One Month Earlier
"It is good to have you back, Nightwing."
"It's good to be back, Kaldur."
Nightwing walked around the mountain, remembering the cave, back when Wally was still alive.
"I know you needed time to mourn Wally's death, I did too," said Kaldur.
"I-I still don't understand, but I have come to terms with Wally's death. It looks like you've done a good job here," said Nightwing.
"I insist that you take the mantle of leader back," replied Kaldur.
"You were always better Kaldur, we both know that. Wally knew that too," said Nightwing.
"Come old friend, the rest of the team wishes to see you after 10 months," said Kaldur, smiling.

        Both men walked to the living room and the whole team was waiting. Blue Beetle, Kid Flash, Red Robin, Wonder Girl, Miss Martian, Superboy, Static, Beast Boy, Batgirl and La'gaan. Both Bumblebee and Gaurdian had joined the Justice League, together. And Artemis, or Tigress now, was solo. She sometimes helped the team, but she was a lone wolf now. Tigress was feared among all black market industries, she put a stop to all illegal drug and human trafficking trade. Everyone had tried to convince Artemis to join the team, but Artemis needed to be alone, the team brought too many memories of Wally.

      Kid Flash broke the silence by speeding up to Nightwing and hugging him. Nightwing was surprised, but hugged him.
"This is so crash! Your finally back Nightwing! We all missed you," said Bart. He pulled back from the hug while Nighwting smiled.
"It is-crash, to be back," replied Nightwing.
"It's good to have you back, hermano," said Jaime.
"Welcome back, Nightwing," yelled Cassie.
"You are an honorable teammate, welcome back," said La'gaan.
"We missed you. I made cookies for all of us," said Megan, giving Nightwing a hug.
"Hey, welcome back," said Conner, with a small smile.
"Dude, your finally back," yelled Garfield, hugging Nightwing.

     Nightwing then walked up to Red Robin. He wasn't sure what to do, but Tim hugged him. Dick whispered in Tim's ear.
"I'm sorry for leaving."
"I forgive you. Please don't ever do that again. I don't know what I would do without you."
"I didn't know you cared, Red Robin."
"Are you kidding? When I first became Robin, you never stopped believing in me, so I never stopped believing that you would come back," whispered Tim.
"Thank you, frățior."
"What does that mean, in Romanian?" questioned Tim.
"It means, little brother," replied Nightwing.
"I love you, Nightwing, you're the best older brother anyone could ever have," said Tim.
"Awwwww, I love you too, little brother." They hugged for what seemed like an hour.
"Okay, hate to ruin the moment but, what the heck dudes! You're brothers!" yelled Beast Boy.
"Like real brothers, and Nightwing's Romanian, that's so crash!" yelled Kid Flash.
     Bart Allen, he knew every superhero's identity. Everyone agreed that Bart knowing everyone's identity was too dangerous. It was an invasion of privacy and if a villain got a hold of Bart, then the whole League would be screwed. So they had Miss Martian erase the parts of Bart's mind that knew everyone's alter egos. They also had to erase a little of Beast Boy's mind because he knew Nightwing's and Red Robin's identity from the time that Bart first came to the present.
"We're both adopted, but that doesn't matter," said Nightwing, smiling.
"So your adopted brothers and Nightwing is Romanian, noted," said Beast Boy.
"We are so getting closer to your real identities," said Kid Flash.
"You wish," replied Red Robin.

      Dick noticed Batgirl sulking in the corner, he made his way to her. She seemed angry and upset.
"What's wrong, Batgirl?" questioned Nightwing.
"Nothing's wrong," replied Batgirl.
"I know you well enough to know that your mad," said Nightwing.
"Sunt supărat pentru că ai plecat! Ai plecat de la echipă, m-ai părăsit. Ești un idiot, idiot drăguț, dar nimic ce spui sau faci va face să te iert(I'm mad because you left! You left the team, you left me. You're an idiot, a cute idiot, but nothing you say or do will make me forgive you!)," yelled Batgirl, in Romanian. Tears began to form in her eyes.
"Îmi pare rău, eu sunt un idiot. Dar tu ai înțeles, te rog. Nu știu ce m-aș face fără tine. Vă rugăm să nu plânge, vei face să plâng(I'm sorry, I am an idiot. But you have understand, please. I don't know what I would do without you. Please don't cry, you'll make me cry)," said Nightwing. Tears were beginning to form in his eyes too.
"Niciodată nu lăsați din nou, nu voi fi capabil să-l ia(Never leave again, I won't be able to take it)," sobbed Batgirl. Nightwing pulled her into a hug and began to cry with her.
"Te iubesc, Batgirl(I love you, Batgirl)," whispered Nightwing.
"I love you too, Nightwing," whispered Batgirl.
     They didn't care that the whole team was watching. They both had crushes on each other from the day that they met. They had been best friends through thick and thin, but they had finally admitted their feelings for each other. Dick held Barbra's chin and pulled her in for a kiss. It was long and passionate. Nothing had ever felt so right in either of their lives.
"Ok, ok, there are kids here, let's keep this PG," said Garfield, interrupting the kiss.
"Yah, we don't need any baby bats running around hermanos," said Jaime.
Everyone laughed, including Conner, while Dick and Barbra blushed madly.

      Jaime turned to look at Bart's happy face. For some reason, whenever Bart smiled, his whole world lit up.
Jaime Reyes, the Bart has triggered an unknown chemical reaction in your body. Best course of action, terminate him with your plasma gun.
"Scarab, I am not terminating anyone!" yelled Jaime. Everyone gave him questioning looks.
"Sorry, scarab issues," muttered Jaime.
"It's alright her-man-o, your scarab is probably just not feeling the mode," said Bart smiling.
Jaime smiled back. He loved Bart's smile. It made him want to smile along and pretend that nothing bad existed. Jaime thought back to all those nights when Bart was not his peppy, usual self.
Flash Back to a Couple Months Before
It was 11:30, P.M. The team had just arrived from a mission. It was pretty simple, they were just investigating this new drug. It was simply supposed to be a stealth mission to figure out who the sellers were, but Kid Flash ended up tripping and the recon mission turned into an all out fight. Of course, they ended up winning and they figured out that Penguin was the original creator of the drug, but now Penguin knew that they were onto him. Everyone was happy with their victory, except for Bart.
Jaime Reyes, the Bart's excitement levels are drastically lower than usual. Something unusual has happened to the Bart. Recommended course of action, plasma gun.
"Would you shut up scarab," muttered Jaime. Bart did seem low, but Jaime didn't want to pry.
"I'm gonna go head back to Barry's," said Kid Flash.
"Are you sure Bart, we have chicken whizzies," said Cassie.
"Yes, we can all celebrate our victory as a team," said Aqualad.
"Nah, it's ok. It's almost 12, Barry is gonna be pissed," said Bart. He then used the Zeta Beam to teleport home.
Jaime thought to himself. Bart never ever passed up chicken whizzies, no matter what. He decided that he needed to help his best friend out.
"I should go too, my family will get suspicious. I'll take some to-go though," said Jaime.

He grabbed a pack and he secretly zeta tubed to Central City. He had been to Bart's house many times, so he knew where it was. He flew there and armored down. Jaime then knocked on the door. An old woman opened the door.
"Um-hi. I'm Bart's friend, Jaime. Is he home?" asked Jaime.
"Yes he is, he seemed kind of sad. It's a good thing your here, Jaime Reyes," said the woman.
"How do you know who I am?" questioned Jaime.
"Oh Bart talks about you all the time," said the woman. This made Jaime feel happy inside.
"Thanks," said Jaime, he walked to Bart's room. What he saw shocked him.

Bart was curled up in a ball on his bed, sobbing. He hadn't even noticed Jaime enter.
"Hermano-"
"Jaime?"
Bart quickly tried to wipe away his tears.
"What's wrong Bart?" asked Jaime.
"Nothing, everything's fine," said Bart, with a fake smile. Jaime sat on the bed next to Jaime and grabbed his hand.
"Hermano, tell me what happened," said Jaime.
"No. It's fine, you can leave," said Bart, trying to hold in his sobs, but failing.
"I'm not going anywhere Bart," said Jaime, squeezing his hand.
"You can tell me anything."
"Fine, Jaime. I'm not good enough," sobbed Bart.
"For what?"
"To be Kid Flash. It's all my fault, if I wasn't so cocky, if I had just slowed down, Wally would be alive. I can't live up to his legacy. Who am
I fooling? I don't deserve this. I'm just a fraud," sobbed Bart. Jaime pulled the smaller boy into a hug.
"Bart, you are more than worthy of being Kid Flash. You can't keep thinking about the 'ifs'. I'm sure Wally would be proud of the Kid Flash you are today. The whole team is proud of you, I'm proud of you. Don't think anything different," said Jaime.
"But, I was so moded today," cried Bart.
"Everyone makes mistakes, hermano," said Jaime.
"Thank Jaime."
"Your welcome hermano. I got us some chicken whizzies," said Jaime, smilingly. Bart smiled back.
End of Flashback
That was just the first time that ha happened. Whenever Bart screwed something up, Jaime was always there to cheer him up. They were an inseparable, they were always there to brighten each other's days.
Artemis's P.O.V.
"Tell your boss that the next time I catch one of his men around here, there will be a knife in his heart," yelled Tigress.
"Yes ma'm," said the man, nervously. He then ran away.

Artemis was just patrolling the docks for any illegal shipments. She then spotted some men of a nearby crime boss trying to smuggle some drugs. After Wally's death, she wanted to be alone. Megan, Conner, Kaldur, Nightwing, they reminded her too much of Wally.
     She visited his grave every other day. Of course the grave didn't have a body, but she loved to pretend that he was listening to her. She was now cold, distant, icy. She sometimes met up with the team, but other than that, didn't really ever interact with anyone else. Well, except her mom and sister.
"Wow that was pretty cold, sister."
"Cheshire," said Tigress.
"Hey sis, just wanted to see how you were doing," said Cheshire.
"You already checked on me last week," said Huntress.
"Yah I know, and I was wondering if you could keep the baby, pretty please."
"Ugh. Fine, are you and Roy going on a mission or something."
"Actually, no. He's taking me out on a real date."
"Wow, no crime fighting?" questioned Tigress.
"Yup. Just both of us going to a fancy restaurant," said Cheshire. She then handed Artemis the baby.
"Make sure to put her to bed at 8:30. Oh, and no milk, I think she's lactose intolerant," yelled Cheshire, walking away.
"Ok, it's just me and you," grumbled Artemis.

She began to think of the life she could have had with Wally. After they finished college, they could have settled down, gotten married, had kids. Of course they would be speedster kids, but it was the life she wanted, the life she lost.

Meanwhile, Roy and Jade finally had a dinner to themselves.
"You took care of the baby, right?"
"Yes Roy, she's with my sister."
"We didn't leave the iron on, right?"
"No, I saw you turn it off."
"What about the stove?" questioned Roy. He was nervous, it was the first time in a long time that he and his wife had a night to themselves.
"It's fun seeing you so nervous, Mr. Harper," said Jade.
"I'm not nervous, Mrs. Harper," said Roy, smirking.
"I like that name," said Jade. She then stood up, grabbed his tie, and yanked him up. She pulled his tie closer and kissed him.

They were the best of the best. Red Arrow and Cheshire. The King and his Queen. They worked all the odd cases. Like disappearing kids and homeless people being abducted. Roy had convinced Jade to turn into a hero-ish. They still sometimes stole, but they needed the money. They were raising a kid!

This was just a chapter to catch up on everything. The next one will have Damian and Jason and actually start the story.
