It was a well known fact that Liam Payne of One Direction was bullied during school, and the bullying left a mark on him. People scare him now, but he wasn't scared of meeting fans or standing up for others of the media. He was scared of the people he had to work with, the people that made him seem small. Whether that be management, old friends, or occasionally Louis, Liam would freak out and run. The first time Liam met the boys of 5sos he mistook Michael's protective teasing over Luke for bullying causing him to be terrified of the teenager with colored hair even though everyone told him that  Micheal was just a giant teddy bear.
