped outside of the library and leaned against one of the small metal railings on the steps of the library. The street was quiet, with the except for a few passing cars. The air smelled clean and fresh and the scent of flowers filled the air. It was the perfect scene to talk to Klaus. I then heard the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs. I turned around an saw and adorable little girl with curly reddish-brown hair.
She was wearing a pink pinstriped suit, with a small purple tie. "Hi there, can I help you?" I asked. She looked like she was about to cry. "Yes, I escaped," she answered tears filling her eyes. I felt so sorry for her and I wanted to hug her. "Escaped from who?" I asked. "Esme Squalor," she answered wiping away her tears. I was surprised to learn that Esme kidnapped another child. "I was in the care of Esme Squalor too," I said offering her my hand. She grabbed it, and a wicked grin spread across her face. "Gotcha!" she cackled. She started pulling me away from the library.
"Klaus, Demarcus help!" I screamed towards the library. I held onto the railing for dear life. The doors of the library swung open and Klaus and Demarcus were horrified by what they saw. "Klaus help me!" I cried. He grabbed my other arm and started pulling me towards him. "I got you," he whispered.
I was praying that Klaus would be able to pull me away from the little hooligan. "Oh no, you don't," she laughed and she pulled a little harder and I was pulled away from Klaus. My hand flew away from his and I was pulled away towards a light gray car. "Klaus, save me!" I screamed as the girl pushed me into the backseat of the car. He ran down the stairs and towards the car but it was too late, the car went speeding off. I saw him running towards the car, I saw a small glimmer of hope that he still might be able to save me.
"Hello, Y/n, nice to see you again," a blonde-haired woman in the driver's seat grinned. Almost immediately, I knew who my captures' were. The window was rolled down slightly and I knew that I had to tell Klaus who took me. "Klaus, it's Esme Squalor and Carmelita Spats, you have to remember that!" I screamed out the window. Esme rolled the window up and Carmelita put a piece of tape over my mouth as the car made a sharp turn onto another street.
