17- Talking Out Feelings
Evan's POV:
I was on my laptop in my old bed at my real home. All ready to go to sleep, for I was already in my pjs and had a blanket over me. I was just about to play a game when I get a call. It's from Fabian.
I was really tired at this time mainly because of the travel and the welcoming "party" my mom always throws. I hesitated with the answer but I eventually did it.
"Hello...?" I say. Why did I say it like a question...?
"Hey Evan! We just wanted to check up on you! Hope you got home safely!" Fabian said to me.
"How's it been going, E?" RJ asked me.
"Hope you're safe!" Luciel smiled brightly.
"Evan, please try to enjoy it all the while!" Addison told me.
"Thanks guys. I really needed that." I reply quietly, since it was late and I was tired.
"How's your mom and dad...?" Luciel asked me.
"Mom's been doing good and Dad is.......doing good too." I lied to them. I'm not able tell them the truth. Who knows, I might not be able to go back to school because of Dad.
"Well, that's great!"
"Evan, look at this mammal! It's so weird yet so cute!" Addison held up a book with a picture of a red panda on it and held it up to the camera, blocking out basically anything else. The guys yelled out either a 'hey!' or an 'Addison!'. I held a hand over my mouth to keep me from laughing out loud. But when Addison was pulled down by Luciel, I became my usual self again.
"Yeah, Addison got obsessed with red pandas. My fault really." Luciel scratched the back of his neck.
"I mean how could I not? Look at it!" Addison shoved the book in front of Luciel's face. This time, I actually burst out laughing at Luciel's face as he tried to back away. Realizing how late it was I had to stop.
"Woah, you've never laughed like that in.... so long! Guess being back home helped lighten you up." RJ pointed out.
"Probably. So anything new happening?" I say.
"Well, not really. But Silvester did come here earlier, something about Addison's powers not being completely gone. Yeeaaah, can't really make sense."
"Wait... what?" I said.
"Basically, my powers aren't completely gone. Which is probably why I am able to sense when you use them and why I am able to help out or give a boost to your powers."
I take a moment to take this all in. It is late after all. After about a minute or so, I slowly nodded.
"Ok, so basically if X arrives, you can substitute for me."
"Well, I could, but it's not that easy, my power is probably already used to being in your body and it's too weak in my own. I'd probably only be able to change forms for a few minutes at a time." Addison thought about it. We started talking about random things for a while. But then I let out a big yawn.
"You okay, bro? You look like you're dead inside." RJ said.
"Well, it's been a long day." I admitted.
"We'll give you some rest. See you on Monday!" Addison smiled brightly. Everyone else said goodnight or goodbye before the call ended. I let out a sigh of relief. Truth was a part of me didn't want to go back.
_____
I wake up to a tickling sensation on my nose. My eyes shot open and in front of me was a big ball of white and cream fluff. I sit up a bit, resting on my elbows. I blinked a few times to shake the sleepiness for it was early. In front of me was a cream and white Holland lop bunny.
"Hey, Panda." Yup, that's my rabbit's name. Let's just say that I used to have my own obsessions when I was little before I got a rabbit.
I, still in my pajamas, walk downstairs to where my mom was cooking. I always try to tell her that I can cook for her, but she never wants me to.
I tell her good morning, then she turns around and smiles her warm smile.
"Anything new happening at school? It is an elite school after all, so something must have been going on." My mom asks me this every time I come to visit. She sets down some breakfast down, which is udon.
"Er.....not much." I lied. There really was a lot going on. Like Cory's return, Silvester's hate, and the hero thing.
"So Banī, how have your friends been?" She asked.
"Good."
"What about your roommate."
Shoot! How did she not forget?
"Oh uh she's alright I guess." I said quietly.
"She...?" Mom raised and eyebrows quite amused.
That's when I choked. I started spluttering and coughing, trying to get back to normal.
"Your roommate is a girl?" Mom asked me trying to look natural.
"Honestly I have no idea why she's my roommate. There were plenty of other dorms she could have stayed in. But instead she gets my dorm and messes with my life." I say, my mom looks at me surprised. I realized that I was raising my voice so I tensed up and looked down at my unfinished breakfast.
"Gomen'nasai, I just really needed to vent."
"And that's okay. You're at least learning to talk out your feelings. Now come on, I need to go get some things on the way to visit your father."
