I am a creature that needs a pack, but I am no longer in my birth pack. I placed my bag down on the forest floor, and pulled out athletic tape to cover my hands. I took a fighting stance in front of the semi thick tree in front of me, I started to punch it hard. Letting out my aggression, I didn't see the tree I saw him, standing there with that smirk on his face that I use to love. I hit harder and faster, making chucks of the tree fall to the forest floor. I would have kept going until the tree fell over, but I heard a howl for help. I placed my tape back in my bag and ran in the direction of the howl, without thinking.

Once I caught the scents of the other wolves and a bear, I dropped my bag, shifting and attacked the bear without hesitation. I bit into it's side hard, digging my claws into the bear's soft underbelly. I jumped back, using his body as footing, before he could land a claw on me. He roared at me and I roared right back at him. He swiped at me but I lowered my body then jumped digging my teeth in his arm, I swung my body up letting go of his arm then pushed my hind legs off his injured arm sunk my teeth into his throat. I locked my jaw as I saw him try to swipe at me with his good arm. I heard thunder like footsteps getting close to where I am. I should kill this bear fast and leave, with that thought in mind. I jerked my head, ripping it's throat out, I spat it out and watched as the bear died. I felt a pull at my soul, so I turned my head looking at the clearly warriors wolves that arrived, then my eyes landed on an alpha wolf. He's large and black furred, he is proud.

I wanted to run as he started to walk over to me, like a predator closing in on it's prey. Not out of fear, but I wasn't ready to meet my mate yet. He will try to dominate me, make me submit to him, I could tell from the way he looked at me. I hate that look, I took a defensive stance and licked the bear's blood off my muzzle. I will fight him tooth and claw for dominance mate or now. He barked at me, telling me to stay where I am. I wanted to growl, I wanted to run, but I remembered my mother's words, "If you want respect you give respect, my pup".

I sat on the grass thinking, If I did ran, he would chase me or have his warriors get me. He might imprison me for trespassing on his territory. Sitting and waiting seemed like the smartest choice. I watched as he attended to the scared females, that would've died or been badly injured if I hadn't come when I did. He is a caring alpha, my wolf purred in approval. He told his warriors and those girls to leave, it's just us now. What if I had every intention of killing him? Did he underestimate me, because I'm a female? Of course he did, every male in this world does. He surprised me by shifting, I kept my eyes on his. No way would I look at his body and make this pull to him stronger than it already is. Maybe he is an understanding alpha as well, would he let me leave without a problem if I told him I was just passing through?

I shifted and stood on my two legs, staring into his blue eyes. I was glad he is taking this stare down as a challenge, the first to look away, loses. Alphas hate to lose. He walked closer to me, reaching for my cheek, maybe to caress it. I took a step back, touching would make this pull stronger as well, no way am I letting that happen without a fight. He growled at me in warning as he tried again to touch me. I let out my own warning growl as I moved away from him. I changed my stance showing him, that I will fight him, if need be.

"Tell me, what are you doing on my territory?", He asked me, his deep smooth voice sent a shiver down my spine, I hid the shiver well.

"I was just passing through, I mean no disrespect", I told him politely, thankful that he's not a bite first ask questions later, kind of alpha.

"You protected my pack members, you have my thanks", He spoke just as politely as I did.

He extended his hand for me to shake, I moved my hands behind my back and said, "Them being safe, is enough".

I relaxed my pose to a neutral stance again, but I angled myself away from him slightly as I said, "I should be going".

"Please, stay", He said as he angled his body, ready to chase me down if I start running, "I'm sure they would like to thank you properly".

He's trapping me, banking on the assumption I am a good person. I let out a breath, and clenched my fists, as I put on a small smile, "how could I refuse".

"I am Jace Cooper", He introduced himself giving me a charming smile.

"I am Nevaeh Wallace", I told him my name in exchange, I didn't want to be rude now.

"Nevaeh", He said my name as if seeing how it felt leaving his mouth, I liked the sound of him saying my name too much and the warmth that washed over my body.

"Stay close, I'll take you to the pack house", He told me as he turned and shifted back into his wolf form.

I blew out a breath and shifted into my wolf form as well. He started to run to his pack house and I inhaled his scent deeply, imprinting the scent in my mind. It deepened the pull between us, a part of me accepting him as my mate, but that's not why I did it. I needed to know his scent because I needed to grab my bag before following his lead. I ran back to where my bag sat in the woods. I carefully grabbed the straps in my teeth and chased after his scent, glad for the extra exercise. I took in the sights and sounds and smells around me as I ran. I tried to ignore his scent, because it did things to my body that I wasn't ready for. Once I got the scent of where the pack house is, I out ran the alpha, beating him to the house by a nose.
