Late the next day, Teddy, Victoire, Dominique, and Louis, were walking through the damaged ruins of the Hogwarts castle. They trailed slowly through the entrance hall and then the Great Hall. There, they met with Bill and Remus. Tonks and Fleur were milling about somewhere, but not in immediate vicinity. Baby Vic and Teddy were there too with their mothers.
"So," Remus said, "are you leaving today?"
"Yeah, we are. But first, we're waiting for a couple people to show up." Teddy said.
"When are they coming?" Bill asked.
"Anytime now. Haven't got much of a more accurate guess than that."
"Then Bill can take the time to meet his kids." Remus laughed. "I'm going to go talk to Tonks and baby Teddy. " He walked off in the direction of his wife and son. He greeted them with a quick hug.
"I'll let you get acquainted as well." Teddy smiled. "I'm going to... I don't know. I'll be around though."
"Bill, this is Dominique and Louis Weasley." Victoire said. "Or for short, Dom and Lou."
"Nice to meet you." Bill said awkwardly. "I- I'm Bill."
"Hi." Louis mulled around.
"We don't have to do this." Dom said "We saw you yesterday, we don't need you to awkwardly say hello."
"That's probably for the best." Bill nodded curtly.
"Uh, why don't you two go and talk to Teddy. Ask him to show you some of the traps he set up with George and Fred yesterday."
"Yeah, sure." Louis muttered.
"Sorry about that." Vic sighed.
"No, no worries. I'm sure they love me just fine after I raise them." Bill forced a laugh. "I'm a stranger to them now. I just happen to be wearing their dad's face."
"We won't be here much longer."
"I know." The conversation halted there. Nothing much else to say. They had said it all already. Or would say it in the very least. Bill could say whatever he wanted to baby Vic. She would be around for the next 17 years and beyond.
George turned up not 15 minutes later. He was stressed and antsy. He went straight to Victoire.
"He's coming, right? You promise he's coming?" He demanded of her.
"George, I cast the spell myself. Anytime now, I promise." She gave him a hug. "Don't you worry."
"I just- I'm scared." he said. "What if he doesn't show up."
"George, that won't happen-"
"What if he doesn't show up!" he demanded again.
"I don't know." Vic admit quietly. "If he doesn't show up, he might be in some other time... or..."
"Don't say it." George snapped.
"I'm sorry."
With the sun setting, the two rescued were nowhere to be seen. Their hopes were really falling. George's heart was breaking. The Weasleys were all huddled in a group. They were all crying. They had lost all their hope. The poor family. Remus wasn't doing any better. Ron, Ginny, Percy, and Charlie weren't quite aware of the entire situation, but they knew Fred was missing and there was a possibility he would show up that day.
Teddy and the time travelling Weasleys were in their own clump. They refused to leave until the day was over or the rescuees had showed up. With time ticking on... nothing.
With five minutes to midnight, Teddy got up. They weren't going to show up. They had failed. Again. But this time it was worse because they had built up everyone's hope.
"It's time to go." Teddy said. "They aren't coming."
Just at that moment, two figures appeared out of thin air. They stood for a moment before falling to their feet. Molly cried out in surprise. Everyone in attendance, the Weasleys, the Lupins, and a few other stragglers who showed up for Castle repairs, rushed forward. George got there first.
Sure enough, it was Fred and Sirius.
They did it! Victoire and Teddy had finally save a life. And two lives at that! After failure, after failure, two people were alive and well and for the long run.
After a few hugs and a few 'Thank God you're alive!'s, Vic cornered Fred (and George who refused to leave his twin's side).
"What did you do?" she asked him.
"I should ask you the same thing." the prankster replied.
"You know what I mean." Vic sighed. "I survived the exact thing that should have killed you."
"Simple long lasting protection spell." Fred shrugged. "Did the trick I see."
"Not quite." Vic mocked anger. She raised her bandaged and damaged hand. "You could have done a better job."
"Yeah, well you could've too." George countered. "You didn't have to make us all worry for a day and a half."
"Oh, so I have to respond to the both of you?" Vic smirked. "Oh, right, I forgot, you're the same person."
"Get out of here!" Fred playfully shoved her.
"Aw c'mon! You're gonna miss me." She mocked, I know you are. Well, if you miss me too bad, you can just go see your oldest brother. He's got a mini version of me that you can hang out with."
"Bye Victoire." they said together. They hugged and they parted ways.
Teddy went to see Sirius. "I'm glad you're alive, mate." he smiled. "There was about two years where we didn't think so."
"Has it really been two years?" Sirius wiped his forehead. "And Harry? How's Harry?"
"How much have people told you about your missing time?" Vic danced around the subject.
"Not too much," Sirius admit "Remus did tell me that there was a Battle. Yesterday, he said?"
"Yeah." Teddy nodded. "Harry was shaken up pretty bad. He's alright, he's alive, just... not in the right place of mind."
"What do you mean?" Sirius demanded. "Where's Harry?"
"I don't know." the time traveller admit. "Hermione was by earlier. She saw him the latest. He stayed at the Burrow last night, but he left shortly after Hermione did. Didn't tell anywhere where he was going, but Hermione seems to think he's either going to Grimmauld Place, or to Privet Drive."
"I have to go see him!" Sirius said. "He needs me. He's needed me for two years." his voice dropped to a whisper. "I can't go can I. Still a wanted criminal."
"You can go." Teddy told him happily. "You're name was cleared when Peter Pettigrew was found dead earlier this year."
"I've been cleared?" Sirius sank to his knees. "I've been cleared. I'm a free man. I'm an alive, free, man."
"Goodbye Sirius." Teddy said. "And make sure that friend of yours takes care of that cute kid. What was his name again? Oh right. Teddy. Make sure he takes care of Teddy."
"O' course." Sirius laughed. He was still in shock as Ted walked away.
Dom and Lou were waiting nearby. Vic and Ted hugged the two of them.
"Let's go home." They smiled. As they muttered the words of the time travel spell for the final time, the four time traveller were whisked away and taken back to the 21st century, ready to see what awaited them for their new lives.
