15- Treat Yourself
"Ok now put that there." Cory told Addison. She glued down a picture down on the poster. Addison was now in history working on the poster with Cory. Even though she was happy to be working with him, she had a lot going through her mind at that moment. She sighed out loud in frustration. Cory noticed this sudden change in personality.
"Hey are you okay?" He asked her. Addi just shrugged.
"I don't know, this morning has been all messed up." She had admitted.
"Do you want to talk about it...?"
"Well it's a long story.....but in short, I'm basically stressed out." Addison slammed her face on the desk, not caring about the stacks of pictures on it as they flew off of the desk and onto the floor.
"Well, how about this: since we've been working hard on this project, why not go treat ourselves." Cory suggested.
"Treat ourselves?" Addison asked, getting into the idea.
"Yeah, you know, like, getting away from it all."
"That......actually sounds nice." Addison said. Right then, the bell rang.
"Well, I guess it's settled. I'll pick you up after lunch at your dorm." Cory said. Addison grinned happily.
_____
At lunch, Addison couldn't stop grinning like an idiot. She'd push around her food on her tray, making little C's and A's in her mashed potatoes before covering it up so that no one saw.
"So, Addison, how have you been after what happened this morning?" Fabian asked, wiping himself with a napkin neatly. Addison was distracted and jolted to reality, realizing he had asked her a question.
"Huh? O-oh that. It's still nagging me at the back of my head honestly. I'm probably just overreacting since so much has been going on but I'm um going to go out after lunch to have some time to myself. You know....?" Addison told a white lie. The guys obviously knew something else was going on, but for the sake of their friend, they didn't question it. Soon enough, the bell rang, school was over.
"See you guys later!" Addison ran to her dorm to see Cory already there. The butterflies started fluttering. Her face heating up with every step closer.
Calm down, Addi this isn't a date! Right?
"You ready to go?" Cory asked. Addison just nodded not being able to speak. The two walked away the other direction so that Evan didn't see them when going to the dorm.
"So any place you want to go to in particular?"
"Um n-no, I haven't gone out much s-since I uh got here." Addison stuttered aimlessly.
"You're even more nervous than I am." He chuckled. Addison just pulled on the collar of her hoodie, feeling hot all of a sudden.
"Well, let's go!" Cory tugged on Addison's sleeve and made her follow him outside the school. They walk out of the school.
"So any food allergies?" Cory asked as he looked up restaurants in the area.
"Well, not really. But well.....I'm lactose intolerant." Addison answered.
"Really? Well, that blocks out a lot of options...." Cory added a filter to the search.
"Oh my vlork! I'm so sorry!"
"Addison, it's okay. You can't help it. We'll just have to be careful of what we order." Cory told her. Addison just fiddled around with the
"Wait, what do you mean by 'oh my vlork'?"
"Oh! Um it's just.....a saying that I use a lot...?" Addison winced waiting for Cory's response. Cory had stood there processing what she had just said. It felt like an eternity for her.
"'Kay, cool?" Was all he said, giving a weird expression to Addison.
"Hey, did you hear there are new super heroes here? Supposedly there was a robot attacking downtown and they just came out of nowhere! Everyone's calling them Mystery Heroes, because we really don't know anything about them." Cory told her. Addison knew the truth about it. But if the people here thought that they were superheroes, she'd had to keep her identity hidden.
"Really? I did not know that." Addison played it off. Cory kept talking on and on about the heroes while Addison agreed to his statements, obviously wanting to talk about something else.
"Well anyway, we're here!" Addison needed a desperate change of subject.
"Well then, let's go in." Cory opened the door for her.
Meanwhile in some nearby bushes in front of the restaurant's wibdows, the other boys were hiding. Evan was looking outside into the small restaurant with binoculars.
"Evan, why are we here again?" RJ asked, bored out if his mind.
"Because." Evan replied and continued to look.
"Because what?" RJ asked.
"Because I don't like Cory, Baka." Evan sighed in annoyance and looked into the window.
"Or you like Addi..." RJ mumbled.
"What was that?" Evan growled.
"Geez sorry you can't take a joke." RJ crossed his arms.
"I don't mean to come off as rude, but you used to not want anything to do with her. Yet, now you seem really close to her." Luciel told him, taking a branch out of his hair.
"As far as I remember, I've never liked someone that way, period. Besides we're just friends who happen to be roommates."
"Uh huh, sure." RJ gave out a faint smirk.
"Now let me watch them!"
"As much as I like that we're spying on Addison, what exactly do you hate about Cory that made you want to follow them on their date?" Fabian asked Evan.
"That's classified and it's not a date, they're not dressed up or holding hands or anything!" Evan gritted their teeth.
"Wow, you really don't know how dates work...." Fabian shook his head.
"Damare...." Evan hissed at them.
"Woah, you don't use that word often. Is Cory really that much of a problem for you?" Fabian asked.
"What part of 'damare' don't you understand?" Evan eyes narrowed and looked straight at the guys. They all looked back at him before looking away, not being able to handle Evan's glare.
Evan then continued to look through the window. It was a casual restaurant. Nothing too fancy. He watched the table where Addison and Cory were sitting. Addison blushing and laughing at Cory's cheesy jokes. He noticed the smile on their teammate's face. So pearly white and cheerful and admiringly. Perfect in Evan's eyes. Truth was, Evan saw lots of flaws in himself and looking at other people, he saw so much perfection. He turned away though, not wanting to see the so-called flawless people.
She's never had a smile like that around us. What does she see in him? I warned her not to mess around with him. She's going to get her heart broken sooner or later. Tsk, serves her right.
Evan looked back up not before backing away from the window and pushed everyone back into the bush when he noticed that Addison and Cory got up from their table.
"Hey what gives?!" RJ whispered-screamed. Evan held a finger to his mouth and pointed towards the entry way. Addison and Cory walked out laughing carefree.
"I can't believe you actually said that!" Addison said in between laughed.
"Well, I needed to do something." Cory smiled.
"Well, it's getting late, I better get back soon before Evan gets suspicious." Addison looked towards the sky, stars starting to show up as the sun went down.
"Mind if I walk you?" Cory offered. Addison smiled, the two soon walking away towards the school.
"Evan.....we need to get you back. Now." Luciel urged them to get out of the bush. Well, more like fall out.
"C'mon, we need to get going." RJ grabbed Evan's hand, running at a fast speed, lucky for it being late and not having a lot of people out.
Eventually, they got past Addison and went ahead into the school, virtually nothing from the speed. RJ halted to a stop at Evan's dorm, causing Evan to crash into the door and have his hair messed up from the high speeds.
"C'mon, open the door!" RJ urged, trying to speed up Evan's process. Evan fumbled around with his pockets. He took out the key and inserted it into lock, turning it and opening the door.
"Go, pretend you were here the whole time, and hurry!" RJ ran away from the doorway, closing it. Evan rushing to get undressed and into his sleepwear. He tried to fix his hair the best he could, but gave up and jumped into bed, just as he heard the doorknob turn.
Evan pulled the sheets over himself and tried his best to control his fast breathing. Addison walked in giggling, with a skip in every step.
She collapsed on her bed, looking up at the ceiling, not before grabbing her pillow over her face and squealing into it and kicking her feet. Evan pretended to wake up from this.
"Wha-.....Addison? What are you doing?" Evan "yawned".
"Oops sorry, didn't mean to wake you up. I was kinda just.....screaming into my pillow." Addison gestured to the pillow on her lap, for she was now sitting crisscrossed.
"So I'm guessing you had fun."
"Yeah! I really did." Addison played around with her drawstrings on her hoodie.
"Must've been something huh?" Evan raised an eyebrow.
"Yup." Addison smiled. A moment of silence passed by the two, not knowing what else to say.
"Well, I'm pretty beat, goodnight." Evan turned the other way, now facing the wall and trying his best to sleep that night.
He was up all night....
