Chapter 2
Author's Note: I'm glad you're back for another chapter! Last time, I asked you what you think Fitz's gift was, and now you'll find out! Please enjoy this chapter!
Now I will have a little contest! Share this story with five or more people and private message me your alternate cover and/or story idea and I just might put it in the story!
P.S. Sorry I forgot about Sandor and Grizel! They'll show up in this one...
P.P.S For story purposes, in my version of KOTLC, Gizela didn't threaten the alicorns and so Tam didn't join the Neverseen.
This chapter is dedicated to my first readers, the ones who plucked me out of the KOTLC fandom, TurtlesAreCool_ , _Lonely-Girl_, and Starlovenight, and my awesome friend Anika, who was always there to help me do this!
Sophie's heart fluttered as Fitz took her hand and lead her down the empty corridors. After many twists and turns, he stopped.
"Hey Sandor, Grizel can we have a minute?"
Sophie's giant bodyguard crossed his arms and frowned, but after a few seconds of a staring contest, Sandor threw up his arms.
"Fine, two minutes and then I'm coming to check on you. I'll just be around the corner with Grizel." He gave a pointed stare at her.
They rounded the corner and Fitz opened his locker. He picked up a small box and handed it to her. She opened it, her heart pounding. Inside was...
A set of bracelets. Cloth bracelets. Teal, with silver words saying Sophie Foster + Fitz Vacker on them. Crush cuffs.
Sophie gasped. "They're- they're..."
"If you don't want them, I can return them."
"No, don't. I... I love them!" she gushed.
Sophie hadn't been sure, but now that she thought about it, the more she was bursting with love for Fitz, and the more she wanted everyone to know about it.
He knelt down and motioned for Sophie to do the same.
"Sophie, I don't care what the matchmakers say, I love you so much, and my honor and family name isn't going to change that."
He cupped her head in his hand and Sophie let him pull her head to his as they kissed. It was possibly the best moment of Sophie's life. She loved him so much, she was drowning in happiness...
But he pulled away. "Sandor and Grizel will worry if we don't return. Hey, do you want to come over this afternoon? Biana and I will be there, of course, and Keefe, Tam, Lihn, Dex, and Marella are coming, too. We want a game idea! What do humans like to play?"
"Uh..." Well, with the relationships going on in there friend group, some human games would be pretty interesting. "How about 'Spin the Bottle?'" It was the first thing that came to her mind, and she regretted it, though Fitz smiled.
"Really? I thought that was just an elvin thing!"
"And I thought that was just a human thing. Let me contact Mom." She pulled out her imparter and, once Edaline's face appeared, she said, "Edaline, I'm going to the Vacker's after school, don't freak out. Oh, and does Sandor have to be there?"
She smiled. "I guess he can go home. There's enough security at Everglen."
"Can I get that on recording?" Louder, she called, "Hey Sandor, Mom says you have to go home after school when I go to Everglen!"
She heard his squeaky groan. "If Lady Ruewen says so..."
"I do!" Edaline called.
"Fine."
As Sophie headed to her next class, she thought her life couldn't be any better. She was doing well in school, had a loving family, and a boyfriend who loved her. But she had no idea how much her life would soon turn upside down.
Later, at Everglen...
Sophie wore a teal tunic and sparkly gold leggings. She tugged on an eyelash, nervous not because of the fancy outfit, which Fitz loved, but because the tunic had short sleeves. Meaning everyone could see her crush cuffs.
The tunic matched her cuffs perfectly, but the silver on them seemed to pop out like a neon sign.
Della opened the door as she knocked. "Come in, Sophie. Biana, Fitz, and Keefe are upstairs." Glancing down at Sophie's wrists, she squealed like a little girl. "He gave them to you! I remember my first crush cuffs. I got them for my first boyfriend, Levi, when I was twelve. They were dark purple... his favorite color..." She sighed. "Well, I've kept you waiting long enough. Go on in."
Sophie walked up the seemingly endless stairs and opened the door to Biana's bedroom. But what she saw wasn't possible. It just wasn't.
Author's note: MUWAH HA HA HA HA! I left you on a cliffhanger! What do you think Sophie saw? I will update when AND ONLY WHEN at least one person has shared this with five people and private messaged me their cover and/or story idea!
