Chapter 1 Tutor
A/N: here we go! Chapter 1. <3
"Bex lets go!" Jason hollered and pounded on Rebecca's bedroom door.
"Give me a minute Jason!" Bex groaned at her older brother's impatience. She looked down at her sketchbook, at the fairy she had been working on all morning. Bex loved to draw, and she really loved to draw mythical creatures. It was a talent she mostly kept to herself because her parents didn't think it would get her anywhere.
"Bex you have 10 seconds to finish getting ready or I'm leaving you here!" Jason said.
"Fine!" Bex yelled and slammed her sketchbook shut and threw it into her backpack.
Bex looked into her vanity and adjusted her blond ponytail making sure it was picture perfect, because with her name, she couldn't have anything less. She sighed heavily and stood up and put her backpack over her shoulders and adjusted green skirt of her cheerleading uniform. She hated that it was so short. She really didn't like the entire basketball team staring at her legs. She walked over to the door as Jason began pounding on it again. She opened it.
"I swear to God Jason if you don't stop I'm going to do that to your head." Bex threatened.
"What were you even doing in there? Apparently it wasn't your makeup." Jason scoffed.
"Well that was rude." Bex rolled her eyes and walked past him. "I'll do it at school."
"Rebecca honey, sit down and eat something before you leave." Her mother said.
"Apparently I don't have time." Bex said and shot a glare at her brother.
"You have plenty of time. Eat." Her father said without even looking up from his newspaper. Bex stuck her tongue out at her brother and sat down, helping herself to some scrambled eggs and toast. Her mother brought her a glass of orange juice.
"Thanks mom." Bex said and looked up at her mother. Her mother gave her a look that resembled disappointment.
"What?" Bex asked with a mouthful of scrambled eggs.
"Don't talk with your mouthful Rebecca, it's not ladylike.." Her mother sighed. "And you look like you just rolled out of bed."
Bex sighed and groaned.
"Don't groan at your mother Rebecca." Her father said, again not even bothering to look up from his paper.
"You really should take more pride in how you look, Rebecca. You don't want to give people the wrong idea."
Bex felt a pang of sadness. Her mother was always focused on how she looked, and as soon as she made the cheer squad her freshman year she was also focused on how much she weighed.
"I'm sorry." She mumbled. "I was going to do my makeup in first period..."
"Okay, just as long as you don't go all day looking like that." Her mother smiled. Bex looked down at the rest of her eggs on her plate.
"I'm going to be late. I'm going to go ahead and go." She said and tried to keep her mother from seeing the tears welling up in her eyes.
"Alright, you guys have a good day, I'll see you later. I love you."
"Love you too." Bex said and hurried away from the table and out the front door.
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bex looked into her compact and applied her soft pink lipstick to her lips.
"Miss Carver, Please pay more attention to your studies, and less on your looks." Her history teacher sighed.
I wish I could. Is what Bex wanted to say. "Give me just a minute Mr. Steele, I promise I'm almost done." She said instead and flashed her bright white smile at him and batted her long curled lashes. Inside she was gagging, as her teacher smiled and nodded his head. She knew, she could get away with almost anything in his class because he had a disturbing crush on her, and she hated herself for using it to her advantage.
"Just hurry it up." He said and went back to writing on the chalkboard.
She heard someone scoff to the left of her and turned to see a girl with dark purple colored lipstick and eye make up like a raccoon, dressed mostly in black, except for a pair of purple chuck taylors. Blaire Nolan. Blaire hated Bex, and Bex honestly couldn't blame her but, as it was drilled into her head since she could talk, she had an image to maintain.
"Have something to say Blaire?" Bex sneered.
"Nothing at all. Bex." Blaire sneered back.
"Thats what I thought..freak." Bex said.
Blaire turned to Mr. Steele and gestured to Bex.
"Simmer down Blaire." Mr. Steele said.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Blaire asked.
"Go to the office Nolan." Mr. Steele said.
"This is bullshit." Blaire said and stood up and walked past Bex.
"Bye Bye Blaire." Bex said with a grin.
Blaire went to turn around and say something to her.
"Out! Now!" Mr. Steele said and pointed to the door. Blaire stormed out of the classroom and slammed the door behind her. Bex sighed to herself and finished her makeup and tucked it securely into her backpack before opening her notebook to write down the notes Mr. Steele was writing down on the chalkboard.
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bex opened her locker to retrieve her science textbook for her next class.
"Hey Bex!" A bubbly voice said from behind her. Bex turned and smiled.
"Chrissy! Hi." She replied.
"What are your plans after school? Chrissy asked.
"As of right now, I don't have any, but its probably going to be studying for this stupid science test." Bex said.
"Jason and I were going to go watch a movie at the drive-in. Why don't you come?"
"Chris, come on. I don't want to be a third wheel especially on a date between you and my brother." Bex chuckled.
"So bring Luke." Chrissy sighed. "Come on Bex it will be fun!" Bex sighed and then felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her waist and pull her back flush against their chest.
"What will be fun babe?" Luke asked and kissed Bex on the neck. Bex pulled away from him.
"Quit sneaking up on me like that Luke!" She said and slapped his chest.
"Take it easy Bexie" Luke said.
"I was just telling Bex that Jason and I are going to the drive in tonight, and you two should come too."
"I'm in." Luke said. "Whatcha think Bex?"
"Sure. Sounds fun." Bex faked a smile and closed her locker. In reality Bex would have rather dug her eyes out with a rusty spoon, every time her and Luke went out, he tried to get in her pants and she just wasn't ready for that yet and the drive in was the place where most of her friends had their first times with their partners.
"I better get to class." Bex said and tried to move past Luke who caught her by her wrist pulling her back and planting his lips on hers. Bex tried to push him away. It wasn't that he was a terrible kisser, but if Bex were being honest with herself, she just wasn't feeling the connection with Luke anymore, When they first started dating last year, he was really sweet, and made her feel safe. Now, he was impatient, and she felt uncomfortable being alone with him.
"Get a room!"
Luke pulled away from Bex, and turned to the source of the interruption of his one sided make-out session with Bex in the middle of the hallway.
Eddie Munson.
"Fuck you Freak!" Luke spat.
Eddie flipped Luke his favorite finger as he walked by. Bex tried to hide a smile. She looked up at Luke and noticed instantly that she wasn't successful in hiding her smile.
"Something funny?" He asked.
"No, I was just thinking about our date tonight." Bex lied. Since her Sophomore year, Bex had been kept her eyes on Eddie, she didn't know why but he was almost always on her mind. She was fascinated by him, and maybe it was just because Eddie had a carelessness about him that seemed so freeing.
Lukes blue eyes softened.
"Its going to be great Babe." He said and leaned in and kissed her and pulled back. "I better let you get to class. See ya at lunch Bexie." He smiled.
"See ya." Bex replied and walked away. Once she was around the corner out of his eyesight she leaned against the wall and took a deep breath letting out the anxiety while no one was around to see it.
"Hey..you okay?"
Bex knew that voice..But She'd never heard it directed at her. Bex hesitantly turned around and noticed Eddie behind her.
"I mean I'd need to catch my breath after that hoover vacuum of a person was attached to my face sucking my soul out too." Eddie said with a smirk. Bex took a second to realize he was talking about Luke and she let out an accidental giggle and bit her lip to stop it.
"Ah. theres a laugh." Eddie smiled. "But..seriously are you okay?" He asked.
Bex swallowed hard and opened her mouth to answer him, but the bell rang.
"Shit. I'm late." She said. "I have to go!" Bex added and took off in a sprint down the hall towards the science lab.
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the time lunch rolled around Bex was starving, she'd hardly eaten breakfast and it was cheeseburger day in the cafeteria and Bex was eagerly waiting in line. Most of the rest of the cheer squad was in the line for Salads, but Bex was feeling a bit rebellious today and refused to go another day eating rabbit food for lunch.
Rosie the lunch lady, seemed surprised when it was her turn.
"I don't normally see you in this line sweetheart." She said and placed a foil wrapped cheeseburger on her tray.
"I didn't really eat breakfast so I'm kind of hungry." Bex said sheepishly.
"No need to be shy. Youre hungry, you eat. No one gets to tell you otherwise." She said smiled warmly and put an extra helping of french fries on her plate.
"Thank you Rosie." Bex smiled. Bex squirted some ketchup onto her plate and grabbed a chocolate milk carton and opened it taking drink before setting it back onto the tray.
Bex walked out into the cafeteria. Chrissy stood up and waved at her to join them at their usual table. Bex was making her way there when she was stopped by Blaire Nolan. Bex rolled her eyes and tried to walk past her, but Blaire stepped in her way everywhere she went.
"What do you want Blaire?" Bex asked, annoyed.
Blaire smacked the bottom of Bex's tray of food. Bex yelped as her chocolate milk splashed her in her face and spilled all down the front of her uniform. Blaire pushed the tray against her making sure to smear the ketchup all over her as well before letting the tray drop to the floor.
"Thats for the shit you pulled in History." Blaire said and walked away.
The whole cafeteria fell silent waiting for a reaction. Bex looked around at everyone staring at her. Eddie approached her with some Napkins, and Jason took that as his cue to step up.
"Sorry about Blaire..she's a real loose cannon." Eddie sighed. Bex just kept her eyes down and whimpered frozen in place.
Jason walked over and snatched the napkins from Eddie's hand.
"Keep your band of freaks on a leash Munson." He growled.
"Jason, stop." Bex said quietly.
"What?" Jason asked.
"Just stop!" Bex yelled at him and took the napkins from him before running out of the cafeteria crying. Chrissy got up and followed her.
"I was just trying to help her man." Eddie said.
"Keep yourself, and the rest of your misfits away from my sister. That's your warning." Jason
Said.
"If I were you I'd be more worried about her boyfriend who likes to play tonsil hockey with her in the hallway than about someone who is bringing her napkins to help clean herself off." Eddie said.
"Stay out of it Munson." Jason said with a threatening tone.
Eddie scoffed and threw his hands up in mock surrender before walking back to his table.
"That was a little much Blaire." Eddie said.
"You can't be serious Munson." Blaire laughed.
"Do I look like I'm kidding Blaire?" Eddie asked and sat down.
"Oh Come on Eddie, after all the shit they put us through, it was about time for one of us to get them back." Blaire scoffed. "What is your deal? You like her or something?"
"The point is, just because they're a bunch of assholes, doesn't mean we need to be assholes, We're supposed to be better." Eddie said.
"Give me a break." Blaire rolled her eyes.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Bex..please come out." Chrissy said and knocked lightly on the bathroom stall where Bex was currently hiding herself.
"I'm covered in chocolate milk and ketchup. No I will not come out." Bex sniffled.
"I brought you your gym clothes..and I think Jason used the office phone to call your mom to bring you your spare uniform. But you can wear these until she gets here." Chrissy said. Bex opened the stall door. Wiping tears from her eyes.
"Oh Bex.." Chrissy frowned and took the napkins she had left trying to wipe the mascara off her cheeks.
"Lets go to the locker room and you can shower and get the chocolate milk out of your hair. That will make you feel better I bet." Chrissy offered.
Bex nodded and followed Chrissy out of the bathroom heading towards the locker room.
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After Bex was finished with her shower She sat cross legged on a bench in the locker room while Chrissy fixed her make-up.
"You don't have to do this you know." Bex sighed.
"I want to. You're like a younger sister to me and believe me, we will get Blaire back for what she did."
"We also don't have to do that." Bex sighed.
"What do you think it will look like if we let her get away with that?"
Bex shrugged, she knew she wasn't really going to be able to talk anyone out of getting Blaire back, this whole school was one big stupid turf war.
Chrissy pulled away and smiled.
"There we go. Picture perfect." She said.
"Can't have anything less I suppose." Bex said with a half smile.
"Rebecca Carver to the office, Rebecca Carver to the office." The secretary's voice rang out on the intercom.
"Oh boy." Bex sighed.
"Its probably just your mom with your cheer outfit." Chrissy said.
"You're probably right...but still, oh boy. I can only imagine the scene she's causing."
Chrissy stood up and held her hand out.
"Only one way to find out." She said. Bex smiled and took her hand. Chrissy helped her up and put her arm around her shoulders walking with her to the office.
"Here we go." Bex mumbled under her breath as she saw her mother standing with the principal raising ten tons of hell. Her mother noticed her coming down the hall and stopped talking to the principal to dramatically run to Bex with her arms open.
"My poor baby," She said and hugged Bex. "Are you okay? Did that little heathen hurt you?"
"With chocolate milk and Ketchup? No.. Mom I'm fine. Chrissy got me all set." Bex said her mother hugged Chrissy tightly.
"Thank you for taking care of her."
"Any time Mrs. Carver." Chrissy smiled.
"Let me see the damage to your uniform."
Bex reluctantly handed over the bag with her uniform. Her mother opened it and gasped.
"Oh Rebecca Its absolutely ruined!" She said.
"I'm sure it can be washed." Bex mumbled.
"Look at this!" Her mother exclaimed. "I certainly hope that little delinquents parents are going to pay for a new one!"
"Mrs. Carver it will be taken care of I assure you." The principal said trying to calm the situation.
"What is even on this?..Is that Ketchup??"
"Yes Mom.." Bex said.
"I see you weren't sticking to your diet today." She said sternly. Bex's shoulders sank.
"Actually.. Bex was getting me the Cheeseburger Mrs. Carver." Chrissy said. "We had finished our Salads and I was still hungry so Bex used her extra lunch credits to get me the burger I'm sorry, I didn't know Blaire was going to throw the whole tray at her."
"Its alright sweetie its not your fault." Mrs. Carver smiled and turned back to the principal. "What are you going to do about this Blaire?" She asked.
"Miss Nolan has already been suspended for the next three days. Her father has already come to get her." The principal informed her.
"It should have been longer than that if you ask my husband and I give over half of the funding to this schools athletics, and its just ridiculous that my children are being treated this way." She scoffed.
"Mom..I'm fine. Can I have the other uniform please? I want to put it in my locker until after school and I can put it on for Cheer practice."
Mrs. Carver handed over the uniform.
"Go on girls, Don't be late to class." She said and went back to tearing the principal a new asshole.
Poor guy.. Bex thought as her and Chrissy walked away.
"Thank you for covering me." Bex said.
"Don't mention it.
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After school, Bex was back in the locker room putting on her uniform and she could not get the skirt to fit right and she was starting to panic.
"Bex are you still in here?" Chrissy called.
"Yeah." Bex replied.
"Coach is wondering what's taking so long." Chrissy said.
Bex started pacing. She knew if she had to tell her mother that her uniform wasn't fitting, it would be a mess and she would be accused of eating too much.
"I think I might have to go home Chris I'm not feeling too good." Bex said.
"Whats wrong?" Chrissy asked and noticed Bexs feet pacing under the stall door. "Bex?"
Bex sat on the bench in the changing room chewing at her fingernails, which was a habit that her mother thought she broke her of, but she still did it in cases of severe anxiety.
Chrissy grabbed a chair and pulled it over the the stall and stood up and peeked over the top of the stall at her friend.
"Bex, what are you doing?" She asked.
Bex looked up at her with teary eyes. "My uniform won't fit." She said. "I can't even think about eating a cheeseburger without gaining weight." She cried. "My mom is going to be so mad."
"Unlock the stall and let me in." Chrissy said and hopped down from the chair. Bex unlocked the stall and let Chrissy in.
Chrissy looked at the skirt. "Bex, this is your skirt from last year, Of course it doesn't fit right. Your mom must have grabbed it on accident." She said.
"I didn't even look at the size. Now I feel like an idiot." Bex sighed.
"Don't feel like an idiot.. Someone has made you feel insecure about your weight and that is not okay...Okay?" Chrissy said.
"Tell my mom that." Bex sighed.
"I'll tell your mom, and you tell my mom." Chrissy said.
"Oh..Chrissy I'm sorry I didn't know your mom was obsessed about your weight too." Bex said and leaned on Chrissy's shoulder.
"Its okay Bex. It will be okay." She said with her usual bubbly smile. But Bex could see something in her eyes that she hadn't seen before, pain.
"Are you okay Chrissy?" Bex asked.
"Yeah! Of course. We'll get through this together." Chrissy nodded. "Come on, lets go practice. Just wear your gym clothes Coach wont mind." She said and stood up Grabbing Bex's hand pulling her along with her.
"Let me put my shorts Back on Chris." Bex chuckled "I'm sure coach would mind that."
Chrissy laughed.
"Probably."
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Bex! Lets go!" Jason said and pounded on her door.
"Its like Deja vu I fucking swear." Bex mumbled to herself and finished her makeup and her hair. Bex walked to the door and opened it again.
"I believe I told you this morning that if you pounded on my door again, I'd do that to your head." Bex said.
"You wouldn't." Jason smirked and ruffled her hair.
"Jason!" Bex practically shrieked and started chasing him down the stairs.
"Stop running down the stairs!" Their father scolded them.
"Jason messed up my hair Daddy!" Bex pouted.
"Oh, no. Not the hair." Her father said unenthused.
"Someone should teach Bex to drive so I don't have to drive her around everywhere." Jason teased as Bex was smoothing her hair back out.
"I don't like the idea of your sister being behind the wheel" Their father said.
Bex was okay with that. She was terrified to drive herself.
"You guys have fun tonight." Their mother smiled and hugged them both.
"Not too much fun Rebecca Jason, keep an eye on your sister.." Their dad said.
"Will do, Sir." Jason replied.
Bex rolled her eyes. She didn't understand why Jason could do whatever he wanted but she wasn't allowed to because she was a girl.
"Be back by midnight please." Their mother said.
That was the only good thing about going places with her older brother, was she got the same curfew. When she was going out by herself with friends she had to be back by 10 per her fathers rules and if she were any later, she'd never hear the end of it.
"Yes Ma'am." Jason said. "Come on Bex, we gotta go pick up Chrissy and meet Luke at the drive in." Jason said.
Bex followed Jason out the door and then they got into his truck.
"So..you know what would be fun, if we opened the bed of your truck and all watched the movie together." Bex suggested.
Jason started his truck and pulled out of the driveway.
"Well, Chrissy and I have...plans" Jason said.
"J..I'm 17. You don't have to sugar coat that you and you're girlfriend are going to have sex...Nevermind it was a stupid idea." Bex said and looked down at her hands. Jason paid attention to the way her hands trembled slightly.
"Rebecca.." He said in a more serious tone.
"What?" Bex asked.
"Is everything okay?" Jason asked.
"Yeah. Why?" Bex asked.
"You just seem nervous. Did something happen with Luke?" He asked.
Of all the things that Bex wanted to talk to her older brother about this was not one of them.
"No, everythings fine. Its just been a day." Bex said. "I'm fine." She smiled at her brother.
"If you say so." Jason said skeptically.
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once they got to the drive in, they parked next to Luke. Bex got out of Jasons truck and joined Luke beside his truck.
"Hey baby." Luke grinned and leaned down to kiss her. "I brought you some flowers, I know you had a kind of terrible day at school so I figured these would make you feel better." He said and passed her a beautiful bouquet of red roses.
"OH..Luke they're beautiful! Thank you!" Bex beamed. There were moments when he was still like when they first met, that reminded her why she liked him in the first place.
"Anything for you." Luke smiled "You want any popcorn or anything?"
"Oh No, I ate dinner before coming. Thank you though." Bex smiled and put her nose back in her roses.
"Alright then." Luke said and opened the passenger door of his truck and helped her in and shut the door then came around to the drivers side and got in.
As the movie went on, Luke was scooting closer to Bex, which she didn't mind too much. It was only when his hand started making its way up her thigh that she got uncomfortable. She put her hand over his and looked at him.
"Come on Bexie, you trust me right?" Luke asked.
"Of course I trust you Luke." Bex lied.
"We are the only two left watching this movie. Look around." Bex looked around and literally every vehicle window was fogged over.
"But the point of going to see a movie is watching the movie." Bex laughed nervously.
Luke leaned in and started placing kisses up her neck to her ear.
"I love you Rebecca." He said and pinned her underneath him.
"Luke.." Bex said. "Luke stop." She said beginning to panic now. She kept trying to push him off of her but he had it to where she couldn't move her hands. Luke's hand went up her skirt and his hand brushed her cloth underwear.
"Luke! Stop!" Bex shrieked now. Luke pulled back.
"Bex what is the problem? I thought you said you trusted me." He frowned. "Don't you love me?"
"I do Luke, but I'm not ready for this and I really don't want to lose my virginity in your truck!" She said, "I want it to be special."
"I love you, you love me, how is that not special enough for you Bex?" Luke said getting annoyed now.
"Can we not fight about this right now Luke, lets just watch the movie. Please." Luke sighed heavily and sat back in his seat.
"I'm going to get some popcorn." He said and slid out of his truck and before Bex could say anything he slammed the door in her face.
Bex sat back with her hands trembling and her eyes welling over. Maybe..she should have just given in. All her friends with boyfriends had already done things with their partners and Maybe Bex was silly for wanting it to be special when it didn't seem to matter to anyone else. She looked in the rearview mirror and fixed her makeup a bit and then dug into her purse and sprayed a little more perfume on. This was it. When Luke got back, She was going to go for it. She didn't want to be the only one of her friends without a boyfriend and she felt like if she kept telling him no, he was going to break up with her.
It had been at least 30 minutes and Luke hadn't made it back yet. She was beginning to get a little hungry herself so she decided to go meet him at the concession stand and see what was taking some long, and get some nachos. Bex got out of the truck and made her way to the concession stand but there was no one in line.
"Steve Harrington, when did you start working the drive in?" Bex asked with a smile. Steves eyes widened at her.
"Uh... Hey... Kid.. I didn't know you were here." He said nervously.
"Yeah I'm here with Luke. Have you seen him?" Bex asked.
"Uh...." Steve fumbled. "You look hungry. Want some Nachos? I know you like the nachos."
"Why are you acting so weird, Harrington." Bex asked and put her hands on her hips.
Robin walked back through the kitchen. "Dude theres two people out back getting freaky with it."
Steve cringed and then turned to Bex who was starting to realize why Steve was acting so weird. Bex started walking towards the back of the Concession stand.
"Bexie! Wait!" Steve shouted and jumped over the concession stand chasing after her. "Bex Please.. Don't go back there."
"Why? Why not Steve?!" Bex Demanded.
"Bexie I'm sorry. He told me you two weren't together anymore. Please don't go back there. Come to the kitchen and binge eat your weight in Nachos with me. He's not worth it."
Bex pushed her way past Steve and went around to the back of the concession stand with Steve hot on her heels. To see Luke and some other girl screwing against the wall.
"You are such an Asshole!" Bex screeched. Luke spun around.
"Shit.. Bex." He said and adjusted his pants. Bex turned around and started storming back to Lukes truck.
Luke tried to follow but Steve stopped him.
"You told me you two broke up. Why the hell would you do that to her?!" Steve demanded.
"Oh Piss off Harrington, you aren't a saint either." Luke grumbled and ran after Bex to catch up with her
"Bex! Wait Just talk to me!" He said as he caught up with her.
Bex spun around and slapped him across the face so hard his lip split open.
"Jesus Christ Bex! Chill the fuck out!"
"How could you?!" Bex demanded through tears. "How the fuck could you tell me you love me and then do that?!"
"Bex I have needs! What do you expect me to do when you won't fulfill them?!"
"I expect you to be patient and wait until I'm ready!" Bex yelled.
"Oh Grow the hell up Bex!" Luke shouted. Bex swung the door to his truck open and grabbed her purse and the roses he had brought for her."
"Bex come on, lets talk it out Please."
"Fuck you! We're through!" Bex screamed and threw the roses at him and slammed his truck door shut and stormed away.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What was that?" Chrissy asked as the truck door slamming outside startled her. Jason looked up and watched his sister storm away from Lukes truck towards the exit.
"Shit." He sighed.
"What?" Chrissy asked.
"Theres something wrong with Bex. She's trying to leave and my Dad will kill me if she walks all the way home this late."
"Do you want me to go talk to her?" Chrissy asked.
"No, I've got this, I had a feeling something wasn't right before we came here, but she wouldn't tell me. I hate that she doesn't talk to me about things anymore.." He sighed.
"It doesn't have anything to do with you J, you're a good Brother. If I had a brother I wouldn't want to talk to him about boy problems either. Go talk to her. You know how she gets when she's upset." Chrissy smiled and leaned in and kissed him.
"I love you." He said and smiled.
"Love you too." She smiled and adjusted herself in the seat.
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Rebecca?" Jason called He stopped for a second to listen and then followed the sounds of sniffling and crying and found Bex sitting behind a tree.
"Bex?" He asked
Bex looked up at him and then looked away.
"I'm fine. Go watch the movie with Chrissy." Bex said.
"You are not fine. What happened?" Jason asked.
"Luke happened." She mumbled. "Every time we go out lately he tries to get me to have sex with him and I kept telling him I wasn't ready..and tonight he tried again and when I told him no, he got mad and told me he was going to get popcorn." Bex sobbed.
"What happened after that?" Jason asked with his fists clenched at his sides.
"I thought about it and I was just going to go for it when he came back because I thought he would break up with me if I didn't."
"Rebecca.. Please tell me you didn't." Jason said.
"I didn't. He was gone so long.. That I went looking for him..and I found him..screwing some other girl...Why would he do that to me Jason? What is wrong with me?"
Jason walked over to Bex and held his hand out. Bex took his hand and he helped her up.
"There isn't anything wrong with you Rebecca, You were too good for him." Jason said and wiped the tears from her cheeks. "You don't let anyone make that decision for you. Understood?"
Bex nodded and sniffled. Jason pulled her into a hug.
"Bex?? Are you over here?" Luke called and walked into sight.
"Oh. Jason, hey. I was just looking for Bex."
"Why? So you can hurt her more than you already have?" Jason asked.
"What did she tell you?" Luke asked.
"She told me everything." Jason said and stepped away from Bex walking towards Luke.
"Come on man, You know how dramatic she can be. It was just a little fight."
"Fucking look at her Luke! Do you honestly expect me to believe that this was just from a little fight?" Jason snapped and shoved him. "I trusted you, to take care of her! And you decide that because she won't have sex with you because shes not ready, that she's useless to you!"
Luke went to speak but Jason punched him in the face.
"Jason!" Bex said and stepped closer.
"Rebecca go wait in the truck with Chrissy." He said.
"Jason..you're scaring me."
"Bex just go!" He said in a tone that left no room for argument. Bex hurried back to the lot of cars.
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bex was in the truck with Chrissy talking about how Mad Jason looked, and how she was worried about her brother when Jason opened the drivers side door and got in and started the truck.
"Jason! Your hands!" Chrissy exclaimed. Bex looked at his hands on the steering wheel, his knuckles were bloodied and his hand looked bruised.
"J...what did you do?" Bex asked.
"Don't worry about it, Its taken care of." Jason said. "Who wants ice cream?"
Bex and Chrissy looked back and forth at each other.
"Well I want ice cream so we're getting ice cream." Jason said and pulled out of the drive in lot.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day at school, everything that happened at the drive in, was already in the rumor mill, and when Luke showed up with a broken face, it only fueled the rumors. Bex was trying her best to just focus on her school work. She was in her favorite class which was the last class of the day,Math, with Mr. Jones, Bex was really good at Math, but that wasn't the reason it was her favorite. It was her favorite because she sat next to Eddie Munson, and she liked to listen to his conversations about the game he played with his club. Eddie was a brilliant storyteller, and Bex thought he would be a really good fantasy writer. A lot of the sketches she did were based off of characters he would talk about.
Bex was so interested in Eddie was talking about that when the Bell rang, it startled her and she yelped. Eddie turned to look at her.
"Did you just squeak like a little mouse?" Eddie smirked.
Bex blushed and looked down at her text book.
"Alright everyone, Homework tonight is Odds only, We'll go over the even problems in class tomorrow afternoon. Everyone have a good evening and I'll see you all tomorrow." Mr. Jones said as the classroom erupted with teenagers eager to go home.
"Actually, Miss Carver, Mr. Munson, I need to see you both for just a moment." He said.
Bex looked at Mr. Jones quizzically.
"No, Miss Carver, you aren't in trouble." He chuckled and sat on his desk as everyone else left.
"Eddie however.." He said and gave Eddie a disappointed stare.
Eddie shrunk back in his seat and Bex actually felt a little bad for him.
"Mr. Munson, I am determined to get you out of this school, and out of my hair this year. I've spoken with other teachers, and they say you are doing alright in their classes, not the best but..passing nonetheless. However your grade in my class will require drastic improvement if you hope to graduate this year."
"If you really wanted me out of your hair you could just..I don't know, give me an A...One might think you actually like having me in your class every year." Eddie said.
"One might be very wrong on that assumption." Mr. Jones smirked.
"I'm..sorry sir, what does any of this have to do with me? I have cheer practice I need to get to." Bex said.
"I was just getting to that." Mr. Jones said. "You are one of my best students. and that is why, I have appointed you, to be Eddies Tutor. He desperately needs help in this class and you are the only one I trust to take on the task."
"Oh. Um,...well okay." Bex said and looked at Eddie who was grinning ear to ear at her. She swallowed hard and turned back to Mr. Jones. "When?"
"Everyday that you find you have free time would be helpful. Are you okay with that?" Mr. Jones asked.
"Yes sir." Bex nodded.
"Excellent. I have my utmost faith in you Rebecca. I know with your help, Eddie will graduate this year."
Bex turned back to Eddie.
"Looks like my fate is in your hands Princess." He grinned and threw up his devil horns and stuck his tongue out at her.
Bex widened her eyes.
What the hell did I just get myself into? She thought.
