FOUR
Lorelai Chryseos was called a lot of things. A bitch, for one. Nobody seemed to like her the way they liked her sister, and honestly, Lor couldn't care any less. A phone addict, which she brushed off as paranoid, everyone spent too much time on their phones. And maybe a traitor, if you were the wrong person at the right time to see her kill.
She could still remember the words that the gray-eyed woman had told her. Her gaze as sharp as knives. She won't know because she might recover. You, on the other hand, will not.
It was unfair. Cassia was older than Lorelai, and yet, it wasn't Cassie who was out hunting murderous demons like some sort of superheroine.
Superheroine. Lorelai almost snorted. Killing demons and hunting weird stuff, anyone would think that she was John Constantine or something, but Lorelai never felt weaker after killing a demon. It was only a matter of time before she got rusty enough to make a mistake, or the demon was stronger than her.
She won't know because she might recover. She's the perfect, golden child in the golden family. So why make her the golden girl without the memory of what her sister had done to her?
It had been simple for them, with both of their parents vanishing, and their older brother's death. Put Lorelai on trial, she'll be proven guilty of helping the 'dead' enemy, and then get carted off into the Gard or the Silent City.
But Cassia refused, denying Lor's involvement, and eventually, after so many battles with the gray-eyed woman, before she finally agreed to compromise by sending both of them out of the Shadowhunter world, and right into the heart of the Mundane world.
That was probably the nicest thing anyone had done for Lor, and she felt pretty bad because of it. Cassia didn't know the whole truth, and if she did, she might have let Lorelai rot in jail for the rest of her days.
