Chapter 8

Derek inspected his own suit. It was purple, with a large golden 'T' on the chest. It had long, dark purple boots, (which he supposed, matched with the mask.) It looked like a cheap store-bought suit, but it wasn't like he had time to complain.

"These suits are made for each of you. As you improve in your power usage, so will your suits." Avitaira explained hastily. "Just press the chest of your suit, and it'll transport itself to your body. Hurry!"

Deborah walked up to her outfit. It was an exact replica of Derek's but blue, and with a golden 'E' on the front instead. She hesitantly tapped the chest of her outfit, and her red flannel she was wearing was replaced with the plastic-y suit. Her clothes were left neatly on the mannequin.

She looked around to everyone else to find they all had had similar experiences: Chlera's hoodie and jeans were place neatly in place of her pink suit, which was on her now. She had a giant golden 'M' on her chest. Greg had a lemon yellow suit with a blue 'S' on his chest. Deborah grimaced. She hoped to God that these suits would get better.

"Well, where is Galy?" Deborah asked, her eyebrows raised. "And how are we going to get there?"

Avitaira flipped another switch, and the wall with their clothes and Galy's suit rolled up, only to roll down again to reveal a large garage. Inside was a bright yellow motorcycle, a purple helicopter, a pink car, and a blue...bike.

"Um, what-"

"She's at the power plant. Go, go, go!"

Chlera hopped into her car, Derek climbed into the helicopter, and Greg swung his leg over onto the motorcycle, and Deborah stood next to her bike, putting on her helmet. They felt the ground shift beneath them, and they went shooting upwards.

Galy was finally un-blindfolded. "Where am I?" she spat.

"Child, honey." said the voice from before. They had this way of speaking that felt like honey, slowly dripping onto everything else. (Well, if honey was mixed with gravel, that is.)

The voice's source-a woman,-came into Galy's view. She had waist-length hair in dredlocks that looked like coal. Her skin could have once been a pleasant chocolate brown, but it had been covered in ash. She had huge hips, and a heavy step.

"Honey, all we want is just a little bit of information, then we'll be sending you on your way." the woman said, her hips swaying. "We just want to know if you know a girl by the name of, ohhh, I don't know..." her eyes gleamed. "Avitaira."

Deborah's bike, as she was quickly finding out, could, in fact, break quite a few speeding laws. Seriously, what kind of 'perks' did Avitaira put on this thing!

She barely touched the pedal, and it would rocket forward several feet. She got to the powerplant nearly a full minute before everyone else. She surveyed Megam's city power plant, and nearly choked as the closet building started to drastically expand, like a balloon trying to escape from captivity.

"Never," was Galy's response. "I'll never tell you where she is!" The woman frowned.

"Say that again, young lady?" The woman seemed in disbelief, like she hadn't accounted for this part of the plan to go differently.

"I said, I'll never tell you!" Galy barked at her.

"Come closer, darling, and say that again." The woman said, a smile growing. Her teeth were coal-colored. "I want to hear you say that one last time before I kill you." Her teeth were glowing like hot coals.

That's when Galy started to expand like a hot air balloon.

"Where is she?" Greg asked, tossing off his helmet. Derek circled the area before landing on the nearby street. Chlera pulled in, her wheels squealing.

"She's in the shack over there-" Deborah started, pointing at the expanding building, before it burst open. A larger-than-life Galy stood before a woman who was starting to glow.

"GALY!" Deborah called, and Galy turned towards them. She started to deflate rapidly as she ran to them.

The woman, meanwhile, started to let lava and fire loose from her mouth.

"Holy sh-!" Greg's words were lost as Chlera screamed.

Deborah looked around wildly, her eyes landing on the pipes. "Greg!" she called. He looked at her curiously. "Drain power from the plant!" Greg grinned, and hurried to do as she said. "Derek! Throw stuff at the lava lady!"

"Got it!" he began using his mind to throw random items at her, which she burnt.

"It's not working!" Chlera yelled, eyes wide with terror.

"I know!" Deborah yelled back. She knelt down, and felt something deep down below before she gasped. "Chlera, Derek. Make a distraction. Me and Greg are going to get rid of this lady now."

"Well, what are we-" Derek began, before he was cut off by a giant BWOOOSHHH as Deborah called upon the water below.

"Greg! Are you ready?!" she screamed.

"Yes!" he shouted back. His hair was glowing and crackling with electricity.

"NOW!" Deborah shouted, and they both aimed their combined powers at the woman.

There was a terrible scream, and then nothing.

When the heroes could look again, all that was there was a pile of ash where the woman had been.

"That. Was crazy." Chlera said. "Let's never-"

"Let's always do that, you guys!!" Greg shouted. His hair was still static, and if possible, he was blonder. "Minus the whole Galy-getting-kidnapped thing. But let's always do that!!"

"Sorry, you guys." Galy said, looking down at the ground.

"Hey, it's okay, Galy. It happens to the best of us." Derek commented. "If you haven't gotten kidnapped, you haven't lived."

Galy playfully punched his arm as everyone burst into laughter.

While they were laughing, Chlera's car had been jacked.

"Oh, shoot. We're gonna have to tell Avi about that," Deborah commented.

"Avi?" Chlera asked, with an eyebrow raised.

"Yeah, Avi." Deborah replied. "But for now, I think you should just catch a lift on Derek's helicopter. Me and Galy'll come, too."

"So basically, everyone but me will be in the 'copter?" Greg asked, sighing.

"Well, if you want to-"

"Nah, I'm just teasing," he said, grinning. "See you all at the lab."

"It's y'all, you barbarian." Deborah said without thinking. Greg snorted, and he was off.

As Deborah and Galy helped Deborah's bike onto the helicopter, Chlera and Derek just talked.

"So...you don't mind if I catch a ride?" Chlera asked, head tilted like a puppy's.

"N-No, not at all," he stuttered. What the Hell, Levin?!

"Okay, thanks!" she said, and turned to the helicopter. "I call co-piolet!" to which the other two girls groaned.

What the heck happened? He thought. A second ago, she was Chlera Green. But then the light went in her hair, and now she was Chlera freaking Green.

Even though he was supposed to be ultra-smart with his super powers, it was crap when it came to girls.

Deborah and Galy sat in the back of the helicopter while Chlera and Derek sat up front. Galy had filled Deborah in on everything that had gone on since she was kidnapped. Deborah told briefly of what went on when they found out. After they were both done, they fell into a comfortable silence, before Deborah sighed. "If Derek looks at Chlera one more time, I swear we're going to crash."

Galy giggled. "Well, they'd make a cute couple."

"So..."

"So....what?"

"While we're on the subject, do you like anyone-?"

Galy sighed. "No, not really. No one really talks to me enough to have any real...connection."

"Oh."

"Yeah."

"Well, than," Deborah said, crossing her arms. "That won't do. I'm your friend from now on."

Galy smiled so wide, she thought she might crack.
