THREE

I'm mundane, I'm mundane, I'm mundane.

If you can't be normal, at least pretend to do it. Do it for Alec, he doesn't know about all the crazy stuff in the world.

Normal.

Cassie didn't remember how old she was when she met Alec, or how, exactly. But her memory wasn't the best, it never had, it didn't remember the important things, like doctor appointments, birthdays, and going shopping for clothes, but it always remembered the things she wanted to forget.

"Cas."

"Alec." She answered with a small smile. Alec seemed to have adopted her for better or worse, even if sometimes he acted weird as hell. Like the time when he insisted he had an archery course and that was exactly why she'd found him pale-faced, bow in hand, and arrow drawn at the empty air. "How's it going with school?"

The boy shrugged. "Jonathan's being a pain. Anna's being a pain. Everyone's being a pain. Especially the cat." He finished darkly, reminding Cassia why he was a little ray of sunshine. She elbowed him, and he grinned. "Okay, it's decent. Happy? We went on a field trip, Anna started listening to 1989 by Taylor Swift with Jonathan-"

"Sounds like the end of the world."

"-Isabelle discovered this TV show, what was it called... Pretty Little Liars?" Alec tilted his head, looking a bit confused. "She's glued to the screen now, can't talk with her. She only gets up if she's got to eat or go at the bath. Or scream at someone for unplugging the TV."

Cassia nodded. "Definitely the end of the world."
