to say mark was pissed would be an understatment. not only was he extremely mad, but he was also disapointed and hurt. donghyuck had lied about being sick to go home and facetime jaehyun? what were they taking about anyway? what did they even have to talk about?
mark would be lying if he didn't feel extreme jealousy over the whole mishap. sure, it might've been an impulsive way to act, but seeing dnghyuck talking to jaehyun who wasn't wearing a shirt, was the last straw. he had gone out of his way to buy medicine and care for donghyuck. yet, it seemed as if all of his actions were pointless.
he still remembered the sight of donghyuck lying on his bed in black shorts and a grey hoodie. his pretty tan legs and thighs were visible through the screen and he hated how jaehyun could see exactly what he could. he wanted donghyuck to be his private property, and definitely not some one else's.
when he had dropped the medicine, he remembered the sound of pills hitting eachother in their respective bottles. the rusting sound of plastic quickly dropping to the floor resonated in his head while donghyuck let out a small gasp.
donghyuck's eyes had scanned mark's face quickly before looking down at the bag that mark dropped so lifelessly onto the floor. the way donghyuck bit his plush, pink lips would've totally had him hooked in if he weren't so distracted by the scene that unwravled before him.
after mark had said those sentences that he regretted, donghyuck immediately hung up the call, muttering a quick apology to jaehyun. he recalled donghyuck jumping off his bed to be by his side as he tried to explain what was happening, but mark didn't want to hear it.
he wasn't having it. from what he could see, it looked like donghyuck skipped out on spending time with the dreamies for jaehyun of all people. the rest of their argument was a blur. they yelled at eachother. a lot. he remembered pushing donghyuck away from him, hurt flashing across the younger's eyes when he did so.
the sound of donghyuck's voice breaking. he remembered that clearly. at that point, he couldn't even look at him, it was too hard to see him in such a sad state. it hurt even worse knowing that he was the cause. not being able to stand it anymore, mark left the conversation, slamming the door behind him. he had left like a coward.
mark pulled out his phone and began playing music to clear his head. he didn't want to think about it as he had something more important to be focusing on. he relaxed back into his seat and closed his eyes, finding a strange sense of calm, but calm nonetheless.
donghyuck felt horrible. their comeback live was in a few hours and starting from the next day, they would be doing live shows to promote their new song. ever since mark walked in on him talking on the phone with jaehyun when he wasn't even slightly sick, the older had been ignoring him.
as they sat in the car on their way to the sm building, the tension was so high that it was almost inbearble. "can you pass me that?" jeno asked timidly, poiting towards a pack of jellies. he always ate them when he was anxious or uncomfortable. knowing that, donghyuck felt apologetic while he handed jeno what he asked for.
the rest of the members busied themselves with their phones. no one asked about what happened between mark and donghyuck. when they came home from a nice lunch meal smiling and laughing and obviously walked in on a heated argument. their happiness was interrupted by mark who slammed his and donghyuck's bedroom door shut and left the dorm.
ever since, everyone tried to bring up the mood, but nothing worked. leading them to give up and pretend that the situation had never happened. everyone, including the staff, refrained from interacting with mark. he was clearly still pissed off and he seemed distracted.
donghyuck, on the other hand, kept trying to talk to mark. he wanted to explain the full story but mark wouldn't listen. the brunette was pulled out of his thoughts when he got a notification from his phone.
he picked it up and checked mesages. 'what the fuck did u do now?', he recieved from jaemin. he turned in his seat to look at jaemin and he glared at him. 'i didn't do anything i swear. mark won't listen', he typed back. jaemin looked at him with an unconvinced stare so donghyuck ignored him, feeling frustrated that everyone thought that it was his fault when in reality, all mark had to do was listen.
"we're here," their drver said. the seven boys piled out of the car and headed inside the building. right as they were at the door, renjun, who was walking infront of the group, stopped walking and turned around. although they were confused by his actions, they stopped walking too.
"mark, haechan," he started and donghyuck groaned as mark kept quiet. "i don't know what's going on, but we're going to be live in front of thousands of czennies. can you please put this behind you for now and act civil at least in front of the staff and our fans?" donghyuck looked at mark who shrugged with an unamused face.
renjun rolled his eyes back at him, "mark, you're supposed to be our oldest. why are you acting immature?" jeno snickered but then quietly apologized after recieving a glare from jaemin. "i'm just kind of pissed off by someone's presence right now," he gritted out, making it painfully obvious that he was talking about donghyuck.
"that's not go-, ow!" jisung was interrupted by a punch on the shoulder from chenle. he rubbed the spot as renjun continued. "for czennie, can you please try to act like nothing happened?"
donghyuck felt insecure and uncomfortable as mark looked him up and down, as if he was deciding whether he wanted to play along for the fun of it. "fine," mark said. donghyuck shivered as he couldn't remember the last time mark was this mad. renjun appeared to be satisfied with mark's decision as he once again, began walking.
the brunette walked slowly behind everyone. he was really upset that no matter what he said, the members automatically assumed that he did something horrible. no one even listened to him try to explain the truth behind the heated situation.
"hyung," donghyuck snapped his head up at the sound of chenle's voice. "come on, we're going to be late."

the live had gone smoothly except for a few bumps in the road. luckily, mark and donghyuck's seats were on the opposite sides of the room, so they didn't have to worry about having a seating issue.
as the dreamies read the comments, they didn't fail to notice how people were commenting about mark and donghyuck acting weird. they chose to ignore those and tried their best to distract czennie with the fact that they were practically going through world war three just between mark and donghyuck.
the ride back to the dorms was painfully long and quiet. everyone stiffly got out of the cars and entered the elevator that once felt spacious, but now felt crammed and tight. no one spoke a word as they entered their respective rooms. donghyuck frowned when he saw mark taking his pillow, blanket, and a couple other items.
"what are you doing?" he asked. behind his back, his fingers were crossed as he hoped that mark would finally respond. he held his breath, begging that he wouldn't be met with silence again.
"to sleep on the couch."
donghyuck beamed when he heard a response but his smile quickly disappeared as he processed what the older had said. "you're going to sleep on the couch?" he asked. mark turned to look at him, belongings still in hand. "yes," he answered before leaving the room.
even though it wasn't the time, donghyuck couldn't help but be in a daze since mark finally looked at him and spoke to him for the first time since their big argument. with a huff, he was off his bed and walked down the hall in his favorite, soft, pajama's. he stopped when he was infront of the couch. "hyung," he whined to get mark's attention.
the ravenette was on his phone, ignoring the younger's presence. when he responded to donghyuck earlier, he wasn't calling a truce. he was simply putting aside his stubborness for a minute to answer him. he hated how he had a soft spot for him. as the brunette whined for him, he used everything in him to not pull him onto his chest and squeeze the life out of him.
"mark hyung, please listen to me," donghyuck stood closer to mark, waving his hands infront of mark's face. donghyuck pouted when he continued to get no response. "don't sleep on the couch because of me at least. if you don't want to sleep in the same room as me, i'll sleep on the couch," donghyuck was now standing at the edge of the couch where mark's feet were.
the longer donghyuck continued talking, the harder it was for mark to ignore him. to keep focus on what was most important, mark thought back on how just hours earlier, he had caught donghyuck on facetime with jaehyun after canceling on the dreamies. yeah, that definitely helped him stay in character.
"will you please stop ignoring me? at least say something, anything," donghyuck complained again. he breathed a sigh of relief when mark looked up at him. "i have nothing to say to you," mark stared.
"come on, it wasn't even a big deal!" donghyuck said, slowly growing tired of how petty and stubborn mark was being. "it was! you lied to me, to us!" mark argued. donghyuck groaned in frustration. "i told you, if you just listened once...," he looked at mark seriously. the older stood up from where he was lying down comfortably on the couch to stand and face donghyuck.
"whatever it was," mark took a step forward, causing donghyuck to take a small step backwards. "you didn't have to lie about it," he stepped forward again. donghyuck panicked and took another step back. "i did!" he tried to sound convincing despite how nervous he was from their proximity.
mark didn't let it slide as easily as donghyuck wished. "i always tell you that you can tell me anything. please, just tell me what it is," mark pulled at his hair in frustration. the candian didn't notice it, but everytime he opened his mouth, he would take a small step forward, and donghyuck would take a step back. while mark was completely unphased by it, donghyuck was melting inside.
"i-it was the pepero game," he finally managed to say, blurting it out. mark looked confused, "did i make you uncomfortable?" he asked. his once hard and cold expression melted immediately to a concerned one. donghyuck wasn't sure how to answer. mark didn't make him uncomfortable, it was more like he was on edge.
before the sunkissed male even had time to answer, he tripped over his own feet and fell on the couch behind him. through the fall, he yelped and grabbed onto the first thing in his grasp; mark. the two fell onto the couch, mark using his hands on either side of donghyuck's head to keep himself up without squashing him. he was inbetween donghyuck's legs, their faces centimeters apart.
the room was silent, the only sound being their heavy breathing. donghyuck assumed that mark would get off of him immediately, but he was far from right. mark admired the blushing male beneath them, looking at each pretty mole and trying to capture and memorize the moment.
"h-hyung?" donghyuck stuttered as mark slowly leaned down, closing his eyes. the younger found himself closing his eyes too as mark's breath fanned his lips. the space between them shrunk rapidly until their noses touched and their lips could've met with the smallest movement. each of them wanted eachother so badly. to feel the other's lips against their own. the space between them was so tempting.
"i won in the pepero game, do you really want to lose to me again?" mark asked in a low and husky voice, eyes still closed.
donghyuck didn't even get a chance to respond as mark crashed his lips against the younger's.
