Girl #4 •Water•
Alice Angel Butterfly paced the large library located underground. It was her only safe place. The ceiling shook as monsters celebrated in the tavern above. She whimpered softly and focused on her spells. And her science. She was trying to combine the two.
She dipped an unicorn horn into Mercury. She yelped and stumbled back as the mixture boiled over. The table melted under the mixture. Alice sighed as the table collapsed and an all too familiar voice yelled at her from above.
"BUTTERFLY! KEEP IT DOWN OR ELSE!" The person holding her captive yelled. Liv Ludo. Great great granddaughter of Ludo. She held Alice captive, hoping she would be able to succeed at what Ludo wasn't able to complete. Alice nodded. "Yes mistress!" She looked down at her failed attempt at freedom. If the horn had melted just slightly, Alice could've bended it into a key shape.
Alice sighed again. She would be a slave forever. She couldn't depend on her family. Katherine was nowhere. And plus, that little brat hates me, Alice thought.
Of course she would. You tried to kill her future lover. The Pines and Butterfly's never should have mixed. They make demon spawns like Katherine. Why can't I have a family member who doesn't hate me?
Suddenly, screams were heard from upstairs. Boots pounded on the stairs. Alice quickly covered her attempt at freedom and stood there with her hands behind her back. The door slammed open to reveal a badly bruised and bloodied up Evelyn.
"Why hello dearest family member. Would you like to see the light of day again?" Evelyn snickered and sneered. Something was off with her. She didn't have a pinch of emotion in her eyes.
Oh no... That could only mean one thing... DeGraff got to her...
Alice shuddered slightly. "I know you aren't the actual Evelyn I remember. What happened?" Her voice cracked slightly. It showed that she was afraid. Evelyn laughed softly. "Nothing. I just found the love of my life. And we had a powerful child. That doesn't mean anything changed."
Alice was inching towards a bookshelf. Evelyn didn't notice. She was preoccupied on studying the library. "Wow. They kept you here? It's a perfect prison.." She looked down at Alice just in time to catch a smile bomb directly in the eyes. Evelyn screamed and stumbled back into the wall.
Taking this opportunity, Alice dashed out of the underground library. She ran faster and faster once she got out into the light of day again. She ran fast she stumbled and about puked her guts up on the concrete sidewalk.
When she was finally a good distance away, she slowed her pace and collapsed onto the ground. And her eyes shut.
When Alice woke up, she was lying on a bed, surrounded by boos. At first she panicked, thinking everything that happened was just a dream, and she was still locked below ground.
A girl's voice comforted her and a hand gently pushed her back down. "Shh... It's alright. You're lucky we found you. My girl here, Isabella, saw you running. Seems you dehydrated yourself to the brink of death. We were worried about you for a minute."
The voice belonged to a girl about Alice's age, (17) with blond hair a electric blue eyes. And the other girl, Isabella, had iridescent eyes with pale blonde hair. "Hello." Isabella said and waved a bit. The first girl was frowning at Alice. "I'm Sabre. Sabre Ross."
At her name, Alice gasped and fell out of the bed. Sabre's head popped over the side to stare at Alice. "Are you quite alright miss...?"
Alice shook her head. "Ohmygods... I'm Alice Butterfly..." She sat there in denial. So Katherine and Luke...had a child.... Alice thought, tears pricking her eyes. Isabella gently tugged on Sabre's arm. "C'mon Sabre. We should give her some space and time to think." Sabre nodded and they stepped out.
Alice hyperventilated. "She doesn't know who I am to her.. Yet... Phew... I need to study some of these books.." She noticed they were Spellbooks and grabbed one.
Alice opened it and sat there reading. She didn't noticed water dropping into her hair until it spilled over into her arms. And yet...
The water formed a huge, perfect droplet.
Alice gasped, and looked at it. She noticed one side was pointer than the others. It pointed north. She got up and snuck out of the library and out of the house. She looked up at noticed where she was heading.
The Old Cathedral. The town's ghost attraction. Why was the water leading me here? WHY AM I EVEN FOLLOWING WATER?!? Alice shook her head, but continued. She stopped right in front of the doors.
She could hear cracking coming from inside. Taking a deep breath, she inhaled and pushed open the doors.
And saw the horror that lies in wait for the others....
