Sokka

( A/N: I apologize in advance for this chap... I know Sokka's comedy is legendary :-D soooo...yeah sorry if i didn't make it funny enough. Hope u enjoy anyway!)

*AHEM*..... there was a time, when the four nations of Air, Water, Earth, and Fire lived together in peace and they were the best of friends. And then, the evil Fire Nation decided to drown the world in FIRE!!

War broke out and disorder was spreading like a disease. Those who suffered from the evilness of the Fire Nation asked, "Who would be the one to save us from the evilness of the Fire Nation?"

And yes, who WOULD be the one to save the suffering people from the evilness of the Fire Nation?

Why, none other than a hero of a thousand nights, a brave warrior whose heart is among the purest, a fearless nomad armored with intelligence and quick thinking. And together with his friends, have the courage and determination to remove the mentioned evilness of the Fire Nation from the mentioned suffered people...who were suffering from the mentioned evilness of the Fire Nation.

But you might be asking...again...WHO was this courageous freer of the oppressed, the heart and hope of not one, but 3 nations battling the mentioned evilness of the Fire Nation?

Why it was none other that SOKKA, HERO OF THE SOUTHERN WATER TRIBE, THE ULTIMATE MOTIVATION BENDER AND BEST BOOMERANGER IN THE WORLD!!

Okay, okay, okay.... obviously it was Aang, y'know cuz he's the Avatar and all. But to be fair I actually was a nomad...literally. Aang wasn't just the only nomad in our group. Katara and I left the good old days of staying in one place...which was a nice cozy igloo with a nice lit fire and has some nice soft animal fur blankets... and went on a crazy trip around the world. And eventually even Toph and Zuko joined us for our crazy around-the-world journey.

Nomads travel.

Therefore, every member of Team Avatar is a nomad.

And seeing how some of my fellow nomads had previously recorded the memories of our adventures, I might as well do the same...Sokka-style.

So it all started when Katara was being overdramatic for no reason in particular...

Okay, it actually started when I decided to take Katara on one of my hunting trips, only to regret making that decision in the first place. I said something that totally ticked her off, which made her go completely nuts, and almost had us drowned with her crazy waterbending which is, in some freaky and weird way, connected to her emotions.

Then, all of a sudden, some giant glowing iceberg pops out of the sea. And me, being me, knew that it was just another one of those this-is-too-weird-I'm-definitely-leaving-and-never-coming-back moments and tried to move Katara away from that....thing. Because, as you know, she is my little sister and it was my duty as a kind, compassionate, older brother to look after her and protect her from all danger within any means necessary. But did she appreciate my love and my willingness to shield her from all harm?

Of course not.

Instead, she grabs my boomerang and goes charging after it like its some fluffy cute little animal that won't bite. And then she bangs it until it cracks open and a crazy light beam shoots directly into the sky. And THEN next thing you know, a kid....A KID....with an arrow on his head and a ten ton magical monster comes out of the iceberg.

Let me just state what was going on in my head at this very moment:

-First....HOW is it possible to be frozen in an iceberg and then just all of a sudden come out like you just woke up from a nap or something???

-Second...HOW??

Obviously, my brain was shifting to the idea that the Fire Nation was up to no good and instantly thought  Aang was some kind of spy working for them. Of course Katara thought I was absolutely ridiculous for thinking that...but for years the Fire Nation have been preying on us and really messed up our tribe. Can you really blame me?

And being put in charge of the whole Southern Water tribe wasn't a walk in the park either (though I have to admit, Dad made a good choice putting me in charge...). I had make sure the tribe was protected from any invaders and keep up with training the young boys at camp. And most importantly, I was determined to prove to my Dad that I can be a warrior, and someone worth being proud of too.

But anyway, blah blah blah, we found out that Aang was the Avatar and we decided to help him with his Avatar stuff so he could defeat the Fire Lord and finally bring this war to an end. This resulted to traveling around the world helping random people out, gathering intelligence for the final battle , and of course provided us with new allies and touching bonding experiences (excuse me for a brief moment while I receive a punch from Toph).

Anyway, we did experience a lot during our trip, but Toph, Katara, and Aang never wrote about any of the important stuff.

Like when we found Momo. That was a very important and crucial starting point for our journey.

Or the time when I was kidnapped by that weird Haibi spirit and was trapped in the spirit world for 24 hours. Or the time when I tried to convince the people in Aunt Wu's village that her fortunetelling was completely insane and they should rely on actual scientifically proven facts to predict the weather or whatever. Or the time when Aang was accused of killing "Ching the Great" (or whatever his name was) and I had to prove with research and evidence that Aang was innocent. OR the time when we had to travel with a bunch of weird hippies into an ENTIRE labyrinth and I almost died...

Of course, there were those other moments as well. And, I admit, I was kind of a jerk back then too.

For example, while Team Avatar and I were hiding out in the Fire Nation and came across a small river town Katara, being Katara, insisted we help them out since the town was struggling with little food and no medicine for their sick. I told her we couldn't, because we had a tight schedule and there was no way we were going to miss the deadline for the Invasion. Apparently she completely ignored what I said and started helping them out, secretly disguising herself as The Painted Lady (a river spirit) and stealing food and medicine from the Fire Nation to give to the townspeople at night.

I, of course, found out about what she was doing and we soon realized that the Fire Nation was going to destroy the river town because they held them responsible for their stolen goods, as well as destroying their factory. Again, I told Katara to back off, but did she listen to the kind brotherly advice I offered?

Of course not.

She stormed off, saying that she wouldn't turn her back on people who needed her and she would do everything she could to save the people of the town. At this point I realized maybe she was right and decided to help drive the Fire Nation army away.

Besides, I couldn't turn my back on my little sister. Not when she needed me most.

Loosing our mom to the Fire Nation had been really hard on her, but then again loosing someone you love in general is never easy.

Sometimes I look up at the moon at night and wonder if Yue can see me...if she knows that I miss her, and that I'm sorry I wasn't able to protect her during the Siege of the North Pole. It was difficult to come to terms with the fact that she's gone, but like everyone else I knew eventually I had to accept what happened and move on. It was easier said than done, though. I also thought that I wouldn't be able to be in another relationship after being in one with Yue, but when Suki came along....

Let's just say I gave in to falling in love with her and that she swept me off my feet. Literally. With her fan thing.

Anyway, beside travelling and romance, I think it is important to record our near-death experiences in the journal, so we can all think about how lucky we are to be here today.

And also because I need more things to write so my part can be more heartfelt and emotional than everyone else's.

*ahem*

1. When we were stuck in the desert and about to die of thirst because of Momo...not that I'm pointing fingers...

2. When we were being chased by pirates and almost drown after being tossed into a waterfall.

3. When we were about to get destroyed by giant fire balls thrown at us by Zhao while we were travelling to Roku's temple during the Winter Solstice.

4. When Combustion Man was about to kill us with his brain.

5. When Zuko and I went to the Boiling Rock to save my Dad and Suki, and the guards were cutting the line to the gondala that we were on and was about to fall into a boiling lake until Mai saved us (thank you, Mai).

6. When Toph and I were dangling from a Fire Nation airship while we attempted to stop the airship fleet (worst near-death EVER) until Suki saved us (thank you Suki<3).

And there were some more I think, but right now my fellow nomads are disagreeing on certain parts of my faithfully written passages...so lemme wrap this up with my life lessons.

For starters, I learned that even though you can be a awesome idea-guy, a lot of your ideas might not work at first, and that's totally okay. You just have to keep trying...and trying...and trying...and trying until the perfect idea comes and works out.

Also, I learned from Suki (and Katara...and of course Toph) that girls can be pretty good fighters too. Even though it kind of kills me to admit it.

And I learned that you don't always have to be a bender to be amazing and useful to a team. Even though Aang, Katara, Toph, and Zuko can do really incredible things with their bending, I realized with my many skills of map reading, thinking of genius ideas, sword fighting, and boomerang-ing, I can do incredible things too.

Of course I knew that from the beginning.
