Saturday
Jaehyun sat alone in his room, sprawled across his bed with his phone forgotten beside him. The quiet of the evening wrapped around him, but his thoughts were far from peaceful.
Woonhak.
His mind had been circling the same topic for hours now, his heart tugging in two directions. They'd confessed. They liked each other. But what now? What were they? The question had been gnawing at him ever since that night.
Jaehyun wanted to be able to call Woonhak his boyfriend.
He wanted the certainty of it, the comfort of knowing they were truly something more than friends now. He wanted to hold Woonhak's hand without wondering if it was okay, to tell everyone around them, "Yeah, he's mine."
But how was he supposed to ask? The thought made his palms sweat and his chest tighten. What if Woonhak wasn't ready? What if Jaehyun ruined what they already had?
He groaned softly, running a hand through his hair as he sat up. "Come on, Jaehyun," he muttered to himself. "He likes you back. There's no reason to freak out about this."
Still, the nervous energy refused to leave. After pacing the room for a few minutes, Jaehyun stopped in front of his desk, staring at it as if it held the answer. Slowly, he pulled open a drawer and grabbed a small blue piece of paper.
Sitting down, he tapped the pen against the desk, trying to figure out what to say. It didn't have to be perfect -just honest. Finally, he started writing, the words flowing out quickly but carefully.
He stared at the note once he finished, his heart racing. It wasn't much, but it was direct. It was him.
Now the real challenge: where and when would he give it to Woonhak?
Jaehyun leaned back in his chair, chewing on his bottom lip as he thought it through. The park came to mind almost immediately. It was quiet, a place they'd been to together often, and it felt right.
With a deep breath, he folded the note carefully and tucked it into his pocket. He hesitated for another moment before pushing himself up and heading downstairs.
Woonhak was sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone with Japchae lying contentedly at his feet. He looked up when Jaehyun entered the room, and Jaehyun's heart gave a small leap.
"Hey, Woonie," Jaehyun said, trying to sound casual despite the way his pulse quickened. "Wanna go for a walk with Japchae? The weather's nice."
Woonhak tilted his head, a soft smile tugging at his lips. "Sure," he said, setting his phone down. "Let me grab my jacket."
As Woonhak moved to get ready, Jaehyun reached down to ruffle Japchae's fur, his nerves flaring up all over again. This was it. He was really going to do this.
And no matter how nervous he was, Jaehyun knew it would be worth it.
