Chapter 28 ~ The Reunited and The Disassembled
Craig POV:
"Come on!" I yelled at a red light.
I looked around me.
The street seemed deserted.
"Fuck it." I hit the gas and kept on going.
Today was NOT the day.
I didn't know how much time I had left; I didn't know if Tyler even got onto his last train yet.
I just kept driving as fast as I could.
I didn't know what else to do.
I zig-zagged through traffic, listening to the GPS.
If it was wrong, I would never see Tyler again.
But if it was right, I still had a small chance.
I sped up down a highway and turned onto a deserted side-road.
I told the GPS to give me all shortcuts, because to be honest, I really needed them right now.
My car drifted down the road to the train station.
I hit the breaks and jumped out of my car, leaving the door open.
"Tyler!" I yelled.
"Tyler!"
All around me, people stared, but I didn't have time for them.
"Tyler!!!"
I looked around a series of trains.
"Ty!? Tyler!"
I started panicking.
I finally saw one train in particular.
It looked as if it were going to leave.
"Tyler!" I said, breathing for air.
I was about to give up.
Tyler POV:
There it is.
My last stop.
I got off the train and prepared to board the next one.
I used the bathroom and lined up to board.
I sat down in the middle seat.
I looked out the window to the train station.
Families smiling and goofing around.
There were groups of friends smiling and laughing.
Couples were holding hands and walking by.
And I was all alone.
As the train was about to take off, I heard a familiar voice.
Someone was screaming my name.
I looked out my window.
I stood up out of my seat, (pushing the old lady now in the aisle away from me), and ran through the rows of crying babies, laughing teens, and scolding parents, pushing my way through.
He was right out there.
I hopped off the train and looked at the man before me.
"Thank god, Tyler, I love you." He said, grasping me in a hug.
"I missed you." I said.
"I missed you, too. You scared the hell out of me!" he said to me, tears running down his cheeks.
"I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking." I said.
He nodded.
"I can't believe you found me." I said.
He looked at me.
"I would search the world for you before I even thought about anything else." He laughed.
I smiled. "I love you."
"I love you, too."
He winked. I laughed.
"Let's just get home. Okay?" He asked.
I smiled.
"Okay, Mini."
Nicole POV:
I struggled to breathe.
I rocked back and forth.
There's no way this is happening!
I wanted to get up so bad.
I wanted to scream for help.
I wanted to call the police.
But I knew that, if I did that, things would turn out worst.
Luke had kneeled next to me.
He pulled me into his lap.
"Nicole... Nikki... Nicole... Answer me..." he stuttered.
"What?" I asked, breathing heavily.
My lungs burned.
I was scorching inside.
I felt as if I were drowning.
As if I were back in the tub, underwater, at our house.
Struggling to breath, burning from inside out...
It all made me feel so worthless and terrified.
"Nicole Fong!" Luke said.
I turned.
"Why did you scream?" he asked, shakily.
I quickly thought of a lie.
"My best friend..." I started.
He looked at me.
"She died last night."
"Oh..." he said.
"I'm so sorry." he rubbed my back.
I screamed inside.
My best friend hadn't died.
But he was going to.
Both of them would.
"I'm okay." I said.
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"Yes." I said.
"I love you." he said, holding my hand.
I looked at him.
"I love you, too."
He grabbed my face in his hands.
"Nicole?" he said.
"Yes?"
"I love you more."
I smiled, a tear running down my cheek.
"I highly doubt that."
He pulled me beside him as I began screaming internally.
