vii. unexpected mission

Scared. That what Rosemary says about her feelings right now. She is nervous, meeting face to face with the two of her favorite celebrities is scary. You can't deny that. The younger Walters sat on the couch with her eyes meeting Tony's brown ones and pretending to be confident, with her head held up high and sharp eyes while her leg crossed the other. Rosemary couldn't help but feel uneasy.

Her father, Jason stared at the scene in front of him with a confused look. His daughter seems to be faking her manners, which he can see it through her eyes, even though she's trying to hide it with her sharp, challenging gazes. Taking a glimpse of the stunned boy before his eyes, Jason can feel how anxious his son is under the stares of the redheaded avenger

Thomas who kept staring at the two avengers before the very eyes of him, shook his head at the situation they get themselves into. He is excited but at the same time frightened as hell. While waiting for someone to start the talking, he made an eye contact with Natasha, and he can feel his heart beat faster than usual. Breaking it quickly, the older twin peeked at Natasha to see her still looking at him, which made him more nervous.

"Rosemary and Thomas Walters." Tony Stark started. "heard great things about you two, I'm not going to talk much, it's boring, so I'm going to cut to the chase, who the hell are you two?"

Shocking the Walters family, Jason choked on his water, while Rosemary and Thomas shared a look of surprise and then looked back at the two avengers in the presence of their eyes. Their father sat down the glass of water on the table next to him and slightly glared them.

"I'm sorry! you came to my house and tell my kids who are they? Why don't you tell me what the hell are you two doing here before I call the cops." He warned them. "Oh wait, I am a cop."

Natasha narrowed her eyes at him. "We mean no harm, Mr. Walters, and to answer your question, it seems that your children's safety will be going downhill if they don't keep their mouth shut."

"Pardon me?" Rosemary began. "We didn't say anything that will cross our safety line and whatever that Peter guy said to you all is bullshit."

Thomas slapped Rosemary on the back of her head and gave her a look at anger and 'are you stupid.' The younger Walters gazed up at the two avengers who smirked down at her.

"How did you know? One question, answer it and we will leave!" Natasha demand.

"Dad, can you leave us?" Thomas asked his father who looks at him weirdly. "Please?"

Jason, the second oldest in the room stood up from the couch. Eyes boring into the two guests. Walking outside the living room while concern feelings grow inside of him. But deep down inside he knows that no matter what happens, he doesn't really trust his kids with strangers, but they know how to handle every situation.

He trusts them and that's on good parenting.

After their father left, Thomas eyes them. He's nervous, not denying it. Clearing his throat, he opened his mouth to speak. "What do you really want to know?"

Tony who tried to keep his hold his burst of anger inside on his, spoke. "What we want for you to tell us how did you know about Peter? Even though you are new to this town and school, apparently you never met him."

"Your boy is clumsy as hell." Rosemary defended herself and her brother's action. "The day before school, midnight, me and Thomas went for a walk and we heard a scream—"

Thomas whose eyes flickered with confusion glanced at Rosemary before realizing what is she trying to say. Lying is the best answer apparently. Cutting her like always, the older twin took his time to tell them the lie Rosemary just made up.

"— And we both went to a dark ally and we saw a girl who's crying and screaming after someone... someone stole her bag. So we were going to talk to her but we heard a voice and hid before the wall, near the girl. Not far away."

Rosemary looked at her brother gratefully before continuing the lie. "As we were hiding. Your boy came. He helped the girl, brought her bag back to her, and then left. But—"

"Your boy Peter didn't leave." Thomas stopped dramatically. He smirked at them. "He stayed in his place and took off his mask. Which is wrong, but he probably thought he's alone. So, no blames to him."

Natasha and Tony shared a look of disbelief. While the redhead is having a hard time believing this, Tony glared at the boy, who kept his eyes sharp against his brown ones.

"This is how we know." Thomas tries to end the conversation but the realization hit him when he knew what question is going to be asked next. "This is why we confronted him. To tell him how stupid and unprofessional superhero he is."

"Don't you dar—"

Interrupting him, Natasha raised a question at the two mysterious teenagers who say on the couch before their very eyes. "Let's say that was the truth. Then explain this picture."

Handing them the picture of young Rosemary, posing behind the Avengers movie with a piece sign. The young Walters widen her eyes when she looked clearly into the picture.

"Why does this poster behind you look like us and how did you get it?" Tony Stark asked them with a tone that held clearness and suspicions. "And I know, one hundred percent sure that the story you just told us is made up. So how about we get this clear and talk like a grown-up, truthfully, so things could end up nicely."

When Tony finished his talk, both Rosemary and Thomas widen their eyes. Hearing Tony, the soft man talking like this, was a complete shock to them. But they both understand him, cause if they were on his shoes, they would get mad too.

"What do you want to know first? How do we know about spiderman? The movie? Or the poster behind me?" Rosemary gave them a question with hesitation.

Natasha and Tony smiled slightly in victory. "How about we begin with how do you know about spiderman? Then the rest will follow."
