Personality/Skills:

Before being bitten, Scott was severely asthmatic, unpopular, and a 'benchwarmer' on the high school lacrosse team. However, once he was bitten and successfully turned, Scott developed superhuman strength, speed, agility, healing, and superhuman senses, along with the ability to shapeshift his features into that of a wolf. Despite the aggression and violence that comes with being a werewolf, Scott strives to embrace his humanity.

Backstory:

Scott was born to nurse Melissa McCall and FBI agent, Rafael McCall. Scott was afflicted with asthma from a young age, which only became more severe as he got older. When he was in elementary school, his father got drunk one night and got into a fight with Melissa, and when Scott came into the hall, he was grabbed by Rafael and forced back into his room. When Scott reflexively pulled away from him, he was accidentally pushed down the stairs, a fall which knocked him unconscious for twenty seconds or so.

Afterward, Scott didn't remember anything, but Melissa was so furious that she ordered Rafael out of the house. Rafael became so ashamed of the incident that, in time, he left completely. Though Scott lived with Rafael for a while at first, he eventually moved back in with his mother, after which Rafael discontinued his contact with both of them and moved to San Francisco to work at their FBI field office, an act for which Scott resented him until high school.

Being raised by a single mother for most of his childhood, Scott saw how hard Melissa worked to keep the household running, so when he was old enough, he started working as a veterinary technician at Dr. Deaton's animal clinic. Once he entered high school, Scott joined the lacrosse team with his long-time best friend, Stiles Stilinski, though they rarely ever saw a game due to their lack of athletic prowess.

Personality/Skills:

Stiles is sarcasm on legs, funny and outspoken. He is extremely clever and leads the way in working through many of the mysteries in Beacon Hills. At times, he gets frustrated that Scott's new abilities cast him as Robin to Scott's Batman, but he is a solid friend and loyal to a fault. While he has a typically combative parent/teenager relationship with his dad, Stiles loves him immensely, and often worries about his safety.

Backstory:

His birth name, Mieczyslaw, was his maternal grandfather's name. Young Stiles had difficulty pronouncing his name; the closest he ever came to it was "Mischief." His mother called him by that nickname, while the rest of the world called him "Stiles." Claudia Stilinski died when Stiles was very young. He was present when she passed and has never gotten over her death. For some reason, Stiles blames himself for it.

From the time Stiles was in 3rd grade, he has had a crush on fellow classmate, Lydia Martin. It is, for the most part, an unrequited love.

Personality/Skills:

Allison is kind, hard-working and critical. She struggles with her self-confidence and berates herself every time she feels helpless or weak. She is an accomplished archer and gymnast and knows nothing of her family's secret hunting of supernatural creatures... yet. Although she often rebels against her family, she cares deeply for them and would do anything for them.

Backstory:

Allison's family life is difficult. Her mother is given to fits of rage, her father is over-protective, and Allison has a bit of a rebellious streak. When they arrive in Beacon Hills, Allison becomes friends with Lydia Martin, Jackson Whittemore, Stiles Stilinski, and becomes romantically involved with Scott McCall.

Personality/Skills:

Lydia is manipulative with her friends, using them whenever it suits her ambitions. She is, on the surface at least, shallow and spoiled, but this turns out to be an elabourate act to hide the fact that she has a genius level IQ. She is well versed in chemistry and understands both classical and archaic Latin. The ruse, along with her relationship with Jackson Whittemore, is part of her carefully orchestrated plan to maintain her popularity at Beacon Hills High School. However, she harbours a real love for him.

Backstory:

Lydia's paternal grandmother, Lorraine, was a banshee who never knew about her abilities, leading everyone to believe she was insane and resulting in her being committed to Eichen House (the local insane asylum). Her and Lydia appeared to have a close relationship; she would read The Little Mermaid to Lydia and thought it was cute when she wanted to be called "Ariel." Sometime after Lorraine was committed, Lydia witnessed the aftermath of her grandmother drilling her head and yelling that 'they are coming.' Eventually, Lydia's parents filed for divorce.

Personality/Skills:

Jackson is the top athlete at Beacon Hills High School - at least, until Scott becomes especially talented at lacrosse. He sets incredibly high expectations of himself and strives to be the best at just about everything, though he tends to care more about his ego than being nice to anyone (except maybe Lydia and Allison). He is also curious and intuitive, especially when Scott is suddenly a threat to his athletic supremacy.

Backstory:

Jackson was born on June 15th, the day after his birth parents, Gordon and Margaret Miller, were killed in a car accident. His mother was apparently kept on life support long enough for the doctors to deliver Jackson via C-section. Jackson was then adopted by attourney David Whittemore and his wife. His father says Jackson hasn't said "I love you" since learning he was adopted, and that the circumstances of his parentage cause him to labour under self-imposed unrealistic expectations. His emotional and mental issues complicate things for him a little later...

Personality/Skills:

Derek's interests include doing chin-ups alone in his dilapidated house; brooding; and more recently, mentoring Scott McCall. His lack of income might explain his choice to skulk around in his old home instead of living in the city with the rest of Beacon Hills. Of course, he might also be making that choice because he's a werewolf...

Backstory:

Six years ago, Derek's family perished in flames during a mysterious house fire 6 years ago. Derek was born into a werewolf family. His mother, Talia, was much respected within the werewolf community, meaning Derek came into contact with a number of packs. He ans his family lived in Hale House in Beacon Hills, California, and he attended Beacon Hills High School. Derek's uncle (Peter Hale) claims that at fifteen, Derek conspired with an Alpha to have his then-girlfriend (Paige) bitten in the hopes of turning her into a werewolf. The process didn't take and, to end her suffering, Derek had to kill her. Having taken an innocent life, his eyes changed from yellow to blue.

Personality/Skills:

Chris Argent is Allison's over-protective, tough-as-nails dad, who also happens to be a werewolf hunter. Poor Scott. He can be seen using a wide assortment of anti-werewolf weapons and devices, from the bow-and-arrow to guns with magic bullets to traps. He is well versed in combat and tracking werewolves animals alike. Chris also possesses a wide range of knowledge and understanding about the variety of supernatural creatures in the world, due in part to the Argent Bestiary, which has been expanded throughout the centuries as the family has hunted new creatures and learned more about their powers, weaknesses, and behaviours.

Backstory:

Much of the Argent family history remains a mystery, but we know that they have been hunting werewolves for several generations, perhaps as long as 200 years. Despite acts of intimidation with Derek Hale and violence against Scott McCall, Chris has not actually killed a werewolf in the show. He was raised and trained in the Hunter lifestyle, along with his sister, Kate Argent, and grew up to be devoted to the Hunter Code, despite the fact that his father and sister only seem to follow the Code when it suits them.

Personality/Skills:

Since the men of the family are Hunters and the women leaders, Victoria Argent is in charge of who gets hunted in Beacon Hills. Aside from her role as a Hunter, she also held a job as a buyer for a San Francisco boutique and taught math at a boarding school for boys. Victoria has a rather cold disposition and experiences fits of rage. However, she cares about her family and for now seems to support Scott and Allison's relationship - at least more than Chris does.

Backstory:

In subsequent episodes, Victoria is shown only in the role of mother and housewife, but is deeply involved in the Argent family and Hunting.

Personality/Skills:

Katherine (Kate) Argent is a fierce and ruthless woman who takes immense pride in being a werewolf Hunter. She's darn good at it, too. By day, she is the loving aunt of Allison Argent, but by night she prefers to shoot first and ask questions later. She is cunning and manipulative, which becomes apparent when we discover that she had a relationship with Derek Hale prior to the series, but was only using him for her own malicious gain. She seems to harbour no remorse or sympathy for her actions, and does as she sees fit, even if it goes against the Hunter Code.

Backstory:

Kate is introduced when Chris Argent calls her into Beacon Hills to help him hunt down the Alpha that has been terrorising the town. Upon her arrival, she has some 'car trouble', which her brother helps her with. In fact, she encounters a werewolf (Derek Hale) and shoots it, but it is this instance that eventually raises Allison's suspicions about her family's secrets, as Chris and Kate give two different explanations for why Kate needed his help that night - neither of which explain the broken glass Allison finds on the car. Kate doesn't keep up the facade for long however and becomes an active part in helping Allison discover the Hunter way and the supernatural world.

Melissa is a very brave and understanding mother. She puts Scott first in her life and is there for him when he needs her - though that's not saying she gives him anything he wants. She is hard-working and intelligent, especially in matters regarding her healing occupation and life advice. Melissa can be strict with Scott, but then he usually deserves it.

Backstory:

A single mother, she supports her son by working as a nurse at Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital. She divorced her husband, Rafael, after an incident where he was drunk and Scott was injured.

Sheriff Noah Stilinski is a patient, caring and highly intellectual man and the devoted father of Stiles Stilinski. Noah is brave and selfless; he earned and takes great pride in his position as Sheriff of Beacon Hills. If he had known about the supernatural world earlier, I'm sure his job would have been a whole lot easier! Noah is good friends with Melissa McCall, and eventually becomes friends with Chris Argent and Derek Hale, and has some romantic feelings towards Lydia Martin's mother, Natalie Martin.

Backstory:

Noah Stilinski was born to Army engineer, Elias Stilinski and an unnamed mother. Elias was domestically abusive, and on many occasions, Noah had to step up to him in defense of his mother. Upon graduating from high school, Noah enlisted in the United States Army, where he served for an unknown length of time. Once his enlistment ended, he returned home and went to college, where he met and fell in love with Claudia Gajos, with whom he eventually married and had a son with. That son was Stiles.

After graduating from college, Noah became a Sheriff's deputy, where he worked his way up the ladder until he was ultimately elected as Sheriff of Beacon County. At some point in his marriage, Claudia was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a devastating illness that caused her numerous ailments such as insomnia, sleepwalking, delusions, and an inability to tell dreams from reality. Noah did everything he could to help her as her health deteriorated, patiently reorienting her when the delusions overwhelmed her, such as when she mistakenly believed that Stiles, who was then nine years old, was trying to kill her.

Throughout his career, Stilinski has witnessed countless events that he could not explain, and it isn't until Season 3 that he finally learns the truth about the supernatural world within Beacon Hills.

||Dr. Alan Deaton||

Personality/Skills:

Dr. Deaton is a very caring and wise man, an expert in his field (both as a vet and as a druid). He keeps his private life very private and prefers to help from afar. If he does help Scott against an adversary, he most likely won't be putting himself in the midst of the danger personally, but rather advise him and aid him as he can. He has a lot of faith in the young wolf and his friends and leaves them to all the 'action.'

Backstory:

Deaton is the former Druid Emissary to The Hale Family and had a very close relationship with Talia Hale. His reputation stretched far enough that The Argent Family knew of him. However, only Talia and eventually Laura Hale knew of his existence within the pack. Some time before her death, he made a promise to Talia that he would look after Derek. When Talia and most of The Hale Family died in the house fire, he "retired" from his supernatural duties. When Scott was bit, Deaton decided to help him adjust to his new life, without revealing too much about his own, and subsequently brought himself out of retirement.
