Brave New World

"I want to put the people who have had my back before anyone else."

I stood beside Elena. chipping away at my black fingernail polish as I listened to Bonnie talk about Katherine.

"Katherine looked just like you, it was freakish."

"Well," I drawled out, looking up from my nails. "–Elena is her doppelgänger slash descendant." I looked at Elena who looked slightly confused. "El, I moved the student booth into the cafeteria."

"Thanks." She sheepishly smiled at me.

"She' a vampire ancestor." Bonnie gave me a look then turned back to my oh so beautiful cousin. "She didn't just resemble you like a family member would. She was you."

"It's creepy, yeah, but there's nothing we can do about it."

"How do you know she's not still out there pretending to be you?" Bonnie asked Elena incredulously.

"I don't, we don't, but I could sit here and be tortured by the not–knowing or I could get these prices to the ring toss." Elena explained, grabbed a bag of stuffed animals and walked towards a booth, Bonnie and I following.

"Have either of you talk to Damon since he killed Jeremy or tried to kill Jeremy?" She asked, Giving us both expectant, worried looks.

"No." I deadpanned, my once happy-ish mood being demolished. "I won't ever speak to him again. He could've killed my cousin, also known as Elena's younger brother who is by the way, did I say younger?" I crossed my arms, glaring down at the ground.

"We're human Bonnie." Elena told our very sweet but very stubborn friend. "We need to do human things especially me, or else we go crazy."

"She's right." I agreed, nodding my head slowly as I looked at the mocha skin colored girl who was too pretty to even realize it. "I might've only been in this drama for two days, but it's starting to be too much already." I explained, biting my cheek. With this supernatural drama, me not seeing my twin, my best friend, my girl best friend aka Caroline being in the hospital, it was just too much for one girl to handle.

"I'm sorry I brought this all on you." Elena apologized, putting her hand on my arm for comfort.

"I'm the one that wanted to know everything so even if all this might be blowing up my brain, I need to push forward like the mighty girl I am and kick ass. Figuratively, obviously. It's not like Damon, Stefan or especially Elena would let me take on a vampire." I pouted slightly. "But oh well, at least my best girl friend will be getting out of the hospital today."

"Okay, back on topic." Bonnie gave me an amused look. "Sorry for bringing it up." She sent me a small apologetic smile. "Okay, let's focus. We have to make Caroline proud or she will kill us." She sighed. "I don't know how she does all this." She gestured to everything around us.

"It's because she's not human, obviously." I joked, my happy-ish mood coming back.

"Obviously."

We laughed.

"Stiles." I smiled hugely but it disappeared as it went straight to voicemail. I frowned and turned my phone off, putting it back into my pocket. "That's weird." I mumbled. "He always answers." I pushed my hair back out of my face and smiled falsely, following after Bonnie and Elena.

"The ring toss is out of Bart and Homer dolls and team Jacob tees." Bonnie informed both Elena and I.

"While we're on the topic." I spoke up, a smile coming to my face. "What team are you on? Team Jacob or team Edward?" I sighed dreamily. "Personally, i'm on team Jasper. Have you seen golden locks? Damn, I love boys with blonde hair."

"Spence, snap out of it." Elena chuckled at me, turning to Bonnie. "We'll grab some from the science lab. Also, we lost the speaker in the karaoke booth."

"Hey, all good, Elena. Look at your cousin, she looks content."

"For now." I blurted out. "Something is gonna wreck it. There's always something bad following the good. It's said you can't have good without a little bad, and vice versa." I explained, looking around at everything. "I'm gonna go get some cotton candy." I smiled at them. "See ya later biatches." I did a peace sign before walking away from them.

"Caroline?" I asked with a mouth full of blue cotton candy. Blue being my favorite color other than red. "Caroline!?" I ran forward, the cotton candy stick held in my hand tightly. I barreled right into my blonde best friend, my arms wrapping around her, the cotton candy only inches from her hair. "Caroline."

"Spencer? Oh, my god, SpinSpin." I chuckled at the awful but really unique nickname. "I missed you so much." I felt her breathe in and I felt her go rigid under my touch. I pulled back a little and looked at her face.

"Are you okay?" I asked her, worried.

"Y-yeah." Her face vamped out and I jumped back, stumbling over my feet, the cotton candy stick still in my hand. She quickly grabbed my face, tilting it and bit me. I struggled to scream as she held onto my neck, keeping me from being able to gain oxygen to my lungs. Without thinking, I plunged the cotton candy stick forward and hit her right in the stomach, sending her back in shock. "Oh, my god. I'm so-sorry." She vamped away before I could even say anything.

"Caroline's a vampire?" My hand flew to my mouth in shock. I then ran forward, to where I saw her blur off.

"Damon! No!" I yelled –holding onto my flesh wound – as I saw Damon raising a stake to Caroline back who had blood all over her face. I knew I wasn't gonna make it in time but what surprised me was when I saw Stefan grab the stake and push Damon back.

"Stefan!" Damon gritted out, angry.

"Get away from me!" Caroline yelled at Elena. "You killed me!"

"C-Caroline, that wasn't Elena." I shook my head, walking forward till I was beside my cousin who looked at me in worry. "Right?" I asked Elena who shook her head at me. "It was Katherine."

"No!" Caroline shook her head. "Then why did she look like you!?" Her voice cracked which brought tears to my eyes. The only other time I saw Caroline cry was when her dad left for another man. "Why? Why did she do this to me?" She pulled her jacket around herself.

"We've got to get her inside." I spoke out, my breath getting caught in my throat, as I realized that it was a sign of me wanting to have a panic attack. I swallowed the feeling, a lump forming in my throat. I had other things to worry about other than a panic attack.

"It's okay, Caroline, come with me." Stefan spoke calmly, walking towards Caroline.

"She'll die, it's only a matter of time." Damon spoke loudly.

"Not tonight, she's not." I told him, giving him a stern look.

"Oh yeah she is." He picked up the stake and rushed forward, almost staking her if it wasn't for me putting myself protectively in front of her.

"You touch one little blonde hair on her head and it's not gonna be Stefan you have to worry about." I leaned forward, getting up in his face. "It'll be me."

"Is that a threat?"

"No." I shook my head. "It's a promise."

"Whatever happens, smartie, it's on you." He shoved the stake onto my stomach, it falling to the ground thanks to me not catching it.

"Caroline?" I turned around to see Bonnie standing a few feet away.

"It's okay, come on." Stefan spoke softly to Caroline.

"No." Bonnie shook her head, horrified. "You're not, it – it can't be." She marched forward and grabbed Caroline's hand, fear washing on her face.

"Bonnie?" Caroline asked as Bonnie stepped back in slight disgust and shock.

"Oh, god!" Bonnie exclaimed as she saw the dead body that Caroline had drained and my neck. Stefan then drug Caroline into the bathroom.

"I can't believe this is happening." Bonnie said in disgust, tears falling down her face.

"Don't pout about it." Damon came around the corner with a shovel. As he put the shovel onto the truck's bed, he doubled over in pain, yelling out.

"Bonnie!" I yelled, wincing as I accidentally hit the bite mark on my neck. "Stop!" I was growing angry now. A hose moved and sprayed water near Damon who was on the ground now.

"I told you what would happen if anyone else got hurt." Bonnie glared at him.

"I didn't do it!" He cried out, holding his head.

"For once, it's not his fault!" I yelled out, glaring at Bonnie.

"Everything that happens is his fault." Bonnie told me which made steam blow out of my ears (figuratively).

"You listen here, little witch, and you listen good." I stood in front of Bonnie, stopping her from hurting Damon anymore. In the corner of my eye, I saw Elena run towards him. "You might be my friend but Caroline is my best friend. This whole head thingy with Damon is about her being a fucking vampire but do you wanna know what I have to say about it? It shouldn't matter who or what she is because she's still Caroline the same Caroline who likes to drink pink lemonade with pink frosting covered cupcakes. She's the same girl who hates rats and will completely scream if she were to see us wearing orange and blue together. So, here me loud and clear Bonnie, stop being a fucking bitch and go apologize to Caroline. Now." I breathed in deeply, pushed my hair out of my face before I walked away.

"Spencer!" I heard Bonnie yell my name but I kept marching forward, ignoring her calls for me.

How'd you like the little fight with Bonnie? I hope those who love Bonnie won't try to kill me or anything. Also, do you guys like Spencer's personality? Was she too mean or do you like her like this?
