The reason I'm writing Tipping Point here instead of Menagerie is because Menagerie was a Blake/Sun focused episode with nothing else, other than a tease of Tyrian at the end. So no, Menagerie will not be in this book. As much as we all want to see Kali "Best Girl" Belladonna in this book, it's just not happening yet.

It was a cloudy day on the road to Mistral, and RNJRS was following a mossy stone tile path through the wilderness. While walking, Nora stretched her arms up wide.

"Another day, another adventure!" Nora said with glee.

After it had become obvious that Skyler was actually the one most trusted with the map (since Jaune had needlessly dropped it when they had reached what remained of Shion), Skyler was reading the map and guiding the group while Ruby and Ren continued alongside them, Jaune not far behind.

"What's on the agenda today?" Ruby asked.

"Walking!" Skyler said with fake enthusiasm.

"With a side of...?" Nora asked.

"Walking," Ren answered.

Ruby sighed, "Haven is a lot farther away than I thought."

"Ruby?" Ren asked, "How long did you think this journey was going to take?"

"I don't know!" Ruby exclaimed, "I grew up in a small area; I've never been this far away from home!"

"Right but... how long?" Jaune questioned, wanting specifics.

"Maybe like, uh... two weeks?"

Skyler looked up from the map to stare at her incredulously, "What?!"

"Okay, fine! Three or something!" Ruby shouted, then not making eye contact with anyone, "Look, whatever."

Ruby looked up again after a beat and noticed something ahead, "Hey, what's that?"

Nora jumped onto a slightly fallen post of a fence to get a closer look at a wall and building ahead.

"That's... strange," Skyler muttered, checking the map, "I didn't think we'd be hitting another village for a few days."

"Are those buildings... damaged?" Nora said, shocking everyone.

Jaune's eyes widened, "We should search for survivors!"

Skyler tucked the map into his duster pocket and all five of them started running into the village, with Nora leaping onto the wall and to a rooftop from there. When they got in, RNJRS discovered that the town was completely empty. Ruby lifted a fallen plank of wood to find only plants outgrowth underneath.

"Anything?" Ruby called out

"Nothing over here!" Nora replied.

"No one over here, either!" Jaune answered.

It almost seems like... the town was abandoned," Ren observed.

"Yeah, mid-construction too," Skyler agreed, "These buildings aren't just damaged, they're incomplete... What the heck happened here?"

"Hey, I think I found something!" Nora called out

Everyone turned and rushed over. Nora moved the ivy growing over a sign to the side to read what it says, revealing the town's name.

"Oniyuri?" Nora read, "Never heard of it."

"Me neither," Jaune replied.

"I have," Ren responded.

The other four looked at him, surprise on their faces as Ren continued, "You might think of it as Mountain Glenn if it never been completed. Years ago, the richest members of Mistral were unhappy with how the Kingdom was being run. Frustrated with the council, they pooled their resources together to build their own city in East Anima, with their own laws. They hoped that one day, it could maybe even become its own Kingdom. Many thought it would be the future."

Ren walked away from the others, "I know my parents did."

"What happened?" Ruby asked

Ren brushed some dirt off of the stone border of a low wall to reveal claw marks, "What always happens."

"The Grimm," Skyler finished with an angry look on his face.

Ren tightened his hands into fists, "Not just any, one."

Ruby briefly faced Nora in confusion, but Nora didn't move her concerned gaze away from Ren, so Ruby turned back to him, "One?"

Ren never answered. With that bright thought, the group was silent before Jaune spoke up.

"Come on," he said, "Let's just get through here. This place gives me the creeps."

"Agreed," Skyler replied, turning to leave along with the others.

Ren lingered for a moment for a few moments, seemingly in thought, but then followed. Ruby was the last to move as she looked over the empty village. Leaves blew through the air behind her after she followed her friends. As the five members of Team RNJRS continued out of Oniyuri, Ren suddenly stopped, sensing something. He put out his hand to stop his four friends, his eyes closing as he focused. Ren drew his weapon, and after seeing this, the others immediately followed suit. A man then suddenly leaped high over the wall to engage them in combat. He immediately took out his weapons in a seamless motion and, laughing eagerly, moved to attack Ruby.

Ren intervened first, StormFlower clashing with the claw blades. Ren attempted to both kick and shoot the man, but he dodged. The two had a couple more attacks and parries until the man kicked Ren several feet away and went after Ruby again, but was blocked again, this time by Skyler, who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere in the man's eyes, Kasai now locked in a clash with the claw blades. Skyler pulled the trigger on the hilt of his sword, causing an explosion of fire, pushing them both back. But before the leader of SHDW could react, the man already recovered, ran up to him, and knocked him away.

The man continued after Ruby, who rushed forward with Crescent Rose to meet him. The man used his blades to block the scythe and kicked Ruby backward, but she easily remained upright and they clashed again. But this time, the attacker managed to land a strike on Ruby's right arm, causing her to cry out at the pain and him to laugh. She's didn't break stride though, and leaped back to take a swing at him with her scythe, but he dodged and then landed a moving blow against the body of Crescent Rose, causing a red shimmer to cross her Aura in the area of the strike.

Jaune stepped in at that moment, but the man jumped onto his shield and propped himself up there, giving Jaune a crazy grin. Nora rushed in with Magnhild, but the man just leapt from Jaune's shield to her hammer and up through the top story of a narrow, rectangular building. Holding himself up with his feet on wooden frames to either side of him, the attacker looked down at Team RNJRS.

"We're not looking for a fight!" Jaune exclaimed.

"Who are you?" Skyler demanded.

The man leaned forward, grinning maniacally. He then dropped from the tower, did a front flip, and landed on his feet in front of them.

"Who I am matters not to you," the man pointed at Ren, then to Nora, "Or you. Or-"

He cut himself off, paused, and pointed two fingers at Jaune and Skyler, "Well... you two do interest me."

Jaune and Skyler looked to each other and back at the man with confused expressions before he continued, "No, I only matter... to you."

He pointed at Ruby, and the rest of RNJRS turned to look at her as she tilted her head in confusion, "Me?"

The man stared before breaking down into laughter, stuttering, "You-you haven't the slightest clue, do you?! Oh, how exciting this must be!!"

"What do you want?" Ruby asked harshly.

The man began acting dramatically in response to her tone of voice, putting a hand on his chest, "Oh! The rose has thorns! My little flower, I'm here to whisk you away with me!"

Nora stepped in front of Ruby, her hammer at the ready, "Well, what if she doesn't want to go with you?"

He stared for a moment with his lips scrunched up before answering with a deadpanned expression, "Well, I'll take her."

Skyler and Jaune walked over and stood between him and Ruby, Jaune's shield held out in front of him while Skyler aimed Kasai, "We're not going to let you do that."

The man closed his eyes and inhaled through his teeth. His eyes slowly opened, and he happily growled a single word with a dark grin.

"Good..."

Delighted that they're willing to fight, the man then zoomed and suddenly appeared behind the two, ready to attack Jaune.

Ren noticed him and shouted, "Jaune!"

He then deliberately shot Jaune's shield so that the ricochet hit the attacker, who covered his eyes with his arm and then cartwheeled onto Jaune's shield, using his claw blades to spin in the air against it. Skyler tried slashing him after swiftly turning Kasai into a blade, but he was deflected every single time and was just knocked back. Ruby stepped in once their opponent was beginning his descent, but he just kicked her to the side, and she regained her ground by using Crescent Rose to steady herself. Jaune took a swing with his sword, but the man simply dodged and kicked him away as well.

His next move was to run toward Nora, but from across the way, Skyler grinned as he quickly reloaded Kasai and fired a lightning bolt. It past just over Tyrian's left shoulder, and blasted Nora instead, the girl getting knocked down when the bolt made contact, dropping Magnhild in the process. Mistaking the move for an error on Skyler's part, the man gave Nora a baffled stare and laughed while the others simply watched and waited.

"Well," he said, smiling again, "If that isn't ironic!"

But then he noticed everyone else being unphased, and he sensed something was up and lost his mirth. With a determined, satisfied grin, a now upright and supercharged Nora rushed the man from behind, moving over his right shoulder and coming before him just in time to hit him with Magnhild. The blast from the contact had the others covering their eyes from the backwash of dust and air, Jaune actually taking cover behind his shield.

But then the air cleared to reveal the man was crouching, perfectly fine, using a now unveiled scorpion tail to block the hammer.

He giggled and curled his fingers at Nora, "Surprise!"

He kicked Nora twice in the face before leaping backward and upward onto a roof, leaving his coat behind.

"He's... a Faunus," Ren gasped.

"What is this about?!" Ruby demanded, "The White Fang?! Roman Torchwick?!"

"Plastic soldiers and pawns!" the man replied, "My heart and body belong only to our goddess."

Ruby narrowed her eyes as the guy spread out his arms at that last word, the girl muttering, "Cinder..."

The man snorted, "Only in her wildest dreams!!"

And with that, he leapt back into the fray, using his tail to knock Crescent Rose down. Though surprised, Ruby didn't lose her grip and they both attacked each other and missed until he kicked Ruby backward again, then using his tail to go after Ren before finally kicking him away and attacking Jaune next. The man kicked the blond back, and then Nora. Skyler slashed at him, managing to get in close with his Semblance, but was knocked back into Jaune all the same.

Without missing a beat, the man went after Ruby again. In quick succession, he delivered a right hook to her face and a left blow to her torso, causing red shimmers on her Aura on her head and chest respectively. He turned and swung his tail to knock her back into the air. She flew back several feet and he rushed forward to meet her before she landed. While Ruby was still in midair, the scorpion Faunus kicked her right in the abdomen, causing a large red shimmer over her abdomen and hips, her Aura now run dry as she tumbled across the ground.

The man approached Ruby on the ground and raised his stinger, his eyes turning dark purple. Nora (who was comforting a fallen Ren), Skyler, and Jaune, the latter two helping each other up, all looked on in horror.

~If only you could do something about this! Oh wait, you can! Let me fight!!~

'Shut up!!' Skyler thought angrily, 'Not now!!'

Laughing, the man was about to strike with his scorpion tail when a figure burst through a building and inserted himself between them, holding his weapon behind his back, a metallic noise ringing as the stinger hit against the weapon and clipped into the blade. Skyler's eyes widened in surprise, and finally relaxed with relief. Standing between the man and Ruby was Qrow Branwen, in all of his professional glory. Ruby and Qrow made eye contact and smiled at each other.

Qrow let out a chuckle, "Hey."

You have no idea how annoying it was to keep writing down descriptions for Tyrian without actually giving his name, considering he doesn't completely introduce himself to the group until "Punished". But thankfully, he gives his name next chapter, so I don't have to have the same problem there with the Qrow vs. Tyrian fight as I did here. Till next time guys!
