2. New Team?

One day before

"You will all be brought to justice"
yelled Robin, tackling a thug to the floor. Damian continued to fight, even though there were at least fifteen other men and he was all by himself. He was on his nightly patrol, and he ran into some men running a child trafficking import. They were working for Black Skull. Damian felt rage build inside of him, as he continued to fight all the men. These people had been abducting children and selling them to foreign countries, just to make some cash!

Suddenly, a man ran behind Damian and held a knife. Robin's eyes widened, as he prepared for the pain he was going to feel.

Gunshot

The pain never came, and the man was dead on the floor. About thirty seconds later, the rest of the men were dead on the floor. Damian only knew one man who used guns to bring justice.

"Todd," grumbled Damian.

"Your welcome, demon spawn," said
Red Hood, jumping from a nearby roof.

"I don't need your help, criminal," spat Robin.

"Just shut up, demon," said Red Hood.

They than began to free all the children that were currently kept in crates. Most of them were ten or eleven, so they all started crying. Seeing a masked boy and a man holding two guns was not helping at all.

"Quiet children. We have come to rescue you," said Robin, trying his best to reassure them. Robin felt movement in the corner of his eye and he turned around. One of the thugs had been pretending to be dead and shot up with a gun in his hand.

"-Tt-, do you think you can take me and Red Hood," said Robin, charging at him.

"I know I don't have a chance hurting you physically, but I know you hero types. I know where it hurts the most," said the thug.

Gunshot

One of the twenty children dropped dead on the floor.

"No," whispered Robin. He stopped running. Red Hood was immediately filled with anger, he was about to shoot the man, but Robin interrupted him.

"He's mine."

Robin charged at the man, with everything he had.

"Hahhahahahah. Told you, where it hurts the most," said the thug, while he was laughing.

"Psychos like you don't even deserve death," yelled Robin. He reached the man and started to aggressively punch and kick him. This lasted for at least five minutes, until the man had probably cracked all his ribs, had lost most of his teeth, and was unconscious with a pool of blood around him.

"Robin, stop," said Red Hood.

Robin looked in horror at what he had done. The man was definitely gonna be crippled for life. Damian looked scared
at first, but then returned to his usual poker face.

"You don't get to judge me, Todd! You kill all the time."

"I kill because Gotham is better with these scum off the streets, I don't kill for vengeance."

"I did what was necessary."

"Well, try saying that to Batman. He is going to be pissed..."

Back to Present Day
At the Batcave
"How many times have I told you Damian, 'justice, not vengeance'," yelled Batman.

"Well that miscreant had it coming," replied Damian, coolly.

"That man is on life support because of your reckless actions," yelled Bruce.

"THAT MAN MURDERED A CHILD IN FRONT OF MY EYES. I DON'T CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO HIM," yelled Damian. He finally exploded.

"I'm sorry that you had to witness that Damian, but that doesn't change anything. We are the protectors of Gotham, we are not the law. We are not the judge, jury, or executioner. That is up to the police," said Bruce, calming down.

"Let's agree to disagree, father. And if I may add, why is Todd not in trouble? If I recall, he shot most of the thugs," said Damian, also calming down.

The entire time Bruce and Damian were arguing, Jason was just casually leaning on the wall and smoking.

"Woah, woah, woah. Don't drag me into this, demon spawn," said Jason, putting his hands up in surrender.

Bruce scrunched his eyebrows and gave Jason the bat-glare and Jason just glared at him back, unfazed.

"You told me you were working on it Jason," said Bruce.

"I don't have to listen to you, old man," said Jason. Damian started to cough because of all the smoke in the room from Jason's cigarette.

"And what have I told you about smoking?" questioned Bruce.

"Yah, yah, I know. Never smoke in the Batcave," said Jason.

"Yes, but I want you to quit," said Bruce, annoyed.

"You both have forced me to make this decision. I had already been thinking about this for a long time though, a little after that incident when the Teen Titans saved Earth from Trigon and stopped the Justice League," continued Bruce.

Damian raised an eyebrow. It had been about a year since he had teamed up with the Teen Titans. He had many great adventures with them, but in the end, Robin always stays with Batman. He didn't really stay in contact with any of the other members, except for Raven. He stayed in contact for a couple months, but Raven told him that she needed to take some time to herself to "sort her life". That probably meant she wanted to mediate to try to find a way to completely destroy her father. She broke all communication after that. Damian felt hurt by that, but didn't really know why. He figured it was probably his lack of friends. Currently, his only friends were Titus, his dog, and Jon, Superman's son. Jon annoyed the heck out of him a lot, but Damian liked to hang out with him. So basically, Titus, Jon, and Raven were his only friends.

"I want you two to join a team. A team with young heroes like yourselves," said Bruce, breaking Damian's thoughts.

"Hell no. There is no way that I am joining a social club with little kids that need help," yelled Jason

"I agree with Todd, for once. I am not joining a group of underaged imbeciles," said Damian.

"You do realize that you are younger than most people on the team, right?" questioned Bruce.

"-Tt-, what I lack in age is what I make up for in experience," said Damian.

Bruce sighed. "You guys don't have a choice, your becoming to reckless. Until you can prove that you are ready to go solo, you will stay on the team."

"No, father. I don't want be on this team," said Damian.

"I second that," yelled Jason.

"Guys, don't think so low of your new team. They saved the entire Earth from the Reach apocalypse while the main members of the Justice League, including myself, were on a different planet. And Damian, shortly after you left the Teen Titans, Starfire left to her home world and when she came back, she joined up with Jason and Red Arrow to make the Outlaws. When she left, the whole team fell apart. Raven's location is unknown but Blue Beetle and Beast Boy joined the Young Justice team. And Jason, you do realize that I have enough evidence to put 98% of your men behind bars," said Bruce.

"You wouldn't," huffed Jason.

"You can try me," said Bruce.

Jason knew that Bruce wasn't kidding, he would put most of Jason's men behind bars. And if Jason didn't have his men to operate, his whole crime status would be lost, and Black Skull would beat the Red Hood.

"Fine," grumbled Jason.

"You may have leverage on Todd, but you have nothing on me," said Damian.

"I am your father Damian, I know what is best. I don't want you to be like you mother and grandfather. I don't want you to be a killing machine," said Bruce, softly.

That struck a nerve. There was that time when Damian made a deal with Talon, a Court of Owls' assassin. Damian thought that he wanted to kill, but still couldn't bring himself to do it. When the Court betrayed him, Damian's desire to kill almost cost his father's life. Damian would never forgive himself for that. He did not want to end up like Talon, a killing machine, without a moral compass.

"Fine," grumbled Damian.

"Also, Nightwing and Red Robin are members the team," said Bruce.

"Seriously, Tim and Dick are on the team?" questioned Jason.

"Great, now I have to deal with Grayson, Todd, and Drake," grumbled Damian.

"And under no circumstance, unless absolutely necessary, may you reveal your identities. So no calling your brothers, me, or Barbara by their first or last name. I don't care if they know that you are brothers or that I am your father. But, no real identities," said Bruce.

"Bruce, Fuuccc-"

"Language Master Jason, Master Damian is only 14," said Alfred, walking in.

"I am old enough to hear Todd's profanity," huffed Damian.

"One last thing, take these," said Bruce. He opened a random drawer and pulled out two pairs of sunglasses.

"-Tt-, sunglasses?" questioned Damian.

"It's for when you want to hang out with your team, in civilian clothes. They can't see your whole face with these," said Bruce, he handed them each a pair.

"What makes you think I wanna hang out with the team, outside of missions?" snorted Jason.

"There is never time to 'hang out', there is only time for training and missions," said Damian. "I'll be in my room."

"Me too," yelled Jason, fuming away. Damian followed behind him.

Bruce sighed. "Was I this difficult to raise, Alfred?"

"You definitely were hard to crack, Master Bruce, but you did have you moments," said Alfred.

Bruce chuckled.

"Master Bruce, is Master Jason's and Master Damian's aggression the only reason you want them on the team," questioned Alfred.

"I can never let anything slip past you Alfred," said Bruce. "I think it would benefit both my sons greatly if they could socialize with people that they could relate too," said Bruce.

"So, you want them to make friends?" asked Alfred.

"Yes, basically."

"Thought so."
