Kassidy POV 

"Dad. I'm fine." I said as I sat up in the hospital bed It was my second day here and I was just ready to get out of here.

"Are you sure? Is there anything I can get you? How is your shoulder? Does it hurt?"

"A little but really its not bad right now Dad I promise. I'm fine. Oh! But Could you see if the cafeteria has blue jello??" I asked.

"You've eaten blue jello for two days straight Kass." Dad said.

"Because I'm terrified of everything else that they try to feed me. Blue jello is good. It never disappoints me." I said and smiled.

"I'll be back." He said and shook his head smiling to himself. Ruby and Emma walked in.

"Hey!" I said "People I know!" I added and grinned. They both hugged me carefully.

"Where's Belle?" I asked.

"She'll be here in a bit." Emma said.

Ruby put a Styrofoam box on the tray in front of me.

"Is this.." I said as I opened the box and looked at the cheeseburger inside.

"You do love me." I said.

"Extra mustard, no pickles. Just how you like it. I figured you didn't want this prison food." Ruby said. 

"When do you think they are going to let you out of here?" Emma asked. I took a bite out of my cheeseburger and swallowed it.

"First off. this is amazing. Second, They're saying maybe tomorrow I can get out but I have to stay out of school for another week and they want me to get counseling Which I really don't think I need." I said.

"Its okay if you do though.. I mean what you've been through..." Emma said. I shook my head.

"Really, I'm fine. I just want to get back home. and weirdly enough I want to go to school." I said.

It wasn't weird. I just wanted to see Killian. Dad walked back in the room with my blue jello.

"Yay!" I said. He set it down and looked at the cheeseburger in front of me and looked back at Ruby and Emma

"Hey girls." He said. "Thank you for bringing that. Its the first thing she's ate besides jello in two days."

"I don't blame her. Have you seen the food here?" Ruby asked.

"So they are saying she can go home tomorrow?" Emma asked.

"They are hoping." Dad said. "I think so. She seems to be doing well, as you can tell." He smirked. "The only thing that worries me, is she's having trouble holding things with her right hand. But the doctors think with some physical therapy she should be fine." Dad smiled. 

Belle came in the room with some flowers and balloons.

"Aww, you didn't have to do that." I said.

"We wanted to." Emma smiled.

"You guys are the best." I said and moved slightly to adjust myself and winced.

"Damn.." I sighed.

"You okay?" Ruby asked

"Yeah, Its just sometimes when I move my arm it hurts pretty bad." I sad Dad looked at the clock.

"Its almost time for more pain medicine."

"I don't like that stuff it makes me sleep too much." I said.

"Because you need the rest Kassidy." He said. I frowned. I was tired of sleeping. At least in this bed. I just wanted to be in Killian's huge bed with him.

"We will come back and see you later Kassidy, your Dad is right you need rest." Ruby said.

"Okay." I said. "I'll see you guys later." I smiled.

When I opened my eyes I was met by a pair of piercing blue eyes.

"Hey you." Killian said softly.

"Hey" I mumbled and went to sit up but couldn't move very well.

"Easy." Killian said and helped me sit up.

"What are you doing here? What if someone gets suspicious?" I asked.

"Your dad is napping in the lobby. I just wanted to see how you were doing." Killian said.

"I'd be better if I was out of here.." I said.

"Tomorrow right?" Killian asked.

"Hopefully." I said. "I have to stay out of school for the next week though maybe longer depending on how well I can use my arm by the end of the week." I said.

"If I know you, and your stubborn self, you'll be in school by Friday." Killian said and sat down.

"How are you doing? you know up here?" Killian asked and tapped my head.

"I'm fine. I'm also high on pain medicine most of the time. So I haven't had a lot of time to process everything. I just feel weird. Because Dylan is dead and I am relieved? Is that even the right response?" I asked.

"I think for someone who has been through what you have with him, it is." Killian said. I could tell by his face he as relieved too. It was over, we didn't have to worry about him anymore and we could just be us.

"The doctors are hopeful that by New Years I'll be able to use my arm fully again. The bullet didn't hit any major nerves or anything Its just my entire arm is stiff, and sore because I can't move my shoulder without it hurting." I said changing the subject.

"That is great...well except for you being in pain." Killian said.

"The pain will stop eventually." I said and smiled.

"God I've missed that smile." He said.

"I've missed you. I just want to get out of here and get back to our normal lives." I said.

"I know. and we will. But you need time to heal." He said and kissed my cheek.

"I have to go for now, but I will call you, and text you whenever I can when you get home." He said. "I love you."

"I love you too." I said and smiled at him as he walked out of the room.

It was Wednesday afternoon, I had been home for three days now and I was going just as crazy here as I was the hospital. I had finally convinced my Dad to go to work, it was odd that when I wanted him home he was never here, but when I wanted him to leave me alone I had to push him out the door. The bandages had been removed from my shoulder and I was in a sling for now. I was supposed to start the physical therapy tomorrow and get the stitches out of my shoulder Friday. I was going to look like Frankenstein's monster between this and the scar that I already had on my left shoulder. I looked at my clock it was 4 pm. I had to get out of this house. Just for a little bit. I grabbed the bottle of prescription pain medicine from the counter in case I needed it, and shoved it in my jacket pocket on my way out the door.

Killian POV

I sat in my office looking over worksheets from todays lessons when the doorbell rang. That was odd, I wasn't expecting anyone. I walked to the door and opened it. There stood Kassidy, She leaned against the door frame, and she looked exhausted.

"Jesus.. Kassidy! What are you doing here? You should be resting."

"Nice to see you too, hot stuff." She said and walked into the house.

"Did you walk all the way here?" I asked.

"Well, I started walking, and then I sprouted wings and flew the rest of the way. It was the weirdest  thing." She said and smirked.

I missed that God damn sarcasm.

"Alright, come on.." I said and led her down the hall to the bedroom.

"Killian, I'm fine really. I just wanted to come see you. I've been stuck inside one place or the other for 5 days, with no you." She said and pouted.

"Well, you are here. you are seeing me, and now you're going to lay down before you pass out." I said. She started to protest.

"Bed!" I said.

"Fine." She grumbled She started shimming out her jacket I helped her pull it off.

"Did you bring your medicine with you?" I asked.

"Yeah its in my jacket, but I didn't come here to sleep, I came here to see you!" She said and Did her best to try and climb in bed Failing miserably.

"How much longer are you going to be in that thing?" I asked helping her get into bed.

"They're thinking of letting me take it off tomorrow. Which would be fantastic, Its killing my neck and they expect me to sleep with it..like how the hell?" She said.

"I'll be right back, I was grading some papers, I'm going to go get them." I said and went to my office for a second to get the papers and returned to the bedroom. She pat the bed beside her.

I shook my head laughing and sat next to her on the bed looking at the papers in my hand. She leaned her head on my shoulder.

"You and that red pen of yours are terrifying." She said. I smirked.

"Only when people don't pay attention."

"Is it sad, that I miss, History and Biology.. and even Algebra?" She asked.

"No, you are just ready for things to get back to normal. We all are. the whole school is a little shook up about it when something like this happens in a small town it takes it toll on everyone." I said. "I think once every sees that you are okay, things will settle down." I smiled.

"I missed you." She said.

"I missed you too." I said. She took the papers from my hand and put them on the nightstand beside me.

"Kassidy what are you doing?" I asked. She pressed her lips against mine. I ran my hand through her hair. She crawled across the bed and straddled my lap and unbuttoned my shirt.

"Kass.." I whispered. She kissed all down my abdomen and her hand started unbuckling my belt. I put my hand over hers.

"Whoa.. Kass.." I said.

"What?" She asked.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Aren't you tired of waiting?" She asked.

"Believe me, I want this as much as you do but we've talked about this." She sighed and stood from the bed.

"Yeah I know, We are supposed to wait until February, But I don't want to wait anymore. Okay? I could have died and the only thing I could think about was how I never got to express exactly how I feel about you!" She said.

"But you didn't die, Kassidy, you are alive and you are okay and we have plenty of time to figure this out." I said.

"Unless someone tries to shoot me again, or I slip and die somewhere.." She said.

"Nothing is going to happen to you." I said.

"Yeah well, that's what everyone said before I got shot!" She said. "I should go back home." She said and bent down to pick up her coat and dropped it.

"Ow! Fuck!" She said. I approached her and picked up her coat and laid it on top of the dresser.

"You aren't going anywhere." I said and dug in her coat pocket for her pain medicine. She sat down on the floor and cried. I crouched down to her and pulled her close to me.

"I don't know who I am anymore Killian." She sobbed.

"I know. But, I know exactly who you are and I will be here to help you find that person again." I said.

"You don't have to.. You don't have to be here to pick up the pieces. I would understand, you could move on, find someone whos old enough, and less crazy." She said.

"You aren't crazy Kassidy." I said. "You just have a lot going on in your head and you haven't had time to process it all. But you will get there. You just have to let people help you." I said

"Okay.." She said.

"I love you Kassidy and I'm not going anywhere, no matter how hard you try to push me away, I'm staying right here." I said.

"I love you too." She said and sniffled. I stood up and helped her up.

"I'll be right back." I said and went to the kitchen to get some water. I brought the water into the bedroom and handed it to her, and opened her pain medicine and handed her one.

"Please. Get some rest." I said. She nodded and took the medicine. I helped her get back into bed.

"You're going to stay with me right?" I asked.

"Of course. I'll be right here." I said and climbed in bed next to her. She laid her head on my chest we sat there quietly for a while until she fell asleep.
